Secrets Of The Magical Child

Chapter One

"Night of Magic and Wonders"

December 10th, 1980

It was a clam and peaceful night; the dark clouds were hung over the city of London threatening to spill a thick blanket of snow over the population at any given time.

Winter was one of the most beautiful and magical time in the year and it had come in full swing in the early month of December. December and January were the months of extreme brutal winters with its harsh and bitter winds. The trees were completely barren, as it trashed against one another, loudly.

Glistening snowflakes had softly descended from the dark gray clouds upon the kingdom. There were hardly any person in sight. People were chilling in their warm homes, safe against the cold weather, drinking hot coco and having s'mores and so on.

Away from the City of London, nearly an hour or two drive, in the west side of country of England was a small village that was filled with various muggle families. Smoke from the chimneys had lifted up into the cold crimson air.

A certain wizarding couple was preparing to go out for the night to enjoy themselves after being locked in their own cottages for several months. It was taking a mental toll on a certain man's health and mood due to not leaving the grounds of his own cottage. James had insisted on going out on a date with his lovely wife for a change, while leaving their only child in the company of their close friends from their Hogwarts days Sirius and Remus.

The woman had glanced at herself in the mirror, swiping on the red lipstick on her lips, adding the final touches of her make-up. Her lips and curved into a warm smile. In a way, she was utterly relieved by the fact that this was her only chance to go out with her husband James and have a nice night.

After all, ever since Lord Voldemort heard about the prophecy that had involved their infant son, Harry, she, and James had gone into hiding—where he wouldn't be able to find them—in order to protect their child from Voldemort's wickedness.

Naturally as that sounds, James and Lily had no longer stayed in contact with the Wizarding World for the time being in fear of being caught by one of the Death Eaters who would spill their whereabouts to the Dark Lord.

It had been a difficult choice to make for James and Lily Potter. James, who was a pureblood, wasn't accustomed to living the way of Muggles nor was he fond of giving up the magical life in Godric's Hollow. A place where he grew up in. A place where he wanted to raise his only son and to show young Harry all about his mischievous adventures. A place that was filled with blissful magic.

The moment Lily had spilled from her lips about a quiet place up in the West of the of the midlands where her family used to live, James had deeply frowned and tried to convince her out of the idea. But it was of no use. He couldn't disagree with Lily, knowing that his wife was right in the end. It was the best protection that they could possibly offer for their son and James would do everything in his power to keep his family safe—away from Voldemort and his dark followers, the Death Eaters, until they were defeated for good.

Lily had let a small smile tug her lips while adjusting the curls of her hair. She heard a soft knock on the door and the door creaked opened.

James had popped his head in to check up on his wife. His large hazel eyes had fallen his beautiful woman. A wicked grin flickered on his lips, while he approached Lily from behind. He leaned in and whispered in her ear. "Are you done, my love?"

Something warm had filled Lily's chest as she gazed up at her husband who was several inches taller than her. "Almost. I just need to grab my coat from the closet and we're ready to leave—"

"And you keep forgetting you're a witch who could use a wand." James teased his wife playfully, who simply rolled her eyes. With a flick of his wand, James had summoned Lily's dark furry coat and he had helped her to wear it.

"Thank you, love." Lily gave her husband a peck on the cheek, only for him to fiercely blush.

James had watched her in fascination. He had truly adored his wife to ends of the world. There was always something about Lily that enticed him from her gentle words to the way she kindly acted, and the way she had doted on their sweet little boy. Lily was the perfect woman. A perfect wife and mother. Truly, James felt like he was one of the luckiest wizards alive to marry Lily.

Lily had noticed that her husband was staring at her. "Is something wrong, James?"

James's train of thoughts had shattered upon seeing the concerned look on Lily's face. He furrowed his dark brows. "What. Not at all. I guess I can't stop staring at how beautiful you are Lils."

Lily's face had gone bright red in the face, nearly rivaling the color of her hair. James had always got a mouthful of words to say to her which would leave her speechless and blushing.

"We better get going before it gets late, James." Lily had kindly reminded him.

"Right." James said, looping his arm around his wife's shoulders.

The couple had spotted their friends entertaining their young son in the living room as they walked down the stairs.

A warm smile graced Lily's lips upon hearing her son's laughter echoing through the cottage. Bright colorful lights had erupted from Sirius's wand—dazzling through the air as Harry had tried to grab it with his chubby hands—giggling. Her bright jade-green eyes glowed in joy over the sight of seeing her son who was smiling at both his parents.

