Chapter 2- It's Getting Hot U.A!
Kusaiki woke up the next morning bright and early, she walked down stairs to the kitchen and started making breakfast for her and her parents. Kusaiki didn't cook much but when she did it was always kimchi over rice or spicy tofu over fried rice. Her mother came down the hallway to see her cooking breakfast " Kusaiki? You're making breakfast?" Kusaiki turned to face her mother as she rounded the corner " Oh- Yeah, I just felt like doing something for you guys before I went out" Her mother queried a brow " Out? Where are you going?" Kusaiki blushed " Uhm- I'm going out to get coffee with a friend" Her mother smirked " Which friend?" Kusaiki laughed " Just Tenya-" " Is he a boy?" " Maybe–" Her mother snickered a bit " Hey Cheong! Honey, our little girl is going on a date!" Kusaiki squeaked " No I'm not! Don't listen to her dad!" Her father's feet thudded on the floor " MY LITTLE GIRL HAS A BOYFRIEND?? SINCE WHEN??!!" " NO! Dad, I don't have a boyfriend! It's just Tenya and we're going out for coffee, that's it!" Kusaiki held her arms in an 'X' pose with a blush spreading across her face.
Her father laughed.
Kusaiki stared at him with a scowl " Dad– This isn't funny…" He kept laughing. Soon her Mother joined in " Mommaa" The girl whined " Her parents were just giggling while she stood there.
Her mother wiped her eyes " Oh-I'm sorry dear, You go ahead and go, We're just being silly" Kusaiki smiled and jumped on her mom giving her a bear hug. The older woman held her as they hugged. Kusaiki jumped off and stood in front of her dad " Don't do anything that I would do kiddo" " I won't" Her dad chuckled and slightly punched her shoulder " Be back before dinner okay?" Kusaiki saluted her father " Yes sir!" He ruffled her hair before she ran to the door " Well! I'm off! See you guys later!"
Kusaiki walked out the door and hustled down the street. Her and Iida planned to meet up at the cafe near her house.
Once she turned the corner she saw the cafe and walked in to see Iida at a booth " Oh! Kusaiki!" Kusaiki smiled at Iida and sat across from him " Hey Tenya! I see you got us a seat huh?" Iida fixed his glasses, pushing them further up on his nose " Yes! I thought it would be logical since this cafe was a little ways away from your home" Kusaiki placed her hands in her lap and leant a bit over the table " You wanna know something funny?" " Sure" Kusaiki lifted a hand up to the side of her mouth " I live above a cafe" She put her hand down and smiled widely " You do? We could've gone there right?" Kusaiki laughed a bit before fiddling with the hem of her shirt " I mean if you want to meet my parents that's fine, I don't think they'd mind" Iida paled a bit in his seat " Actually they'd be overjoyed to see one of my friends, but they'd probably think we're dating or something" Kusaiki had a sick grin on her face making Iida pale even more " But alas! We did not go to Shinagawa Cafe, Instead we came here to BokoBoko Cafe which is a lot more– Fancier?"
" I thought it'd be suitable" Iida huffed and fixed his glasses once more. " You're very silly Tenya"

Monday morning, Kusaiki and Aria had a long conversation on the subjects they had been learning " I'm lowkey hating History right now" Aria whined placing her hands on Kusaiki's desk " Me too, I already studied this stuff in Junior High" " Amen to that" Kusaiki and Aria continued to talk until Mr Aizawa came in " Everyone hustle down"
" MR AIZAWA?! Shouldn't you be resting! What are you doing here?" Mina practically screamed. " Recovery Girl said I'm well enough to teach you lot, The cast is just because of her preferences" Kusaiki and the rest of the class sighed in relief " But– The battle isn't over yet" Kusaiki's eyes widened ' Villains again?'
" The Sport's Festival is coming up"
' Sports fest–?'
Most of the class justled in joy at the event, most saying they'd watch it on tv or seen it in person when they were kids but Kusaiki was absolutely clueless " What's the Sport's Festival?"
The class went silent.
Kusaiki looked around at the frozen students and sighed " This is what I get for not watching tv as a kid" She rubbed the back of her head before a few of her classmates slammed their hands on her desk making her jump " YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THE SPORT'S FESTIVAL?!?!?" Mina and Aria yelled in front of Kusaiki's face.
" Er-No?" Kirishima paled, " How could you not have seen it!?" The six in front of her waited for her answer.
