Animal eventually returned to his home as strangely found the porch a bit crowded with a few people there taking shelter from the rain.
"Hello." Animal greeted a father holding his daughter.
"How's it going?" The father greeted.
Inside, children shouted as they played around as they entire living room was filled with people like a house warming party.
"Whoa. Whoa. Hey." Animal said stunned and works his way through the crowded place. "Uh, excuse me. Excuse me, here. Pardon me. Sorry. Um, honey." He soon found Lucy.
"Hi, sweetie!" Lucy greeted.
Animal then kissed her cheek.
"Who the hell are all these people?" Animal asked.
"Wha-a-at?" Lucy said. "I couldn't just let them sleep on the street."
Animal stammered. "You cou- Um- Where's-Where's Audrey?"
"She's in the bedroom, crying her eyes out because of you." Lucy scolded at him
"Me?" Animal stared. "What... What did I do?"
"All that "you gotta be vicious" stuff you filled her head with." Lucy retorted.
"I fil- Get outta here." Animal said as she was part of it as well.
"You go in there and talk to her, right now." Lucy demanded.
"I was agreeing with you." Animal said. "Excuse me." He works through the crowd.
In a bedroom, Audrey was in the bed sadly watching the news as General Anderson spoke.
"Contrary to some frivolous reporting, we have absolutely no information whatsoever to make us believe that there any eggs of the creature in the city." Anderson said as Audrey sobbed.
Animal then enters the room.
"There's no need for panic." Anderson continued. "Repeat, there is no reason to panic."
Animal joins her sitting on the bed.
"Military leaders in charge of operations around Manhattan-"
"It's all my fault." Audrey cried and sighed. "Oh, what have I done, Animal? What have I become? Look at me. This isn't me. I don't do stuff like this." She sobbed more.
"You made a mistake." Animal said. "All right. It happens."
"Yeah, well, I just totally screwed-up with the only man who ever care about me." Audrey said feeling she blew it completely worse then the time she blew Nick's proposal as Animal grabbed a camera.
"If I told you could make it all up to him, would you?" Animal asked.
"Of course, I would." Audrey said.
"All right." Animal said. "So get this. After he and that team left you on the street there - I kinda followed them. Figured I'd talk some sense into the guy, you know? Next thing I know, he pulls into this warehouse with all these French wackos in military outfits." He grabs a flashlight. "They wanna try to sneak back into the city tonight."
Audrey soon realized what they were doing. "They're going after the nest."
"If he finds it, I think that you should be the one that lets the whole world know that this guy was right all along, don't you?" Animal inquired.
"What?" Audrey stared. "You want me to follow him into the city?"
"Yeah." Animal said placing a cap on backwards. "We both will. Come on. It'll be fun. It'll be fun. It'll be fun."
"Oh, I don't know." Audrey said having doubts. "I've already made such a mess of everything."
"Yeah, you really did, Audrey." Animal said. "Listen, I'm goin' after 'em. You come with me or not, okay?"
He grabbed his bag and heads to the window and opens it.
"What are you doing?" Audrey asked.
"Can't let Lucy know." Animal said. "She'll hurt me."
Meanwhile at the warehouse, they were getting ready to head out in search of the nest. And they were going through some last things as Philippe removes a cigarette from Jean-Philippe. Jean-Claude was all set, and Jean-Pierre removes a cap wore backwards and placed his helmet back on.
Nick and the Wild Kratts have also got military jackets on and he saw Philippe handing them each a piece of gum as they head off.
"What's with the chewing gum?" Nick asked as they climbed in a Humvee.
"Makes us look more American." Philippe said chewing on his.
"Oh, really?" Nick said.
He turns to them as they chewed their gum.
"In some ways, that's more like Jimmy." Koki said.
"Hey." Jimmy said offended.
"Just let me do the talking, all right?" Nick said.
"Okay, okay." Chris said.
Philippe then placed his foot on the gas pedal, and the engine revs but they didn't move.
"It's not in gear." Nick said.
"Hmm." Philippe frowned.
And they drove off.
Meanwhile, Animal and Audrey had just arrived outside the military base as they got out of the van.
"Follow me." Animal said. "This way."
They got to the fence and he squeeze through a gap in it.
"You okay?" Animal asked helping Audrey through. "Come on."
"I'm okay." Audrey said.
They hurried to a building as Animal opened a door leading to a staircase.
"Come on." Animal said heading down.
"What is this place?" Audrey asked.
"It's a vent that leads down to the subway tunnels underneath there." Animal explained. "Should take us right to the 23rd Street Station in Manhattan."