Harry, just like both his parents, had loved magic.

It amused Lily to see that Sirius was dressed up in his wizard hat and playing peek-a-boo with their son, who'd enjoyed this type of game with James. Sirius had made several faces that made Harry squeal in delight.

"Hello Remus, Sirius." Lily greeted cheerfully.

Remus gaze had fallen on James and Lily who just appeared in the living room. He had given them a warm, but lazy smile. "Hey Lils."

Sirius had finally turned his attention onto his best-mate James and his wife Lily, somewhat scoffing. "It's about time that you finished Lils. Merlin, I never knew how long it takes a woman to get ready before going out."

Lily's jaw dropped—astounded. Sirius had always been so outlandish with his comments which had made her to ignore him completely. "I beg your pardon, Sirius. If I may remind you, you take way longer than me whenever you want to go out and impress women."

Remus had chuckled under his breath, meanwhile James had averted his gaze away from his best-mate and snickered.

At this being said, Sirius had a cool smile on. "You make a fair point Evans. I can't deny that, but your son has been begging for his mama for over an hour."

It had made Lily's face light up, leaving James side and approaching her son who was being held in Sirius' arms. Harry's arms were outstretching to Lily. He wanted his mama.

Lily had softly stroked her little boy's messy hair and pressed her lips against his forehead, gently. "Oh, my sweet Harry, mama loves you. I'll be back baby. I promise."

James was behind his wife—glancing at his son with a wide smile. "You better not give Sirius and Remus a hard time while we're gone Harry."

The baby boy had blinked his jade-green eyes—not understanding a single word that had been uttered from his James' lips.

"Are you sure it's safe for you two to be going out in such a time like this?" Remus asked, lifting an eyebrow. He was genuinely concerned about his friends' safety during such a stressful time.

"We'll be fine Remus." Lily had reassured Remus calmly. "Where we're going is a place that I'm certain no Death Eaters would dream of being in."

"You have to remember that we defied Voldemort three times and escaped his wrath. . . and the nasty Death Eaters." James said. "And I'm sick of being trapped in this cottage. I need some fresh air you know."

Remus was skeptic. Worry had flickered in his bright green eyes. He wasn't entirely sure that. . . his trains of thoughts had broken.

"Remus. . .don't worry. Just trust us, alright." James emphasized, clasping a hand on Remus's shoulder for reassurance. "We've got each other's back."

"I know that, but this time it's different. I mean you've got Harry in your lives," Remus reasoned with James.

"And if something were to happen to us, you know the drill," James had reminded Sirius and Remus of the plans that they had discussed together if something were to go wrong with James and Lily.

Lily had her arms clung in James' and looked at Sirius and Remus with a serious expression. "Keep your wands out of Harry's reach. And don't do anything I wouldn't do."

Remus gave a simple nod and Sirius had swallowed hardly, recalling their last adventure with Harry who had somehow gotten to holding one of their wands at the time, and had destroyed the ugly vase Petunia had sent to Lily last Christmas.

Lily hadn't minded the vase being destroyed. But what she had minded was coming back to the cottage being a complete disaster. Lily had made Remus, Sirius, and James clean up the entire cottage for getting it all messy. It had amused her seeing how the men had to scrub the muddy floors without using magic.

"You worry way too much Lily. Harry will be fine with us." Remus had flashed her a bright smile. "Promise."

"Ugh, for the love of Merlin, just go on that romantic date of yours. I don't need Prongs getting all snappy on me just because he didn't leave the cottage." Sirius had winked at Lily.

"Excuse me?" James was appalled by Sirius's words—dramatically horrified. "Since when do I get all snappy on you, Padfoot?"

Sirius rolled his grey eyes—ignoring his best-friend's words. "Honestly, you don't know. Lily's been writing letters to me, explaining how your mood has gone downhill ever since you'd been copped up."

James was scarlet in the face.

"I mean, you two deserve to spend quality time together, after all you've been hiding in this house for months. I would've lost my sanity." Sirius admitted.

"Well, then, we're leaving." Lily piped up, easily snapping James back to reality.

"And we'll be back before you know it." James made sure that his entire look was adjusted before taking their leave—glancing at the mirror that was hung on the wall. Everything seemed to be perfect and with that James and Lily had left the cottage.

It was one of the most beautiful places that James had ever witnessed and was utterly impressed by Muggle's inventions. Everything from the calming, instrumental music that was being played in the restaurant, to slow dances between other couples in the center. The lights were rather dim—giving off such a romantic and beautiful vibe.

