Day Five: Nightmare
Adrien woke up in a cold sweat, breathing heavily. He continued to take several deep breaths while trying to calm his fast-beating heart. It wasn't real. It was just a dream. Everything's fine. She's safe. Nothing happened. It was all in your head. He kept telling himself these phrases over and over again, but his efforts seemed to be in vain.
Adrien knew he was freaking out for no reason. Shadow Moth didn't know that he was Chat Noir. Shadow Moth didn't know that Chat Noir was dating Marinette Dupan-Cheng, the most amazing girl to ever exist in human history. Shadow Moth hadn't broken into Marinette's house and he hadn't murdered her sweet parents who accepted him when they found out about the relationship between him and their daughter. That monster hadn't hurt Marinette in every way possible as Adrien was forced to sit and watch. No, none of that had happened.
Adrien still couldn't calm down so he decided to go see Marinette. He wouldn't wake her up or anything. Adrien would just quickly go see her to make sure she was okay. Then he'd come back home and let her be.
He transformed into his alter ego, Chat Noir, and started to head toward the direction of Marinette's house. The cool night air helped him to calm down a little bit more, but he was still pretty worked up. As Marinette's house grew closer, Chat Noir could feel his heart pounding faster. He was still worried about if she was okay or not.
When he reached Marinette's trapdoor, he saw that she wasn't in her bed. He hurried inside her room even more freaked out than before. As he hopped off her bed, it suddenly hit him that the light was on. Chat Noir looked around the room and saw Marinette lying down at her desk. He got closer to her and noticed that Marinette was sleeping.
His panic went away instantly as he watched her chest rise up and down with every breath she was taking. Marinette had a peaceful expression on her face. Chat Noir smiled to himself. She must have been working late again, he thought. His girlfriend tended to overwork herself sometimes. He always made sure he was there to support her, with or without a mask.
Knowing her back would hurt if she slept at her desk. Chat Noir gently picked up the girl and carried her to her bed. As he laid her down, Marinette latched her hand onto one of his arms. He jumped at the sudden motion but relaxed when he saw that she was still sleeping.
Marinette continued to surprise him when she made a tugging motion with his arm. Chat followed her lead and ended up laying down next to her. She curled herself up into him making it impossible to leave. Aw, well, he thought. I prefer spending the night with you anyways. Using his baton to turn off the light, Chat pulled Marinette closer to him and drifted off into many good dreams that night.
