Author note: this chapter reveals morea bout hinata past witg her ex boyfr3und his name is nit reveal can you guess who is it?

Hinata looked at her house, Hyuga mansion, the place where she grew up. It had been a while since she was here but it still felt nostalgic when looking back from time to time.

She loved this house but the house itself was still so big that the feeling of homelessness she felt during her childhood was almost unbearable. She wondered how she managed to get into such an amazing family.

Her cousin Neji and her younger sister Hanabi always adored her. While her father seemed to be still mad at her for being a doctor, she still decided to come back home since Hanabi was going away for university in a different country and she wanted to say goodbye to the young adult first.

The only difference was that Hanabi would be living alone which made Hinata feel even more worried about her younger sister in a different country.

She knew Hanabi could handle herself but she just hoped that there would not be any bad encounters in other countries that would make it harder for her to return.

Although she tried to convince Hanabi to go back home if it got too stressful, Hanabi insisted that her studies were more important than her safety. Even though Hanabi was really smart and brave.

Hinata wore a loose pale skirt and a baggy turtleneck along with some light shoes since it was late spring and snowing outside. She grabbed the small luggage from behind the door and started walking slowly towards her destination. She could already smell the familiar scent from the front door as she approached the entrance hall.

"Hinata sama" Neji greeted her with a light nod. Hinata smiled at him, "Neji, it's good to see you again".

She hugged Neji who hugged back. She could feel how stiff he was and realised she might have been clinging too hard.

He pulled away after a few seconds with an embarrassed expression, "How are you?"

Hinata giggled at his response," I'm fine, you know me better than Neji".

"Yes I do, you're always happy." He nodded and gestured to the left "Are you ready?

We can walk together or we could take a car". "How about a car?" She suggested and smiled at him

"Do you want to go to the lavender garden like we used to go when we were younger?" He asked as they walked to the entrance gate

"you remember those days so well!" She exclaimed in awe and followed him to the car

It was true that the garden was their safe place when they were younger.

The rose bushes had become very popular because both of them liked the beautiful blooms and flowers and it was also fun to play in the gardens on rainy days.

They used to spend the entire day together and sometimes, they would just hide in there till Mom found them later and scolded them for playing games so late.

It was their family garden that was a little away from their house

and they often played hide n seek and tag there until it became snowing and freezing in winter and they went back home with tears of joy.

As she drove them, Hinata thought about the memories and how everything changed a long time ago but it did not seem to hurt much anymore.

They grew up, their childhood was gone, and now their life was buried with responsibilities and expectations.

But somehow, things just seemed so peaceful today and that was exactly what they needed.

To feel calmness for once.

When they reached the lavender garden, they both stood in silence before taking their places

In a few minutes, Neji joined her as she sat down on one of the chairs.

The flowers bloomed beautifully and their scent filled the air surrounding them. The soft melody of birds chirping in the nearby trees gave the whole scene a relaxing atmosphere.

The weather was mild today and a gentle breeze blew through the garden making a slight rustling sound around them.

She looked at her brother

who was observing her, "what?" she asked softly, "Nothing, just thinking."

His deep voice resonated through the warm space they were in

The warmth brought her back from the present and she realised how much she missed these moments and memories.

Their relationship was weird because of their differences.

"do you still remember when we used to eat ice creams at midnight" he mumbled

Hinata giggled lightly at his statement

"Of course I do" she answered smiling fondly "It seems like ages ago". They spent their whole childhood together and they knew each other's secrets by heart.

The past year passed by like a dream for both of them.

"How are the young kids that you work for?" Neji asked, his face showing concern, "they are alright right?"

"Yup, they are fine. They have grown quite nicely in the meantime" she replied happily as she remembered the cute children,

he sighed and leaned forward

"I'm glad to hear that your life turned out alright"

"The Hyuga clan never changed, didn't it?" she shook her head, chuckling lightly, "but you are right.

We still manage to do what you taught us." she said sincerely

"That doesn't mean you won't change," he warned but Hinata could already feel the smile creeping to his face.

" I changed my destiny, you changed yours and so does everyone else".

she said, with a confident tone

she watched as the corner of his mouth twitched slightly, "I guess so, what's new in Yakiniku restaurant anyway?".

"Umm, they still serve your favourites when you come to Tokyo, just visit that place with me.

They still have that delicious beef bowl that you always loved".

He grinned widely at her words "Of course, I'll gladly accompany you anytime and anywhere". She couldn't help but let her lips curl upwards at his words.

"Hinata!" she heard a loud noise.

And saw Hanabi running toward them

"Hinata san!" she said excitedly

her face was bright red due to the cold. She looked like she ran from school.

Her hair was messy but her eyes were sparkling

"What is Hanabi?" Neji asked.