Lily had her coat off—revealing to be wearing a black-sleeved dress that reached above her knees with black stiletto heels, and her red-hair was in soft curls. James was decked out in a button up long-sleeve shirt and black pants.

"I have to admit, the Muggles are quite impressive with the things they come up with, no?" James said, taking a sip from red-berry wine, enjoying the view. The man was always fascinated with the Muggles way of life even though he would barely understand it.

Lily had given a small nod.

James had easily caught the look on his wife's face. A grin tugged his lips. "You're thinking about something. . . Hmmmm? I wonder, what could it be?"

This had made Lily perk up in interest as she glanced at her husband. "Do you know what I'm thinking about?"

A sly smile expanded on James' face. "You're thinking about how lucky you are marrying a handsome wizard like me."

Lily had chuckled. "Maybe. I'm just thinking about how much you changed and you're a lot more careful now that you're a father."

James was touched by Lily's words, as his expression softened on her. "You know I'll do anything to keep you and Harry safe. You two are my world."

Lily had glanced at James who stood on his feet; his gaze had fallen down on Lily while he had outstretched his hand to her.

"What are you—"

"Would you like to have a dance, Mrs. Potter?" James' white teeth had gleamed under the dimmed lights.

The heat had rushed to Lily's cheeks—blushing furiously. Seeing her husband's charming display of affection towards her had made her heart skip a beat. James had ways to make her fall in love with all over again—deeper and brighter. She couldn't live in a world where James. . .wasn't there to share it with her.

Her red lips had curled into a warm, smile, as Lily had placed her hand in her husband's. "I will gladly take you up on your offer, Mr. Potter."

James had led his wife to the open dance floor. He gently placed his hands on her lower waist and held Lily's hand with the other. The two began to sway back and forth to the soft, soothing instrumental music. James had gently twirled Lily.

"You're the best husband I could ever ask for," Lily whispered seductively. At this point, she had her arms wrapped around James' neck. Her jade-green eyes glistening with so much love.

"And I have to say, you're an incredible woman Lily. I'm glad that you gave me a chance to date you during our final year at Hogwarts." James admitted, though his cheeks had reddened out of embarrassment over the silly memories of his younger 'arrogant' years in trying to persuade Lily into going out with him.

James had leaned in slowly, and pressed his lips against his wife's soft, rosy-red lips that was filled with utter passion.

Lily had felt the utter warmth sparking between her and James that had made her heart skip a beating rhythm. Just being in his strong, protective arms, Lily felt like she was in safe haven.

"Oh, James. . ."

The woman had nearly forgotten such a wondrous, and pleasant experience. A feeling she hadn't felt in a long time. For once, she had wanted to slip back into the world of freedom and doing simple, but normal things for once. To go out again. To embrace the beauty of life and to share these moments with their beloved son.

James and Lily were walking down the streets of the town. The young couple had noticed that there was a bunch of young teenagers lingering around with their friends. Some people were out building snowman and tossing snowballs at one another as if there were two different teams. Others had done snow angels on the ground.

The night couldn't be even more perfect than it was. It was magical in so many different ways—ways that Lily had wanted her son to grow up in, with no fear, but with showers of love, happiness, and bright days.

Snowflakes had once again had started to fall from the clouds. The bitter winds had started to pick up.

"One day, once Voldemort is permanently gone, we'll be doing this with Harry." James commented upon gazing at a beautifully done snowman that had been built by a young family. "We'll have lots of family fun."

James had turned to Lily to see that she wasn't listening to him, but rather focused on something else. Her expression had grew serious with a tinge of somberness hinting in her jade-green eyes. The smile on her face had vanished, turning into a deepened frown. Lily's red-brows had knitted together.

"Did you hear that, James?" She glanced at James—distress over taking her lovely features.

"I don't hear anything Lily." James furrowed his brows, confused. "Are you sure?"

"Yes. I'm certain." Lily said.

"I don't—" Lily placed her finger on James's lips hushing him up. "Shhh. . . listen carefully James."

James's bright hazel eyes had fluttered wide open, as his mouth dropped, completely bewildered by what his ears were hearing. It was a baby's cry. A very faint cry at that—almost inaudible to the ears.

"The source of the cry. . . it sounds. . . like a baby. . ." Lily had tried to the best of her abilities—looking all around the sounding area to see if there was a child nearby, crying its eyes out. It was a heartbreaking wail that Lily knew all too well. The source of the sound, it was like coming from a nearby. . . "I think—I might know where the cry is coming from. Just follow me, James."