"You gotta be kidding me." Audrey said as they got to the lower level to the tracks. "Aren't there rats and stuff down here?"
"I'm a little bit more concern about lizards at this point." Animal admitted. "Big, ugly, nasty, large lizards."
They then followed a subway track to find their way to the 23rd Street Station.
Meanwhile, the team's Humvee arrives to the tunnel as Philippe lowered his window as Nick and the Wild Kratts placed helmets. And they soon slowed to a halt as a guard approached them.
"Who are you boys with?" He asked.
"Ah, we're with the 3-2, sir." Nick said.
"I didn't ask you, soldier." The guard turned to Nick.
"Uh, well, Sergeant O'Neal just called down for us." Nick said. "He wants us to join him right now, sir. Thank you."
The guard turns shining his light on Jean-Claude acting casual while chewing gum.
"You got a problem, talkin'?" The guard questioned.
"Why, no, sir, I'm fine." Philippe said in a Southern accent.
Nick momentarily frowned.
A horn honked from a Humvee behind them as the guard turns to it.
"Come on. Let's go!" The driver called out.
"All right." The guard said. "Keep it movin'."
"Why, thank you very much." Philippe said in an Elvis accent.
Chris and Martin stared at him from that.
They then drove off as Nick turns to Philippe.
"Elvis Presley movies." Philippe said being a fan. "He was the King."
They then smiled as they drove through the tunnel.
"Yeah, he was a big hit in his day." Martin said.
"Sir, O'Neal on line." A soldier reported to Hicks.
Hicks grabs the phone.
"O'Neal, do you read me?" Hicks said.
At a clearing of Central Park, the second fish trap was all set.
"Go for O'Neal." O'Neal responded.
"Well, how are we doing?" Hicks asked.
"Well, so- So far, so good." O'Neal said. "We're, uh, right on schedule."
His radio lightly statics.
"We're good." O'Neal said. "We're-We're good."
He looks through binoculars seeing a few helicopters flew by the buildings.
In the subway tunnel, the sound of water dripping is heard as Animal and Audrey have finally made to the 23rd Street Station. And they saw the damage left by Godzilla's digging.
"Whoa!" Animal exclaimed.
"Oh, my God." Audrey said stunned.
"Yeah." Animal said as chattering as heard below and spotted them. "There they are. Kill your light. Kill your light."
Philippe's men chattered in French as they wandered through the tunnel.
"Well, come on." Audrey said as Animal held his camera. "How do we get down there? We're gonna lose 'em."
Below, Nick leads the group as they head further into the tunnel.
"I wonder how far this tunnel goes." Martin wondered.
Back with Animal and Audrey, they their way to a damaged subway car trying to find a way down.
"How the hell did they get down there?" Animal wondered softly.
"I don't know." Audrey said.
"You don't think they climb down this thing?" Animal said looking through the car." Whoops." An Pepsi can slid down. "Aw, Jesus."
They watched the can clattering as it slid down the car and continues clattering.
Back with the group, Nick held his hand as they stopped and a low groaning was heard. And the tunnel started to vibrate as Nick looked at a rattling pipe by his feet.
In the subway car, Animal and Audrey were carefully climbing down unaware of what was happening.
"Careful." Audrey said.
She gasps and pants as they carefully made their way down holding onto the bars. And they soon made it to the lower level.
Audrey grunts "Give me your hand."
"I got ya." Animal said helping her.
Back with the group, they remained quiet as they listened.
"Hey." Jean-Luc said.
"Shh." Aviva shushed.
The tunnel started to vibrate heavily as a piece of concrete jostled and rocks fell from the side. And a light above them gave a pulsating hum as it went out.
"Uh... Anybody else feel that?" Jimmy asked quivering.
Back with Animal and Audrey, she too feels the tunnel shake.
"Did you hear that?" Audrey asked.
"What?" Animal asked busy fixing his camera.
Back with the group, the pipe of the ground continues jostling as they looked around. And it the vibration grew stronger by the second as they know something was coming. And then suddenly part of the wall of the tunnel broke apart as Godzilla's head plows through the bedrock growling like it was nothing.
"Get a load of that!" Martin said panicking.
"Barrez-vous! Vite!" Jean-Claude yelled.
Godzilla roared as they quickly retreat into an opening on the tunnel's side as the monster reptile crawls by.
"Degage! Degage!" Jean-Claude yelled.
Jean-Luc gasped as they regrouped."Bouge-toi. Bouge-toi."
