Author's Note: This idea just popped into my head, and thought I'd share it. Enjoy!

"Jane, are you mad at me?"

"What? Because you implied to another man that I'm gay?" she retorted, and saw her companion flinch out of the corner of her eye. "No Maura, I'm not mad at you," she stated.

"Really?"

"It's not like I was interested in Giovani, or any other Italian Bostonian, so it won't come back to bite me too much," she answered honestly. "But if it gets to my Mother, you are explaining it."

"All right, do you think she'll be mad at me?"

"Probably not. She'll think it was sweet that you let him down easy," she elaborated before her companion could prompt her. "Just do something for me, all right?"

"What?"

"When a guy says the phrase 'soul mate' to you, use that logical mind of yours to pick apart why he's wrong."

"Why?"

"If I hadn't been there to run interference, you would have ended up with Giovani the licker," she spoke dryly.

"Point taken, and I promise," she vowed. "So, you're really not upset with me?"

"No," she answered firmly. "My way of putting him off didn't work, and at least that sunk in."

"Eventually," they spoke in unison, and started laughing. "God, I feel sorry for the woman who ends up with him," Jane spoke sincerely.

"There are some women that are content only with physical intimacy."

"Yeah, but what do you do with him once that's done?" Jane retorted and they both laughed again. "There's only so many times you can send him off to fix something," she pointed out. "And, what happens when your sex drive lessens."

"They could always divorce him," Maura remarked.

"Depends how devout a Catholic they are," Jane remarked. "Anyway, shall we talk about something more interesting than Giovani the licker and his prospects?"