"Lily. . ." James had appeared to be unconvinced of wife's words. "Wait. . . what if it was some kind of ploy? A distraction? What if it was a trap set by the Death Eaters?"

James had looked to see that his wife was gone within the minute, trying to follow the source of the cry. "Lily!" James had ran after her with a wand in hand in preparations. "Wait!"

Lily, no longer hearing a single word that her husband was uttering, was more concerned of the infant's cry that was seemingly getting louder from a nearby alley. Worry and fear had plagued Lily's heart. She held her wand—casting a faint light in order to see as there was no lamppost in a deadened alley.

The alley was completely narrow, and dirty. Trash and filled every corner of the dead end-alley and it had a strong, odor smell that had made one sick to their own stomach. Lily was ignoring the foul stench as it wasn't important to her at the moment. Her jade-green eyes had widened to see something illuminating in the darkness—something bright with a tinge of orange-yellowish hue.

Instantly, Lily had rushed to the source of the low, emitting light at the end of the alley. The orange-yellowish hue had seemed to be coming near by the large dumpster that was filled with garbage.

The moment Lily had stumbled across the source of the light—her eyes had fluttered wide open, in outrage by the scene she was witnessing. Tears had sprung to her eyes. Lily had her hand covering her mouth. Her stomach had twist and turn in all directions, making her feel sick to her stomach. Her head had spun all around.

Utter indignation had rose on her face. Never once in her entire life had she heard or witness something so heartbreaking, mind-blowing, and just. . . just so disturbing.

Who in the bloody hell would leave a tiny baby in such a horrible and despicable place? The redhead woman couldn't believe what she was witnessing—it was a nightmare. One that had boiled her blood.

"Lils!" James hollered from behind her—trying to get her attention.

A little infant was all alone, naked, with an umbilical still attached to the belly button, weeping in distress. Lily had bended down to the crying infant. Tears had poured down Lily's face in heartache—almost feeling numb by the sight. The baby, Lily noted, was a girl, who was covered in blood and a white creamy looking substance all over her skin.

"Merlin's beard!" James was horrified. The man was shook to the core by the sight of the infant who continued to weep for help. He couldn't believe his own two eyes.

"James, give me a blanket or something! Someone dumped their hours old baby girl away," Lily seethed angrily; her heart was shattered to a million of pieces.

Lily mumbled cursed words under her breath to the people who had tossed out their child like she had meant nothing to them. It was utterly inexcusable—no reasoning would make Lily to forgive the infant's parents even if it were an accidental pregnancy. Or perhaps it had been a foolish young girl who had gotten herself knocked-up and wanted nothing to do with the baby, thus throwing her child away near the dumpster. A perfect place that no one would ever come across the child—allowing it to simply die in the coldest winter.

It was despicable in every ideal situation even if the parents of the baby girl would claim of not wanting a magical child due to being a freak and an abomination. There was other options besides tossing out a baby to the streets. Lily heard and seen it all among muggle-borns and it just tore her heart to pieces.

The magical barrier was shielding the infant from the brutal icy-cold weather. The area was completely covered in thick white snow, despite the many trash that was littered all around, and the overflown garbage.

James had summoned a nice, silky, warm blanket for the infant child and handed it over to his wife, who gently scooped up the wailing baby girl into her arms. Lily had wrapped the baby in softest quilt—tucking the child and making sure that the girl wasn't freezing to death. That barrier must've kept the child safe and warm.

Poor baby. Lily deeply frowned.

Lily had easily cooed to the girl, trying to get her to stop crying. She had gently cradled the baby back and forth as the baby had slowly quieted down. Seeing the infant all alone, abandoned in the deadened alley had crushed her deeply. Lily was always worried about her son constantly, every second, minute, and hour of the day.

The child slowly opened its eyes, revealing to be dark blue, which was a common color in all newborn babies, and yawned tiredly, as if finally feeling safe in the arms of an unknown woman.

"I—" James had no words to utter from his mouth except unkind things to say about the parents who personally neglected the baby girl. "The baby can't be left alone."

"Let's be thankful that the baby girl was protected by her magic. If she wasn't magical, then she wouldn't have survived this long. . ." a cold shiver had wracked Lily's body at the prospect of the baby girl dying in such a horrible condition. The baby was truly blessed and lucky for inheriting magic. " . . . the people who abandoned her. . . it's unforgivable." Lily had tightened her grip on the baby, who soon fell asleep in her arms peacefully, no longer crying.

