In a world of nymphs, mermaids, fairies, angels, werewolves, demons, and dragons exists a mythical pearl called the glass pearl. The glass pearl has the ability to grant a person one wish. Thus, many seek it - hoping to make their wish come true.

But what no one knows, is that the pearl - in return for granting the wish - has two consequences.

One: The pearl will disappear and appear in another place.

Two: The person most loved by the wish maker, will turn to glass.

Two dragons seek it.

One demon seeks it.

One angel seeks it.

And one nymph possesses it.

Join her, as she tries to return the pearl to its rightful owners and attempts to keep the pearl safe.

Before we start, dear reader, we must understand some things about this world. It is a different one from ours and it is only natural that we get some background information on it. First I shall introduce all the species living in this world.

Mermaids and Mermen: These are species that have a human body waist up. Waist down, they possess long tails instead of legs. They are fast swimmers - in fact, they are the fastest species in the ocean. They are kind beings, that protect all sea animals and wish for nothing but peace. They live in colonies, usually ruled by the strongest male. Though the ruler will be called king, there is no social inequality between the mermaids and the mermen. These species are one of the few that do not turn dark.

(A/N dark in this story means harboring evil thoughts, doing evil things, or loving someone who has done evil things.)

Fairies: Include both men and women. These are species that look like a human most of the time but are capable of turning into butterfly-sized humans with wings. They carry wands with them which they use to cast spells. The fairy can cast spells without their wands, but it will be harder to control their magic. They do not live as a colony but as separate people. They are kind and look beautiful but - beware! - are quite capable of fighting, both verbally and physically. The fairies turn dark when they do a bad deed, such as stealing or killing without reason.

Angels: Include both men and women. They live up in the heavens and come down rarely. The angels are kind and compassionate and welcome every guest that wishes to enter. There is a group of angels, that were raised like warriors, who protect the heavens from being raided and becoming impure. These warriors are called Heavenly Knights. The Heavenly Knights are the only angels from the heavens that are allowed to fight or kill. Angels turn dark as soon as a thought of a bad deed crosses their minds. Dark angels cannot stay in the heavens - as they are impure - and will land on the Earth below.

Werewolves: Werewolves are half-human half-wolf beasts that rule the forests. They have the choice of what to look like - a wolf or a human. The pack - usually consisting of 5 or 6 werewolves - is ruled by the Alpha. Werewolves are the most secluded species of all species in this world. They live in forests, come out rarely, and keep to the forests. They don't like noises and they prefer the silence of the woods. The werewolves usually eat the beasts found in the forests. Female werewolves can reproduce without a mate. No one is quite sure about the behavior of werewolves as no one has actually met them and lived to tell the tale. It looks like they are unwelcoming... Werewolves do not turn dark are already dark.

Dragons: Dragons are friendly and kind creatures - minus the looks, of course. The dragons have the ability to turn into humans, but pure dragons do not. Female dragons, like werewolves, can lay eggs without a mate. Dragons live everywhere and love to travel. They do not have a 'king' but they do follow a set of rules that seems to make sense. Dragons don't use magic unnecessarily or go into fights. They possess a lot of magical and physical power. They are - possibly - the strongest species in this world. Some dragons do turn dark and break the rules that all dragons must follow. These dragons are usually isolated from the group and possibly even killed.

Demons: Demons live in Hell and are the complete opposites of angels. Demons are the most ruthless and cunning creatures you'll ever meet. They steal, they kill and they do all the bad things one could possibly imagine. They are creatures with no rules. They are cruel - so cruel in fact, that other species cannot survive in Hell without their life force being taken away from them. There are some demons, that wish for the greater good of the world, but being demons no one trusts them. These species do not turn dark because, like the werewolves, they are already dark.

Nymphs: Nymphs are beautiful little creatures that live in a village up north. They prefer to stick to themselves and not to mingle with other species. Nymphs have an abundance of magic. In fact, one nymph would have the magic to light 500 houses! Nymphs are knowledgeable creatures and possess different kinds of magic. Nymphs inherit magic from any one of their ancestors. This means a water nymph might have a fire nymph daughter because one of the ancestors of the water nymph was a fire nymph. Nymphs do not turn dark. If they do, they die that instant.

Great! You know all the species! But, wait. Before we can talk about the characters of this story... we must understand one thing.

Marriage or love between different species is forbidden.

Why?

Because of a great mistake made in the past - 400 years ago - by a demon named Zeref and a fairy named Mavis.

Mavis was a beautiful fairy who fell in love with a demon named Zeref. Zeref reciprocated her feeling and soon they got married. They were living happily and they would have lived happily if not for a dark dragon.

Acnologia.

Acnologia was a dragon who turned dark because of the things he did to species weaker than him. He killed and tortured and he loved watching the sorrow of other species.

Soon after Zeref and Mavis were married, Mavis turned dark. Her growth stopped and her hair lost its color. She didn't mind - and neither did Zeref - because they both still loved each other, unconditionally.

Zeref had a little brother, whose name is unknown, who loved Zeref and Zeref loved him.

But he was killed.

It goes without saying, Zeref set out to fight Acnologia, his anger blinding him. Mavis begged him not to go, but he was drowned in sorrow and anger to realize the great mistake he was going to commit.

Mavis could do nothing. So, she sat there, praying for Zeref's safety and waiting for him to come back. That's when she noticed that, even though Zeref's brother was dead, his heart was still beating.

Meanwhile, Zeref was losing the fight with Acnologia.

"You are a fool! No species can stand against me, for I am, and always will be, the strongest!" Acnologia roared before slashing Zeref and killing him.

Mavis, after hearing about her husband's death, did two things in her rage.

1. Seal Acnologia in a cave, for 400 years.

2. Put Zeref's brother in a revival lacrima until he is revived.

But doing so, cost her all her magic and she began to fade away from existence.

The species had learned a lesson. Never fall in love with another species. If you do, bad things will follow and you can forever weep like Mavis weeps for her husband.

But a group of people is going to break that rule...
