Carmilla wanted to make sure she heard Laura correctly.

"You trust me?"

"Yes, Carmilla, I trust you. I might not know much about the relationship between you and your mother, but I do know that from what you've shown me, she's a cruel woman."

Carmilla remained on Laura's bed and laid down on it. Laura laid down next to her and both of them were staring up at the ceiling.

"What about your mother?"

"I don't remember much because she died when I was very young, but I do remember her always being very kind to me. She loved me and she showed it every chance she could."

Whatever was happening between her and Carmilla, Laura was drawn to Carmilla and couldn't explain it.

The moment the mysterious woman showed up at the bar was the moment her life finally stopped becoming so boring. All she did was study because she didn't have friends on campus.

Betty and her weren't friends, they were roommates and Betty drove Laura crazy half the time. Ever since Betty met Carmilla, all she could do was ask about Carmilla. It was like she was the one crushing on Carmilla and not Laura.

Speaking of Betty, she had appeared in the room without either Carmilla or Laura noticing.

"Oh hey lovebirds, didn't see you two."

"We're not lovebirds, Betty."

"Sure you're not, Laura. Anyways, I was wondering if you wanted to go to a party with me tonight, Laura? You never have any fun!"

Carmilla rolled her eyes, "She has plenty of fun with me."

"Yeah, not that kind of fun."

Carmilla let out a growl and it made Laura almost fall off the bed. She wasn't expecting that. Carmilla had night classes, so she wasn't able to go with Laura, even if she wanted to.

"I have classes tonight, but if you go Laura, don't do anything Betty would do."

"What are you trying to say?"

"Just keep Laura safe, I'll be back after my classes to make sure you two got home safely."

Carmilla couldn't concentrate on her final class. She was glancing at her watch and seeing how late it was. Hopefully, Betty was able to keep Laura safe from her mother, for the time being.

As Carmilla arrived at Laura's dorm room, she saw Betty passed out on her own bed with Laura nowhere in sight. The vampire shook Betty awake, who tried to knock her hand away, but failed.

"What the hell, Betty! I give you one thing to do tonight and you couldn't even watch over Laura."

"Shh, you're too loud."

"She left you at the party?"

"No, she never went with me in the first place. I asked her if she wanted to go, but she said she had better things to do than party."

"It's going to start raining soon and I doubt she'd want to be out in the rain."

"She's your girlfriend, go find her yourself."

The Dean was pacing her room angrily and threw a glass at the front door of her office when a shapeshifter walked in.

"Oh finally you've arrived! Do you know how long I was waiting?"

The shapeshifter chuckled, "Patience isn't one of your values, is it?"

"I need you to bring me this student and to transform into this person."

The Dean gave the shapeshifter a photograph of Laura and Carmilla that the Dean had taken without their knowledge.

"I need you to bring the blonde one, Laura, here by any means necessary. The dark haired one is named Carmilla and is my daughter. I need you to do this as quickly as possible."

"What if I have to drag her here?"

"Then do it!"

"If she gets injured?"

"Then that's a risk I'll have to take."

"Very well, be back shortly then."

Laura was walking toward her dorm room when she bumped into someone, the shapeshifter.

"Watch where you're going!"

"I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Carmilla?"

"Oh hey there, Laura."

"Are your classes over already?"

Carmilla shrugged, "They let us out early."

Laura had spent enough time with Carmilla to recognize her scent and something seemed off about the person in front of her. This Carmilla wasn't as affectionate towards her.

She wrapped her arms around Carmilla and touched her back, which didn't cause her to flinch. This was odd because Laura knew for a fact that she had a large bruise there. She slowly let the shapeshifter go and started to run, causing her to drop her books in the rain.

The shapeshifter chased after her and tackled Laura to the ground. She let out a small cry as she was tackled because it had caused a cut on her lip to appear and it was bleeding.

"You're coming with me. You can either come quietly or I'll hurt you further."

The shapeshifter transformed back into her original form and helped Laura stand up. She held onto Laura's arm tightly, so she couldn't run away. Laura was trying to think of ways to escape, but the grip tightened on her arm as a warning.

"I can snap you like a twig, but I was told to not damage you too badly."

"Who the hell sent you?"

"It doesn't matter. Just shut up and you'll be fine."

The rain began to pour down harder and Laura was soaked by the time she reached the Dean's office. The Dean was sitting in her leather chair when she stood up as she saw Laura come into the office with the shapeshifter.

"Lovely to see you, Laura."

"What do you want?"

"I wanted you here for myself because you've been interrupting my plans that I have for Carmilla. You're distracting her and if you keep doing that, then I won't be able to continue what I've been doing."

"And what have you been doing?"

"You'll find out soon enough, dear."

The shapeshifter had forced Laura to sit down in the chair in front of the Dean. The shapeshifter left and Laura was now alone with Carmilla's mother. She was terrified of the woman in front of her. If she could hurt someone as strong as Carmilla, then she could hurt Laura even worse.

Carmilla was running through campus looking for Laura and when she noticed that not many people were out on campus, she decided to risk turning into a large black cat. She was able to cover more ground and picked up her scent on a pile of fallen books. She also smelled someone else too and recognized it as being one of her mother's minions.

She made her way to the Dean's office, but nobody was there. She turned back into her vampire form and trashed the place. She was beyond angry with herself and with Betty. Why didn't she just bring Betty to her mother and Laura would've been left alone?

She went back to the dorm room, took Betty with her, and made her way to her mother's house. She was blaming Betty for what was happening even though it wasn't her fault. She did the one thing she didn't want to do to a human and decided to use glamor on Betty.

The Dean and Laura had left the office and made it to the Dean's house. Laura was angry that she was now a captive of the Dean and if she was as dangerous as Carmilla was trying to warn her about, then Laura wasn't safe. Was this how things were going to end for her?

The Dean had tied Laura to a chair and gave her something to drink, which Laura spit out.

"I'm not drinking or eating anything you give me."

"What did my dear Carmilla tell you?"

"She didn't have to tell me, she showed me."

The Dean was furious that Carmilla would betray her that way.

"If you're not careful, then your fate will be much worse than what I did to her."

Laura was frightened by this threat and kept her mouth shut until she heard a knock at the door. She began shouting then and the Dean covered her mouth, but Laura bit down hard, so she let her go.

"Do that again and it won't be pleasant."

The Dean made her way to the front door, opened it just a crack, and smiled.

"Hello, Carmilla. What do I owe the pleasure?"

"I brought someone else. Is Laura with you?"

"Laura? No, I'm afraid not."

"Don't lie to me."

The Dean laughed in Carmilla's face and slammed the door.

Laura tried to knock her chair over and was successful, which caused it to break a little. She took this time to bite through whatever was used to tie her up. It easily snapped apart and she was making her way to the door when the Dean was standing over her.

"If you hurt me, then Carmilla will hurt you too!"

"I'm not too worried about that."

The Dean reached down to look at Laura and she used her glamor.
