Marinette heard a loud hump up above her on her balcony. There was only one person, make that one fur ball to be exact that could make that much noise. Tossing her phone on the bed, she stood up and opened the skylight, ready to give her best friend a lecture.
Buzz. Buzz. Marinette lowered herself back onto her bed, for her phone was vibrating. It was from Cat, which was surprising. If he was just up on her balcony, why didn't he just poke his head in?
Cat: Marinette! Come to your balcony, quick!
Marinette's heart started to speed up a bit. Maybe it was a akuma. Finally, scrambling onto her balcony in her pajamas, Marinette saw Cat huddled in the shadows. "Kitty? You okay?" Marinette gasped as she came closer, a tiny coal black kitten was perched a top of Cat's head. "I was playing up here, and it must have seen me from a nearby rooftop. Guess I'm a ca magnet."
Marinette reached her hand for the kitten to sniff, annoyed feelings forgotten. The cat gave a frightened meow. "I was going to take a picture, but I don't want to scare it." Cat slowly handed Marinette his baton, and Marinette grabbed hold of the cool metal. "Take the picture, Marinette. But do it quick."
Click! Flash! The noise and bright light were to much for the kitten, and bounding off Cat's head in leaped into the darkness. "No!" Cat wailed. "I wanted a friend!"
Cat looked up in surprise as Marinette took his hand gently. "Maybe he'll be back. Meanwhile, its getting late and cold up here. How about we make some hot chocolate and read a story together?" "Okay, Princess."
Grasping Cat's hand tightly in the darkness, Marinette blushed. She was glad her partner stood by her side each night, with and without her mask.
