"You're going to hurt yourself"
"What? Pfff I'm doing just fiiiine"
Balancing on a wet fountain edge with no shoes on, while slightly more than tipsy was, in fact, not considered doing fine. Well, as long as Rouge didn't fall, though, she should be fine, right?
Shadow uncrossed his arms, getting slightly more prepared to step in if her perfect balance wavered.
"Five. little. ducks. went. swimming one day~!" Rouge sang sweetly, putting one leg in front of the other. Her wings were flapping a bit more erratically with every next step.
"Please, step off or you're going to swim in a moment."
"Aw, is that a threat, handsome?"
He didn't answer. Instead, Shadow took a step towards her and reached up a hand in an invitation. Raised it a little to accent his intent.
Which Rouge deliberately ignored.
And when she got to the second verse of her little song, she thought she was balanced and sober enough to jump in place.
Good thing for Shadow's immaculate reflexes.
Slip of her foot, a loud yelp. Shadow launching himself a little bit too strong. Even when he grabbed her hand, she fell down yanking him with.
Eyes wide, Shadow's only thought was "shit".
And then they were wet.
Rouge sat with her expensive black dress in the fountain, soaked wet. She froze, blinking with raised eyebrows, startled by her sudden dipped state of horizontal wetness.
And then she wailed "Shadow! Look what you've doooone!"
Her hands splashed the surface in a tantrum-like huff.
Shadow, sitting right next to her with his ears pulled back, wasn't much drier either. And he just watched Rouge, while the fountain spray still poured down on their heads.
It got to his eye and he had to shield his face even if there wasn't any use now.
He noted how Rouge's makeup started slightly running down her cheeks and he couldn't help but snicker.
Rouge whined again and splashed the water at him.
"Stop laughing at me!"
He chuckled. "I'm not laughing at you!"
Another splash. "You're mean! Stop it!" But there was humor in her voice. They were… such idiots.
Shadow splashed her back. "It's your own fault we're both wet"
She wiped her eyes from the water still trickling down her face and looked Shadow over. He still sat with her in the shallow water, with a weird half scowling, half laughing expression. His quills were lowered from the watery impact as well.
Rouge pointed at him with laughter. "You're soaked!"
"So are you! Your fault!" he jabbed lightly at her forehead.
So she jabbed him in his chest.
She got a pushing jab on her cheek, which made her hiss with her fangs out.
Shadow almost giggled. But then an armed assault of bat claws jumped him all of a sudden and pinned him down into the fountain floor.
Rouge was laughing and in no way she meant to really hurt her partner. Maybe she was just a little drunk to properly think.
But she yanked him up after she noticed his face was under the surface.
"Rouge!" he coughed, "Woman, you want to kill me?"
"Aw don't be so silly", she pouted, wiping his face off the excess of water. "You're the ultimate hunk aren't you? You'd be fine".
He grabbed her wrist, not strong, but enough to stop her from drowning him again. He chuckled though. Drunk Rouge was a hazard but she didn't mean it.
"Okay, okay… you win. Let's get out of here before either of us dies… or catches a cold"
Rouge gripped his suit's collar and yanked him towards herself, their faces inches apart.
Oh, of course Rouge would want to express her absolute game in a moment like this.
"I'd gladly perform CPR on such a handsome face like yours."
Of course her absolute game would take an effect on the poor hedgehog's heart.
His eyes refused to leave hers to look at her pretty red lips curved into a sly smirk…
Aaaand then he looked. Great.
Rouge smirked, her drunken gaze seemingly clearer than a few moments ago.
"So… we wouldn't want us to get sick now, would we"
Shadow swallowed before getting more comfy even if Rouge still had her hands on his collar. "You're more prone to-"
"Take us home, Shadow." Rouge didn't let him finish and instead put a finger on his lips. "I'm tired of the party anyway."
Understanding her intent, the hedgehog gave her a soft smile, his lips curved against her touch when he spoke.
"Fine. I'm okay with that"
