Carmilla could feel her anger coursing through her veins like fire even after her mother had left. How dare Lilita come check up on her when she was doing exactly what she asked? She was seducing Laura in her own way and was going to bring her to her mother, right? The more she talked with Laura, the more she began to question this.

Laura watched the Dean, also known as Carmilla's mother, leave the coffee shop after knowing she had pissed Carmilla off.

"Do you want me to leave?"

"What?"

"You look like you swallowed poison and expect your mother to die."

"She loves to appear unexpectedly to see my reaction."

"So do you take all your dates to this coffee shop?"

"No."

Carmilla wasn't lying when she said that either because she had met the women at the bar where she met Laura. It was typically a one and done deal, but not with Laura. She wanted to spend more time with this human. There was something so interesting about her and she couldn't put her finger on it.

"But you do go on dates?"

"Yes, but I haven't been on a serious one like this."

"We're serious?"

"Just take my word for it."

Laura smiled at Carmilla, who smiled back at her.

"As exciting as this conversation is, I think that we should move it to another place."

"To where?"

"Your bedroom."

Laura almost choked on her coffee.

Carmilla started to laugh again at the look on Laura's face. She was so cute when she was embarrassed. She hoped to make Laura blush more often the longer they spent time together.

"I wasn't joking."

Laura was thinking of throwing coffee on Carmilla, but could see that she was just messing with her.

"It's quieter then where I live."

"Fine, but no funny business."

"What do you take me for? Edward Cullen?"

Laura rolled her eyes at Carmilla and put on her helmet.

"Let's go."

Carmilla threw their coffees away and put on her helmet. She got on the motorcycle first and waited for Laura to get on it too. Laura swung her leg over it and wrapped her arms around Carmilla's waist. Laura pressed herself against Carmilla's back. It felt cool against her skin, which she found odd.

"It's not cold here, so why are you cold?"

"Bad circulation?"

"Not funny."

Carmilla started up her motorcycle so she didn't have to answer Laura. Laura sighed and said she'd ask Carmilla once more why she was so cold. What was she, a vampire? Laura laughed to herself at that thought.

Carmilla and Laura were in Laura's dorm room. Betty, Laura's roommate, was annoying the living daylights out of Carmilla, which was amusing to Laura. Carmilla wanted alone time with Laura, but could tell that wasn't going to happen.

Betty was being loud and obnoxious, asking Carmilla very personal questions, which she ignored.

"You still want to stay here?"

"No, but I don't want to leave once I'm comfortable in a spot."

"I didn't know Laura would bring her date back to her room. Trying to score, Laura?"

"Shut up, Betty. Carmilla needs help studying."

"So you're her new "Study Buddy", I got it."

"It's not like that, Betty!"

"Sure it's not!"

Betty started to laugh and Carmilla rolled her eyes.

If Carmilla was after Betty, then she'd easily be able to seduce her without any trouble, but she wasn't a challenge at all. Laura, on the other hand, was and that was what made her fun.

Betty sat on Laura's bed, which made Carmilla pull Laura close to her. Laura heard her own heart beat speed up. Whatever was happening was happening so fast. She was loving the way that Carmilla was being so protective against the harmless Betty.

"Carmilla, what are you doing? Trying to put some moves on my roommate?"

"Shut up, Betty."

"Your "tough girl" act isn't going to scare me off."

"Maybe knowing I'm the Dean's daughter will."

"You're who?"

"She's the Dean's daughter."

Betty scooted off the bed and went back to her own.

"Whatever."

Thankfully, Betty was too engrossed in her phone call to pay attention to Carmilla and Laura for the rest of the night.

Carmilla was resting against Laura's yellow pillow with Laura lying next to her. They were reading the same textbook and Carmilla moved closer to Laura to feel her warmth.

Laura was reading this textbook for the first time, but Carmilla had read it several times over the years. She had been at Silas University for at least five years, if not longer. She lost track after getting her second degree at the university. She made sure to not get her picture taken, if possible.

But at this moment, she wished she could take a picture of the two of them together. It would be a happy memory she could keep with her forever even after Laura was gone.

Laura had finally fallen asleep and was resting her head on Carmilla's arm. Carmilla didn't want to wake Laura up, but she also had to leave before the sun rose. Thankfully, she wasn't going to burst into flames if she saw the daylight, but it made her exhausted and weak. She knew Laura would be worth it though, so she closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