" I was never really into watching that kind of stuff as a kid, I was too busy thinking of my dad and helping out at home, I didn't have time for it" Kusaiki shrugged her shoulders and gave out a sigh " You're joking right?" " Uhm- No?" " Park-san there's no absolute way that you've never seen a sport's fest" Sero crossed his arms pointing a finger at her. " Nope– Never"
" WHAT?!-"

After school Kusaiki was walking with Aria to the station " You really haven't seen a sport's fest before?" Kusaiki looked down at the brunette and shook her head " Like I said in class– I didn't have time for it" " What about junior high?" Kusaiki tensed " I was helping my mom run the cafe, school work and hung out with my dad" " Hm- So in all that time you couldn't watch the channel? Seems weird" Kusaiki huffed " Can we just drop it? Please?" Kusaiki looked at her feet before stopping at the train door's.
" Shinagawa Prefecture now boarding"
Kusaiki looked back to Aria " I'll see you tomorrow, Aria" Aria gave her a wave " See you tomorrow" The bluenette walked onto the train and found a seat facing away from Aria. The train started moving and Kusaiki watched as her friend slowly got smaller in the distance"
" Momma I'm home" Kusaiki came through the backdoor and walked into the main building " Oh! Sai! Honey, come here" Kusaiki walked over to her mother, setting her bag on the back counter " This lovely man came in saying he's in your class!" Kusaiki furrowed her brow before looking at the person in front of her mother.
" O-oh hello, Park-san!" Kusaiki's jaw dropped " M-M-Midoriya!? What are you doing here?" Midoriya laughed a bit " I saw the cafe and wanted to stop by, I noticed your mother and thought it was you at first until she turned around, Haha" Kusaiki stood in horror " Can we– Uhm" Kusaiki pulled at her shirt collar " Talk outside?" Midoryia nodded and followed behind Kusaiki to the alleyway behind the cafe.
She came to a halt making Midoryia bump into her back " Oof-" " What are you doing here??! You don't live near here! You live in another prefecture! Midoriya what the hell?" Midoryia just rubbed the back of his head and gave her a nervous laugh " Well- you see?" " Spit it out Midoriya" He gulped " Well– I was wondering if you could train with me until the sports festival arrives, It's in two weeks and–" The greenette looked at Kusaiki's face to see a hard scowl " Eh- I mean you don't have to train with me if you don't want to!" He shook his arms around frantically. Kusaiki sighed and crossed her arms waiting for him to finish his ramble " I need to work on my quirk and you just seemed like the perfect person to train with since you have a good grasp with your quirk and I–"
" Fine"
Midoriya squeaked " What?"
Kusaiki straightened her posture then leaned to get to his height " I said fine- But.. If I don't see an ounce of improvement in the span of five days I'm quitting. Got it?" " Uh! Yes Ma'am-I mean Park-san!" Kusaiki grinned " Okay since that's settled- How'd you know where I lived?" Midoriya looked behind him and gave another nervous laugh " Park-san, You do know we ride the same train right?" Kusaiki blanched " Oh right-" Kusaiki straightened herself again and looked over at Midoriya " Midoriya" " Y-yes?" " I want you to meet me back here tomorrow evening, Okay?" " Go-Gotcha!" Kusaiki grinned and put her hands behind her back " Soo~ Since you're already here want to get something to eat?" Midoriya smiled then shook his head " Sorry, I would but my mom's waiting for me at home with dinner– Thanks for the offer though!" Kusaiki nodded and reached for the door " Well, see you in class Midoriya, Good night" Midoriya had been walking down the alleyway then turned to wave to her before turning the corner.
Kusaiki walked back inside the cafe to see her mother closing the cafe door's and locking them. " Oh Saiki, did your friend leave?" " Mhm- His mom was waiting for him" Her mother smiled " Well, You head on upstairs and I'll make dinner" Kusaiki nodded " Okay momma" The girl opened a door and headed up the staircase to be met with a dark green door, she opened it and took off her shoes " Dad? Are you home?" " Saiki! I'm in the office" Kusaiki put her bag down on the entryway table. She walked into the office and saw her dad holding up some papers by the printer " What's going on at work now?" Her dad sighed " I need to file all of these documents and send them overseas to the U.S for a game that the company is working on, I just can't get this formula right"
Kusaiki held out her hand to her father and he placed the paper in her hand. She skimmed over the paper and handed it back " Just swap the 4.67 and 18.35 and divide it" Kusaiki's father just stared at her in awe " O-Okay" He grabbed his tablet and punched in the numbers.
