AN/This is a very quick thing. I was listening to Vanilla Twilight by Owl City and just wanted to write something. Again, this is on my phone, so I'm sorry for mistakes in grammar and formatting.

Chandler was in Oklahoma for the week. Something about somebody in his department filing a document wrong and it messing up the system was stopping him from visiting. Honestly, Monica wasn't paying attention when he explained it. It was like she went completely numb.

She had no one to blame but herself. It was her idea to live in separate states after he got transferred. At the start, the excitement of her new job kept her occupied. However, it's been three months, the novelty of the job wore off and her husband is still gone. Sure, the pay was better and she loved having her own kitchen, but it wasn't worth going to bed alone every night. The look of disappointment on Chandler's face when she told him she was staying was edged into her brain.

Monica looked out of the window, watching the sky turn dark as the sun finally went down. The apartment was deathly silent because it takes two to whisper quietly. She looked down at her hands and felt the emptiness crash on her like a wave. Monica balled her hand into a fist to close the spaces where his fingers fit so perfectly.

Tonight, she had to find a new way to fall asleep. It's been two days since she got the call and she hasn't slept since despite feeling exhausted.

She dragged her body to her bed and felt herself shiver at the nostalgia of her warm husband that went cold in his absence. Tucked in, she felt drenched in his smell that still lingered in the fabric.

Monica shifted under her sheets, looking at the empty space next to her. Every night she lay awake, missing him. She tried to think of him coming back or happy memories they shared so she wouldn't feel so alone.

Their friends tried to tell her it was fine, that it was only a few more days, but they didn't understand. Each time her eyes closed she thought of him. Each blink brought tears.

Eventually she would doze off at a late hour, but she missed his arms around her. Missed the warmth his body gave and the kisses he'd place on her forehead. The last thing on her mind before she fully fell asleep,

"Oh Darling, I wish you were here."