They then watched as Godzilla crawls using his powerful arms and claws to haul his massive body through the tunnel.
Ahead of them, Audrey and Animal watched in pure shock as Animal brought his camera out filming him. And Godzilla crawls through the tunnel towards them as Audrey quickly runs off.
"Animal, come on!" She yelled.
Animal soon flees as Godzilla crawls closer, and they soon got to a ledge out of his way as the reptilian colossus crawls by. And they watched as Godzilla's tail slithers by as Audrey gasped as Godzilla climbs out of a burrow entrance roaring out.
Animal blows a raspberry and chuckles, Audrey pants from the rush and then starts laughing.
Back with the group, they went over to the tunnel Godzilla came through and looked down through it.
"I guess we go this way." Nick said.
"He was definitely just somewhere recently." Martin said. "Could be his den."
They then begin to head into the tunnel and follow it to see where it goes.
Meanwhile, soldiers on a high rooftop of a building were keeping an eye out. And then distant thudding and growling was heard, and a soldier heads to the side and looks down seeing Godzilla striding by with heavy footsteps thudding each time he took a step.
"Sir, we've spotted him in Section 5." A soldier reported to O'Neal.
"Section-... Combat positions!" O'Neal yelled out to the others. "Here we go. Combat!"
Godzilla strides through the city as he heads for Central Park following the scent of the fish.
"Target's heading north to Section 5, sir." A soldier said.
Beeping occurs as they watched Godzilla's position head closer.
"Do not fire until he has cleared the buildings and enters the park!" O'Neal said as they got into position.
In the base, everyone gathered and watched as beeping was heard on the screen as Godzilla got closer.
Godzilla made his way through the maze of buildings and got to the open and sees the fish trap as he roared.
Below, the soldiers got ready as one cocks his weapon. Godzilla then looks down seeing the lights and soldiers.
He bellows and growls as he lowers to a cautious crouch as O'Neal and the other got ready as he brought out a grenade launcher. Godzilla then cautiously clears the buildings and stares at the soldiers with their trained and aimed at him. Godzilla moves closer to the soldiers as they nervously stepped back holding their ground as the reptilian titan stares at them.
"Oh- Jeez." A soldier said sliding off a tank.
Godzilla stares at the soldiers for a few moments and then turns over towards the park.
"Wait until he enters the park." O'Neal said through his microphone.
Godzilla looks at the park, and sees the fish trap as the opportunity of an easy meal is too good to miss. But he seems reluctant to approach as he turns back to the soldiers seeming to remember what happened last time.
"Come on." O'Neal said.
Godzilla stares at the fish trap and then he inhales and bellows out a loud roar and turns away to leave.
"He's leaving!" A soldier said.
"Damn it!" O'Neal cursed. "Fire! Fire at will!" He grunts as the soldiers opened fire.
Godzilla turns and flees as they fired at him and he hops over a building rushed off.
In the base, the screen showed Godzilla's position fleeing the site.
"DAMN!" Hicks angrily said.
Godzilla hops over a building and flees as then an army of Apaches flew out from the building hiding and opened fire on him.
Up ahead, another team of soldiers were waiting for him.
"Fire!" A soldier yelled.
They then opened fire as a M270 MRLS fired two missiles as they flew out and soared pass Godzilla as he runs by.
A leading Apache pilot soon picked the two missiles up on his screen.
"Raven Flight, evasive maneuvers!" He called out.
The Apaches quickly flew aside as the two missiles struck a building.
Below, the soldiers continued firing as the fleeing monster stomps on a tank.
"Move! Get out of the way!" A soldier yelled as another tank was flipped back by Godzilla's other foot. "Get out of the way!"
"Target is in the clear. He's headed toward the westside highway."
They watched the screen as Godzilla's positions heads toward them.
The team of soldiers continues firing as Godzilla charges towards them, and then with one massive stomp, Godzilla leaps off and flies over the soldiers as they kept firing. And Godzilla then dives into the Hudson with a massive splash as the Apaches flew off.
In the base, the screen soon lost sight of him as Ebert sighed.
"Don't worry." Admiral Phelps assured patting Hicks' shoulder. "The Navy has a little something there waiting for him."
Sonar beeps out as a trio of Los Angeles-Class Nuclear Attack Submarines: Utah, Indiana and Anchorage soared through the water as they hunted down their target like a team of Killer Whales.
In the Utah, everyone got into positions.
"All stations report manned for battle stations, sir." An officer said.
"Aye." The captain said.
"At ordered depth, sir." Another officer said.