Hanabi took a deep breath trying to catch her breath,

"why didn't you tell he Hinata is coming back the maids told me that you and Hinata are here in the garden"

The young Hyuga hugged her elder sister and started crying silently. Hinata patted her head gently

"Hanabi don't cry okay? I've missed you too"

She reassured the girl who clung to her shirt like a koala.

She turned to look at Neji and said "I'm sorry I didn't call you".

"you are so mean big sister you came home without telling me"

"I am sorry I wanted to surprise you"

she apologised sheepishly

She noticed that Hanabi stopped crying for now and looked up at her.

The two of them stared at each other for a few seconds. Her gaze held a mix of happiness and sadness. But in a moment, the sadness disappeared and Hinata swore to always try to protect her younger sibling.

"I am home Hanabi," Hinata said softly "I've missed you very much".

Hanabi's face lit up once she heard Hinata's voice and she hugged her older sister tightly, "miss you too, sis!". She whispered in her ear.

Neji could just smile at them, he also hugged his sisters, they laughed and cried together after hearing their voices.

After spending half an hour laughing and enjoying each other's company, Hinata finally let go and turned to Neji,

"Neji, do you have anything prepared for dinner tonight?" she asked curiously

"I have plans tonight," he smiled smugly at her.

…………

Hinata's room was still the same

after all of these years.

Even the plants have grown up from the previous ones.

Everything looked the same except for a lot of new pictures hung on the wall. One of them was Hinata's graduation picture with their mother and father while another one was a picture from when she went on a trip to Osaka with the elders.

She felt so nostalgic when looking at the picture. All of these memories were connected to their past life and they made her happy every time she was reminded of it.

She was sitting on her bed with her knees curled up against herself.

The dim lights that were hanging above her bedside table made the white walls and her blue bed sheets glow a soft golden colour which complemented her pink comforter perfectly.

There was a small window right next to her bed and it allowed enough natural light to shine inside her room.

The music was playing quietly.

Her favourite song was playing in the background

she closed her eyes as she listened to the soothing melody.

"It is raining"

She opened her eyes and turned to look at the door as she heard it open slowly.

Hanabi and Neji entered the room, the latter carried some food and Hanabi walked behind him holding a couple of cups full of hot chocolate.

They both smiled at her and Neji approached her bed to sit next to Hinata

"We brought chocolate chip cookies. And hot chocolate"

The rain got a little faster and soon drops started falling outside. She shivered a bit due to the sudden change-temperature change. Hinata stretched herself onto her bed and grabbed a cup from the coffee table to sip on the hot chocolate.

Hanabi sat beside her as Neji placed everything on her desk.

Hanabi collected the pillows making a pillow castle.

She then threw a pillow to Neji which hit him straight in the eye.

"Hey! What was that for?" he yelled, annoyed. He was about to

throw the pillow back but Hanabi caught it first.

"You are so mean," she teased while rolling her eyes and throwing the pillow back.

They both continued tossing pillows in front of them

and laughing and teasing each other.

Hanabi managed to NejiNeji on his leg while he was busy throwing the pillow at Hinata

So he chased her around the room and Hinata ran away from Neji.

Hey, hey, hey!"

"let's watch a movie!"

They stopped and stood side by side in front of the TV in front of her window.

Neji handed her the remote and she selected a film. They sat in front of the television on the floor.

It was a comedy movie. And it had no special plot. It just focused on silly people talking loudly.

Hanabi snored lightly, resting her head on the pillow

Hinata and Neji were sharing popcorn between the two of them and laughing at the jokes that the people on the screen would make.

Neji put his arm around Hanabi and held onto her tightly, moving her from the futon and keeping her on the hHinatabed so she could sleep peacefully.

"Hinata San, are you working with someone?" he asked, sitting beside her.

"yes I am working with Uchiha San's daughter she is my new patient" She smiled at the memory of Kei and sasuke.

" Which uchiha elder or younger?"

"sasuke uchiha"

"Oh, that arrogant one is bossy while dealing with the business deals," Neji scoffed.

"no, he is not like that he is nice and sweet with his daughter"

"I guess fatherhood changed him"

"yes he has changed but he is the calm one like he used to be in high school"

"is like _"

His name rang a sudden memory once again in Hinata's mind; he was not going to leave her mind no matter how many years passed.

The air was crisp and the warm breeze of autumn was here. She was walking down the stairs of her school. Her uniform was fixed properly. She had just finished some duty which was suggested to her by her teacher. She didn't finish her lunch feeling hungry and cursed at her teachers.

"Who even gives these works to students during lunch break" she muttered under her breath she just started high school and the start was a disaster the wark breeze kissed her face she didn't feel like a beautiful actress In a movie she felt like a normal girl whose face was burning with sweat after finishing a task

She also cursed her fate. She cursed the universe. She didn't feel like coming to school today. The only thing which was good about this school was her best friend. She enjoyed spending time with her best friend.

