Class A's performance was a huge hit. They had gotten Eri to smile and she also had a lot of fun.
Now the Culture Festival was over. It was now the evening, the sun was setting and everyone was exhausted. Everyone except one Mina Ashido who suggested that they all go out to karaoke to celebrate. "Screw that, I'm going to bed." Bakugo said loudly, but not as loud as usual. Everyone else followed suit, too tired to do anything else. Only a few others remained.
"Oh, hell yeah!" Kirishima shouted, "I am SO down for karaoke! I even got the perfect song in mind already!" Ashido smiled and nodded, glad that he was onboard. Also onboard was Deku, Uraraka, Tsu, Hagakure, and surprisingly Todoroki.
After putting on better clothes more suitable for a night out on the town, the seven teens headed out to the karaoke parlor and rented out room 004.
"Alright," Mina started, "we've got this room for the next 2 hours so there's plenty of time to get their turn. Now who wants to go first?" She looked around at the other six in the room, five of whom were still looking through the list of songs. The one who wasn't was Kirishima who was waving his raised hand rapidly while also bouncing up and down in his seat and giving the biggest, most eager grin. "So I guess Kirishima will go up first, is everyone okay with that?" Ashido asked. "Sure, that's fine," Hagakure responded, "I'm still trying to pick a song anyway."
"Me too." said Deku.
"Me too." said Uraraka.
"Me too, ribbit." said Tsu.
"I'll also need more time." said Todoroki.
Mina nodded and said, "Alright, come on up Kirishima! Do your thing!" Kirishima immediately got up to the mic as Mina sat down with the other to order them some food.
Kirishima was removing the mic from the stand as a loud and chunky guitar rift started. Kirishima stood totally still as he lightly bobbed his head to the rift.
And then the drums kicked in.
Yeah! Huh!
Put your hands up! Up! Up! Up! Up! Up! Up! Yeah!
Kirishima had started hopping and jumping around, waving his hand out in front of him in the same manner as the early rappers of the pre-quirk era.
Yo check it!
It's complete hell
Deep down I feel just like a pet
They call my name
Now sit roll over up now play dead
No thank you
I got what I need when its just you and me
That's when my mind is free
Just thinking of you it helps me get through
All the things that they do
I jump through the fire
Where there ain't no place left to go
Try to make me concede and Ill fight and Ill bleed
This is my best; put me to the test, yo
I'm comin at ya both real blazin
Boot pow, double shot, knockout punch
And yer ass is on the floor
The group were all surprised by the bars Kirishima was spitting. Maybe he would've been made lead singer had they known of this ability of his. But That wasn't all he had up his sleeve.
Fly away now, out the window
Here we go, follow me girl
Fly away now, out the window
Here we go, follow me girl
And now they were shocked that he could actually sing. Why couldn't he sing this good when initially showing off his "singing ability" before the festival. Maybe some people just work better with certain songs than others. But they would digress.
Your illusion, takes me cruisin
They try to kill music, can't catch it, I'm free
Your illusion, takes me cruisin
They try to kill music, can't catch it, I'm free
Check it out!
Its the state of the world
The shit they line up in the dirt
They fall in place
Buy this buy that
Now put on this shirt
No thank you
There's nothing you can say
That can take me away
Or make me break and obey
Just you and a song
Can help me along with the infestation of wrong
I get behind the wheel
Though I never know where I go
I lead from behind with the side of my mind
Into the night, keep him out of sight yo
Comin at you again
With a shit eating grin
And a pipe to the chin
Boot pow, double shot, knock out punch
And once again you're on the floor
Fly away now, out the window
Here we go, follow me girl
Fly away now, out the window
Here we go, follow me girl
Your illusion, takes me cruisin
They try to kill music, can't catch it, I'm free
Your illusion, takes me cruisin
They try to kill music, can't catch it, I'm free
Your illusion, takes me cruisin
They try to kill music, can't catch it, I'm free
Your illusion, takes me cruisin
They try to kill music, can't catch it, I'm free
Everyone clapped as the track faded away and Kirishim put the microphone back on its stand. "Yo, that was awesome!", shouted Ashido, "Why didn't you tell us that you could actually sing?" Before he could answer, Deku asked, "That was Beck, right?" Kirishima looked shocked, "You know Beck?" he asked to which Deku responded, "Yeah, I love Beck, they're one of my favorite bands!" Kirishima was so stoked that he was no longer the only one who liked Beck.
"Who's Beck?", asked Uraraka. "Beck were a Japanese rock band from the pre-quirk era, considered by many rock historians to be one of, if not the, greatest rock band of all time," answered Deku. "But if they were so famous then why don't we hear of them anymore?", asked Ashido, to which Kirishima answered, "Well that's actually because of regional copyright issues. You see, when they got distribution in America they couldn't use the name "Beck" because there was already a band with that name. So while here in Japan they were called "Beck", in America and the rest of the world they were called "Mongolian Chop Squad". "So a lack of meaningful brand recognition then", said Todoroki to which Kirishima said, "Pretty much, yeah."
"Well whatever the case", said Ashido, "I think we all can agree that Shima's performance is gonna be hard to beat."
The rest of the evening went on as they all sang their hearts out. In addition to Kirishima, the highlights of the evening included a duet between Deku and Uraraka performing "Follow Me" by the Rocket Boys, and Todoroki's shockingly lively rendition of "Cautionary Warning" by a short-lived metal band called Black Heaven.
After their time was up, they decided to get some food as the food that they ordered, Takoyaki and some Ramune, weren't very filling. They settled on a local pizzeria called Dario's which was delicious as most local joints tend to be when compared to the bigger more famous chains.
After a long evening, the seven went straight to bed after arriving back at the dorms. Ashido went to sleep that night thinking
that they should all do karaoke more often.
THE END