"Aye. We got him on sonar." The captain reported through his microphone seeing Godzilla on the screen. "Utah closing in."
"Make final preparations." Phelps ordered. "Prepare to fire."
Godzilla swims the water using his tail to propel forward like a crocodile as it churns in his wake and a shoal of fish swam off.
Further in the bay, the Utah submarine begins to close in.
"Aye, aye. Manned and ready." An officer reported and walks off. "Torpedo room reports manned and ready, sir."
"Final bearing and shoot." The captain said. "Are we locked on?"
"Aye." The officer replied and went over to two members. "Are we locked on?"
"Aye, aye, sir." An officer replied.
"Number one, stand by." The captain said. "Fire."
"Torpedo One, peered and left the tube." An officer said.
The torpedo flew out of the slot and they watched on the screen as the torpedo closes in on Godzilla.
Godzilla continues swimming as he spots the torpedo and banks off as the torpedo follows it.
The screen beeped as they watched.
"Indiana and Anchorage closing in." A soldier reported.
In the Anchorage, they got ready.
"Ensign, what's the status?" The Anchorage captain asked.
"We are locked on and closing in, sir." Ensign reported.
"Fire Number One." The captain ordered.
The submarine fires a torpedo.
A screen showed the torpedo closing in on Godzilla as Phelps watched.
In the river, Godzilla dives just dodging the torpedo as it loops back around.
In the base, Hicks saw this.
Godzilla continues swimming as the two torpedoes pursue after him.
In the Anchorage, trouble brew as the screen rapidly beeped as Godzilla heading towards them.
"Sir, the target's heading right at us!" An officer said.
"All back full!" The captain ordered.
"Aye, aye, sir." And officer said. "All back full."
2 officers pulled the controls back trying to slow the sub down.
Outside, Godzilla swimming at full speed heads towards the submarine peeling up trying to dodge him.
"Stand by for impact." An officer said as creature got dangerously closer. "In ten seconds-"
Godzilla near the Anchorage sub with the two torpedoes right behind him.
"Six, five, four, three, two, one." An officer counted down as they all braced for the end.
Godzilla swims underneath the submarine as the two large plates on his shoulders hits the underside.
Everyone inside ran as water gushes in as screaming fills the halls.
In the base, Anderson watches as the torpedoes closed in on the sub.
In the river, the two torpedoes struck the submarine as they all held on.
And a large explosion plume of water flew high in the air at the surface.
And the Anchorage's signal was lost.
"We've lost the Anchorage, sir." A soldier reported.
Hicks remained silent at the loss.
In the river, Godzilla swims off as in the Utah, an officer saw he was heading back to Manhattan.
"He's shifted course, sir." He reported. "He's heading back towards Manhattan."
"Full ahead." The captain said determinedly to avenge the Anchorage. "Close in and lock on."
"Prepare tubes Three and Four and lock on!" The officer ordered.
"Aye, aye, sir." Another officer replied.
Godzilla swims off into the gloom as the Utah and Indiana pursue after him at full speed.
"Stand by, Three." The captain ordered. "Fire!"
"Torpedo Three, peered and left the tube." An officer announced.
A torpedo flew out of the slot and heads towards it's target as Godzilla swam towards a wall. And the Indiana fires one of it's own torpedoes.
"Impact in eight seconds, seven, six-" The officer counted down watching his stopwatch.
Godzilla hits the wall with a hard thud, and he growls as he then digs through the wall of rock.
"Three, two, one!" The officer counted down as the showed the torpedoes closing in.
Godzilla has already dug a hole through with the tip of tail sticking out from the cloud of sand as the two torpedoes struck him, and he roars out as they exploded and an explosion plume burst high into the air.
In the Utah, the screen read "TARGET DESTORYED".
"Direct hit!" The officer announced.
They then cheered out.
"Got him!" The captain said grateful.
Ebert sighs in relief as everyone cheered.
"Congratulations, sir." Hicks said. "Good job."
Phelps laughs as he hugged the Governor.
"Yeah, well done." Phelps said.
Hicks turns back to the screen and sighs.
The screen beeped flashing "TARGET DESTORYED".
"Good job!" Phelps said.
Moaning echoes out through the Hudson as Godzilla's body sinks through the sand cloud from the explosion and continues sinking as his life slowly ebbs away.
The greatest creature the world has ever seen.
Author's Note:
Next we find the lair of Godzilla.
And not too much longer before Prehistoric Planet 2 is out. If I'm right and get this story done on Saturday, I'll get back to Wild Dominion. And I may consider a few dinosaurs there were cut, but won't spoil anything.