She was now going back to her classroom so she could have her lunch and have some talk with her friends and complain about the work she did. As she was walking down the stairs she saw some seniors passing by her but her eyes landed on him.

His eyes locked with her Lavender eyes her eyes widened the moment she looked at him his face covered with a mask his hair dancing through the warm breeze of autumn she could see his face but it felt like the world where she was alone he was there with her even though she didn't know him her world seemed to stop the moment she saw him.

She felt that warm and fuzzy feeling inside her stomach. Was it because of his good looks or something else that her eyes saw in his eyes? It felt like she saw something in his old soul.

She thought she saw him going up the stairs and she was coming down his eyes fixed on her and her fixed on him he seemed like home to her isn't it even though we don't know that person we still fell in love or take a liking towards the person we never saw or never know personally in our life.

Her new feelings about that guy were cliche and stupid according to her but little did she know that guy she had a small eye encounter with will become the guy she will dedicate every story she wrote in her journal she compare every guy who flirt with her with the boy she saw at the staircase he became so important to her that she only see him in her dreams.

She didn't know anything about him not even his name but she made some scenarios about her and that boy and she knew it was wrong because she fell in love with the version of him she created inside her head she can't do anything about it she can't stop the feelings she has for him inside her heart and mind she likes him and she knew it.

"his name is _"

She heard that from her classmates when she asked about that strange boy she looked at the stairs.

She saw once again him in her dreams she left her hometown 10 years ago because of her job she never thought of going back she knew she never forgot him but he still kind of became a vivid memory in her mind it felt like some connection was calling her back to her hometown she had to go there because of some construction work.

The last time she saw him was probably at his farewell party that the school gave the seniors. She saw him standing under the moonlight. He wore a light black sweater since it was the time of January. His hair shone brighter under the light of stars and moon and his face curved into a smile.

She also wore an outfit similar to his. It felt like they both once again matched. She still had feelings for him even though they both never talked but she fell in love with him and she doesn't know why there are some stages in love that we can't explain or understand. The human mind is a complex thing.

It's destiny, fate or soulmate they all sound like a fairy tale to her now she didn't want to believe this but she has fallen in love with the guy she never talked to or knew anything about him because her complex mind created a different wet version about that guy but one thing she will thank the stars about the time she got to spend with him.

The fragrance of expensive wines and drinks spread around the room. She could hear the soft music playing inside the room, everyone facing slowly. The lights were dim. It was Friday night, the night she will always remember her heart. Why didn't she talk to him? If they both could have talked then they could have been friends or a couple.

If she talked then she and he might be slowly dancing under the dim lights of this beautiful twilight in each other's embrace sniffing each other's soft prints and fragrance. She could touch his skin but she knows she will never see him again.

……….

"Hinata sama is sasuke like _" Neji once again repeated his words.

"no"

"Please Hinata sama don't hurt yourself once again I know you have already lost him but please don't fall in love with someone like him once again you will only get hurt"

He stroked her back. She could feel the tiny pearl of tears in the corner of her eyes. She wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and again smiled at her elder brother who was hugging her.

"I won't hurt myself once again Neji he was more than a crush and a first love"

"I know Hinata sama he was your first kiss your first love your first time and your first everything"

"I still see him"

"he forgot about you Hinata sama" Neji clenched his fist.

"he didn't it was all just destiny and an accident that made him drift away from me"

"I know all because of an accident your life turned upside down"

Neji agreed it was all because of an accident that Hinata lost her first love it was hard for her to see someone new. She couldn't see anybody now and not only that it was hard for her to see young children because she knew it would only remind her of someone dead that she lost.

"Do you still see Misaki when you see young infants? "

"I….. Still her lavender eyes with Auburn hair, her pale skin listlessly in front of my eyes Neji" She wiped her eyes with the sleeves of her sweater.

"She didn't deserve to die at such a young age"

"No one deserves to die, not even Kei San's mother." She smiled faintly as she heard Kei and Sasuke talking about how Kei's biological mother died.

"Kei sasuke daughter? " Neji asked.

"yes "

"She also lost her mother? "

"yes and she kind of reminds me of Misaki "

"I am glad that you are healing Hinata. " He pulled the comforter up so she wouldn't feel cold. He laid her down on the bed.

"Neji time can heal people but the twisted and dark fate can leave scars that can't ever be healed" she muttered.

"Hinata, will you be okay seeing him once again at the school reunion? "

He switched off the lights. The room was still lit up a little bit because of the moonlight that fell onto her midnight blue hair and her pale skin shone brighter.

"I have to face reality Neji"

"yes you have to even if it's disappointing"

He sighed and left her room leaving her in her thoughts as she listened to the rain she slowly drifted into her thoughts she was close to sleep.
