Long, long ago, there was a land named Fiore. It was a peninsula, connected to the nearest land by a forest. The kingdom was a prosperous one, with great trading businesses and beautiful landscapes. The kingdom was ruled by a wise king. His name is Acnologia.

Acnologia is the sixteenth king to have sat on the throne in Fiore. He had a great childhood with both his parents loving him. His mother passed away when he was ten and his father grew ill when he was fourteen. At the age of sixteen, he found himself alone after the death of his loving father.

For two years, Acnologia studied. His top subjects were politics, geography, and economics as that is what a king needed to be a successful one.

And so, he became king at the age of eighteen.

And then, he met Anna.

Anna Heartfilia was her name. She was beautiful with her bright, blonde hair and doe eyes. She was a new maid at the castle and was in desperate need of money. Her father had gambled away everything they had and she needed this work. Acnologia found this woman intriguing, not to mention her beauty.

And so, he asked her hand in marriage.

He was the king, regal and handsome. He was smart and had a good sense of humor. There was nothing bad about him.

And so, she agreed. And slowly, she started to fall in love with him too.

A few years later, they had a son and named him Gray. He came to be known as Gray Fullbuster. First in line for the throne. Anna and Acnologia loved Gray and pampered him so much. Gray had Acnologia's looks with raven hair and raven eyes.

Two years later, Anna was pregnant again. Except this time, the doctors and physicians warned Acnologia that giving birth to this child meant that Anna would die. Anna didn't want to kill the child in return for her life. Acnologia didn't go against that wish either.

Years later, he regretted it. He regretted it so much.

A girl was born. A girl with bright, blond hair and brown doe eyes. A girl with Anna's smile.

Anna was dead.

Acnologia wept and wept. He couldn't get over the death of his beloved wife. He loved her too much. He refused to even look at girl - who they named Lucy - because of her looks.

When Acnologia finally restarted, things went into a bad turn

He became mean and ruthless. He increased taxes and changed the laws. Soon, Fiore once known as the prosperous kingdom, came to be known as the worst kingdom to live in.

Worst of all, he stopped loving his children. Well, stopped loving Gray.

Gray reminded him too much of himself that Acnologia started to loathe Gray for it. He loved Lucy and pampered her, spoiled her with riches. Gray remained invisible to his eyes.

Gray wasn't that sad though, he had Lucy, who was a kind soul. She was kind to everyone and treated everyone the same. Gray loved Lucy and Lucy loved Gray.

But then, Lucy disappeared. Without a trace. Some thought that she was kidnapped. Others thought she ran away. She was declared 'lost'. Either way, Gray was orphaned with his unloving father. The only one that loved him was gone. She had left him alone to fend for himself.

Except, she hadn't done that.

She hadn't run away, nor had she been kidnapped. She never was missing in the first place. So who did all this, you ask?

Acnologia did.

You see, the death of his wife had blinded Acnologia very much. To the point he learned dark magic just to bring her back. He studied dark magic and had so much of it that he had to store it somewhere else.

He was also afraid. Afraid that Lucy would die, leaving him alone like Anna did. He was also afraid she would leave him, because of a man.

So he decided to lock her in a tower in the middle of the forest separating Fiore from Ishgar. The tower had no entrance, only Acnologia could enter, using his dark powers. He decided to lock Lucy up in the tower to protect her from the dangers of the real world. Keep her safe.

Only one person knew this. He was the kingdom's treasurer, Acnologia's best friend. Rogue Cheney.

"When can I go back, Papa?" A twelve year old Lucy asked Acnologia as he played cards with her. She had been in the tower for six years now, and longed to see her brother Gray.

"The world is a dangerous place." Acnologia warned. "There are those who would take advantage of your beauty."

"But Papa, I want to see Gray..."

"I know sweetheart, but..." he motioned for Lucy to come sit next to him. He grabbed a brush and started brushing her hair with it.

"Your beautiful eyes are coveted by most men. Men are horrible creatures Lucy."

"Even you?"

"No, of course not."

"What about Gray?"

Acnologia paused for a moment, wondering what to say. Deciding to say 'no' to please Lucy, he shook his head.

Lucy sighed in relief.

"Your hair is so beautiful, Lucy." Acnologia murmured.

Lucy giggled. "Thank you."

And then, he stopped. Hair. That was a great place to store his excessive magic. In his hair. Wait. People would notice if he suddenly grew hair - especially his annoying son Gray. So he needed to put his magic in someone else's hair. And he knew the perfect person.

"Say Lucy," Lucy turned and faced Acnologia.

"How would you like to have long hair?" Lucy saw his eyes glint with creepiness.

"I want to have long hair but-"

"No buts! I'll give you long hair."

He brushed his hand through her hair and all of a sudden, it began to grow. Grow and grow.

"Woooowwwwww." Lucy stared at her hair in awe.

"Yes." Acnologia couldn't believe how much magic he had. With this much, there was only a bit more time until he brought Anna back.

"See you later, darling!"

"See you, Papa."

Years went by. Acnologia was becoming a nuisance to the populace and certain people were deciding to rebel against him. Throw him off the throne and let someone else sit on it. Prince Gray - the one everyone was pinning their hopes on had followed in his father's footsteps.

These people, the 'fairies' as Acnologia called them, were spreading their ideas among the towns. Whenever a member of the royalty or guards were present, they would chase the rebels and capture them. Hanging them in the town square to teach everyone a lesson.

Not only that, feminism is also rising amongst these people. Lead by a red-headed female, many women were leaving their husbands and joining the protests for equal women's rights.

Meanwhile, the blonde beauty waits to see the day she is reunited with her brother.
