Chapter 14 - Creation
INT. ROSE'S ROOM - DAY Over A 185 years ago
Rose led Greg into Her room, her expression was somber and her eyes filled with a mix of love and sadness. Steven saw through Rose's eyes as his father looked around nervously, his eyes darting back to the entrance. Sensing his unease, Rose gave him a reassuring smirk and squeezed his hand gently.
ROSE
Don't worry, Greg. The door will remain open.
The room around them seemed to shift and transform, adapting to Rose's needs. As they approached the hidden pillar, Rose deftly concealed the hidden crystal from Greg's view with illusions, making it appear as if she was simply resting her free hand on the cloud-like formation conjured by the room.
As Rose's gem begins to glow, she looked at Greg's eyes, with love and determination.
ROSE
Take good care of Steven, Greg.
A tearful Greg nodded, his voice filled with determination as well
GREG
I will. I'll be the best dad anyone ever could be!
Rose's eyes filled with tears as well, feeling love and pride for the man standing before her.
ROSE
I'm sure you will be.
Greg's voice cracked as he tried to hold back his tears.
GREG
I love you, Rose.
Rose let go of Greg's hand and gently pulled Greg towards her by the nape of his neck and leaned down to him, and kissed him tenderly. She smiles through her own tears. When they pulled apart, she looked into his eyes
ROSE
I love you too, Greg. I finally understand that now. Thank you for teaching me that.
Just after that tender moment the crystal and Rose's gem glowed in unison. And in that instant, her consciousness transferred into the crystal. Rose's form dissolved, replaced by a large, hovering pink orb. Greg quickly steps back, awestruck.
As Greg stared in disbelief Rose's gem moved from the surface of the orb down towards Baby Steven's belly and when it was there it merged with him to form an integral part of his body and soul. For a brief moment, Baby Steven and Rose were one. Then, in less than a heartbeat Rose relinquished control of her gem to Steven.
Steven's perspective of the vision shifted from his mother, and he saw the event unfold through his own infant eyes. He sensed the crystal fall back onto the hidden pillar, and the pink orb faded away, revealing to Greg a pile of artificial organs that splattered onto the ground. Amidst the mess, Greg saw a filthy, bawling newborn baby Steven emerge, crying out for the very first time
Greg, tears in his eyes, took tentative steps forward and gently cradled the tiny, fragile life in his arms. With a mixture of joy, love, and awe, he whispered,
GREG
(softly)
Hey there, little man.
After seeing the vision, Steven fell to the ground
STEVEN
(whispering)
So, that really is you.