" Trial Complete"
Her father smiled " Sai- You did it!" Kusaiki was lifted into the air " Dad! Put me down!" He swung her around in circles and laughed heartily.
" Oh my-" Kusaiki's father stopped and put her down, once her feet found the floor she wobbled a bit from whiplash. " Cheong, You know she get's motion sickness quickly" " Oh- Maiori dear, I thought you were still downstairs, haha" " Go sit down- dinner's ready" Kusaiki's mother helped her get to the table and settled to eat.
" How's school, Sai?" Kusaiki lifted her head from her hand and swallowed her food. " It's good, " We were told about the Sport's Festival, that's coming up in two weeks. A friend of mine asked to help with training so my weekends might be a bit packed" Cheong nodded and stuffed his mouth with rice " Who was the friend that came over today? Midoriya, you said?" " Oh yeah- Midoryia thought that I'd be the perfect person to train with since his is hard to train with. He said something along the lines of ' It would just make sense' or something" " And the date with that boy?" Kusaiki spat out her water, Her parents feigned a look of shock " Date?! I didn't go on a date!" Maiori snickered a bit " Come on Sai, I know when you have a crush on someone" Her mother covered her mouth to laugh
" Yeah like that Mika kid, you used to hang out with" Her father butted in after swallowing some braised pork.
Kusaiki's chopsticks dropped on the table as she stood from her seat " Dad, you know I don't talk about him anymore– he left me… We were friends, and he left.."Her mother gave a scowl to her husband as he sank into his seat " I'm gonna go feed Mango.." " Okay dear, good night" Kusaiki headed up the second set of stairs that led to her room. The fairy lights that hung from the ceiling dimly lit the room, the teen turned on the light switch, and different colored lights lit up the room, her window slightly open, letting in the breeze. She walked over to a glass tank with a handle on the front.
A red bearded dragon sat on the rock in the enclosure, basking under the heat lamp. It's black eyes opened, and it's head turned to the side." Hey Mango, Are you hungry, boy?" The lizard's tongue licked it's eye. The red dragon climbed down from the rock and towards the glass. Kusaiki opened the glass tank and reached in to grab the dragon. She then closed the door to the tank and took the lizard to her desk. She grabbed a container with hornworms in them.
She placed Mango down on the desk and grabbed a bowl and jar of calcium. " I'm almost done, Mango. '' The lizard started tapping it's feet on the wooden desk, practically demanding it's food. Kusaiki put down the bowl and sprinkled some calcium in it then dropping three hornworms inside before picking it up again and shaking them around she grabbed some tongs from a drawer and grabbed a hornworm holding it in front of Mango " Easy boy" Mango stared at her for a second before grabbing onto the hornworm.
Kusaiki put the bowl down and placed a finger on Mango's back, stroking it softly. " Let me know when you're done, Mango!"The lizard ate the rest of the hornworms and tapped it feet on the desk.Kusaiki walked back over to the scaley lizard and picked him up to put him back in his cage.Kusaiki grabbed her phone and scrolled on her feed, slowly drifting to sleep.

Kusaiki awoke the next morning to her alarm and father shouting at her to get up." Sai! Get up! You got school!"Kusaiki groaned in annoyance." I'm up!" she groggily sat up and turned on her lamp.She looked at the time and quickly got dressed and headed downstairs to the cafe. Her mother and father were about to open shop. She walked behind the counter and grabbed herself a cheese danish. " Hey, Saiki?" Her father asked." Yes, Dad?" " Look, kiddo, I'm sorry about last night. That was rude of me." Kusaiki looked at her father and gave him a small smile. " It's alright, dad. It's just a slip up. I gotta get to school now - I'll be bringing Midoriya with me after school."Her father gave her a smile and ruffled her hair.
" Be good, love you."
" Bye-bye, Sai!"
"Bye!"
School had been long, Kusaiki talked with Kirishima most of the day, Aria was ignoring her from the day before. She felt guilty for snapping at her. She put off an apology for now, For now, Kusaiki needed to figure out how she would train Midoriya.
" Hey Midoriya- You can just walk home with me."
Midoriya turned to face Kusaiki as she called out for him. " Oh yeah! Let me just grab my things." Kusaiki threw her bag over her shoulder and waited by the door. " Ooo~ Park-san you and Midoriya, That's wild." Mina came up from behind Kusaiki, spooking her " What?"
" Are you and Midoriya dating?"
" Huh?!? N-No!"
Midoriya walked up to the girls, his bag on his back " Uh- Park-San? Ready to go?" Kusaiki nodded and headed to the door, Midoriya following behind her.
" So how are you going to train me?" Midoriya glanced over at Kusaiki as they boarded the train " I actually don't know yet- I have a certain technique when it comes to fighting and well- you... don't? It's hard to know when I've never seen you fight before." Kusaiki placed her bag in front of her on the train's floor as Midoriya sat next to her " I get that. Maybe we could help finding me a style then train with it?" Kusaiki crossed her arms " Possibly- We could try that first I guess." Midoriya gave a hum in response leaning back in his seat.
Once the two got to Kusaiki's house they headed to the basement in the cafe " My dad built this gym in here- He wanted to do the best he could in helping me control my quirk more." " Doesn't he have a quirk similar to yours?" " He's quirkless, Not like it's bad or anything, he just felt like I needed the gym. So he built it for me"
" And your Mom?" Midoriya quelled, It's rare for people with quirkless parents to get a quirk. Maybe it skipped her parents and came to her?
" She's quirkless too. My grandparents on both sides had quirks but married quirkless people, kinda crazy right?"
" A little" Midoriya gave a small laugh. He looked over at Kusaiki to see her wrapping her hands " Well- Let's get this training done." Midoriya nodded and headed over to her.
After about two hours of Kusaiki practically beating Midoriya up they took a break to eat and catch their breath.
" Midoriya your left-hooks are sloppy. If you're gonna win a fight with an ending move like that you need to put more force behind it."
She came up to stand beside him, She put herself into the same stance as him and held her fists up in front of her. " Make sure you hit where you plan to. It won't effect the target as much if you don't." " Got it" Kusaiki then waljed in front of him " Now try on me." Midoriya paled " Wh-What??! No! I can't do that!" He frantically waved his arms around. " You haven't landed a single punch on me, I'm training you for a reason, so hit me"
Midoriya gulped, he formed his fists and squezzed tightly before charging at Kusaiki pulling back to throw his punch.
Kusaiki turned to the side in the last second before his fist made contact with her cheekbone. As he flumg himself at her again she raised her arms to block his rapid punches " Come on Midoriya! Hit me with all you got!" Kusaiki egged him on. He threw a punch to her shoulder and stomach. Midoriya noticed that his punches barely affected her.
They continued to throw punches at eachother, Until a knock came to the door. " Sai, Midoriya-san?" Kusaiki's mother opened the door to see the two panting, Kusaiki had her hand in Midoriya's hair pulling his head back, and he had a leg on her stomach making her arch forward, Kusaiki's other hand was on his shoulder and his on her forehead " Oh my-" Kusaiki and Midoriya let go of eachother. " Sorry- Yes Momma?" Kusaiki's mother looked at her daughter as she walked up to her " Oh! Dinner's ready. Would you like to stay Midoriya-san?" Midoriya gave a quick nod. " Well- Clean up and head upstairs alright?" " Okay Momma" The two teens got cleaned up and headed upstairs to Kusaiki's house abouve the cafe. " How was training with Sai, Midoriya-san?" The teen looked at Kusaiki's dad and gave a small smile " I don't know how I'd word it- Brutal? Helpfull? I don't know, She's good at it though" Kusaiki looked up from her rice bowl.
" Oh- Thank you Midoriya, you aren't as bad as I thought you'd be" Midoriya choked on his rice " Was that a complement?" Kusaiki's dad asked her. " If you wanna take it that way then sure." Kusaiki continued eating her food.

The next week Kusaiki and Midoriya trained with eachother, that next Monday, Kusaiki headed to class. She talked to Kirishima again before Kaminari joined them to talk about a new video game. " Yeah the main characters named Leon, He's lowkey fine as hell." " Sounds like a cool came Denki" Kusaiki shook her head at them " No no you need to play Final Fantasy, It's the best game I've played in my life."
" That games stupid Park-san..."
" No it's not, Cloud is my darling."
" Yes it is-"
" Okay everyone- I know you all have been training for the Sport's Festival. And now you have a chance to prove yourself to pro's so you become aspiring hero's... "
"The U.A Sport's Festival is here."