It had touched Lily's heart to see that the baby girl had found comfort and safety in her warm arms. Complete serenity had lingered over the woman and the baby.

"Let's take her home." Lily said, her gaze never tearing off the infant.

James blinked his eyes a couple of times—stunned by his wife's words. Not that he hadn't had anything against the baby girl, but, the timing itself wasn't one of the best of ideas. The Dark Lord, along with his followers were still on the horizon in search of him, Lily, and their Harry whom Voldemort had wanted to kill. He didn't want the same misfortune to befall the girl of losing a family. . . or much worse. . .

"Um. . . Lily, I don't think it's the best—" James tried to rationalize with her, but Lily had cut him off.

"Oh, that's rubbish James." Lily responded absentmindedly. "For some reason, I think it's fate that we crossed paths with her."

Not a single soul had lingered around the area—it was all deserted from people. If they hadn't stumbled across the infant. . .

Lily clutched the baby closely to her chest and whispered. "You're safe with me little girl. I promise I won't let anything bad happen to you."

James had wrapped his arm around his wife's waist, bringing her closer to him. His hazel eyes had fallen on the sleeping infant—his heart breaking for the little girl. James wasn't entirely sure if he was convinced by the idea of taking the girl in. It was just he had no idea what the future held for him, for Lily, and Harry.

James could see the determination spark in Lily's face of wanting to protect the abandon baby girl like never before. . . well, he did see it quite a few times, when it comes to their son, Harry. Lily was like a true mama bear. James had decided to go along with and to see what would unfold before their eyes. The couple had walked down the streets—back to their small cottage.

James twisted the knob of the door open of the cottage. He and Lily had slipped inside. The man helped his wife to take off her coat and placed it aside on the rack alongside his own.

Out of the corner of his eyes, Remus had hushed James trying to keep him silent and James' attention had fallen on Sirius who was laying on the sofa, although, he had Harry on top of his chest who was undisturbed—fast asleep.

"Thank you for watching Harry for us." James whispered. "It means a lot to me and Lily."

Remus had flashed James a smile. "It's no problem, James. We enjoyed looking after Harry. The little bloke had lots of energy tonight."

James chuckled. "I can see. I'm surprised to see Harry's already asleep. He's always so fussy when it comes time to bedtime."

"James, can you hold her a few minutes by the time I put Harry in his crib? After that I'm going to clean her up." Lily said, placing the infant girl in the arms of her husband.

"Her?" Remus blinked his eyes, confused. The man noticed that Lily was holding a bundle that had a tiny baby tucked away in the blanket. "Um . . . can I ask. . . why there's another baby in your arms, Lily?"

"James will explain everything by the time I come back for the girl and clean her up." Lily said, hurt laced in her voice. Sadness reflecting in her jade-green eyes before taking Harry into her arms and disappearing upstairs.

Remus glanced down at the girl, wincing, upon the sight of faint traces of blood on her skin. "She looks like she's barely been born."

"Yeah, that's what Lily said. I'm no expert on that since I didn't get to see Harry until he was all cleaned up—"

Remus smirked, chuckling. "That's because you fainted when Lily was giving birth to Harry. The healers had to drag you out and you were passed out for hours."

James was red in the face—mortified. It was a moment, he'd wanted to forget (or to pretend that it had never happened, but his friends had managed to bring it up every time). "Yeah."

"Well, well, well, how was your date night, Prongs?" Sirius and approached both James and Remus, a smile expanded on his face and his grey eyes as bright as the starry night. "I sure hope you had a romantic evening while I had to deal with your energetic son."

James lifted a thick black eyebrow—pretending to act offended. "Excuse me? Harry's your godson."

"I know, but I got to say, he's quite handful." Sirius had let out a laugh. "But he's just an adorable boy so I can hold anything against Prongslet."

"Good to know." James deadpanned.

"Blimey? Who do we have here, Prongs?" Sirius said curiously.

"It's a baby girl." Remus said bluntly.

Sirius rolled his eyes "No bloody shi—"

"Language, Padfoot." Remus reminded. "The baby."

Sirius had ignored Remus's remark. "I doubt the baby would know what that word means. So, what's the story James?"

The three wizards had took a seat on the sofa, with James being the one to rock the baby back and forth. James had his soft hazel eyes on her before turning back to his friends. It was heartbreaking to say, and so James had opened his mouth and begun to share the story with his friends.

Sirius was utterly crossed with hearing such a tale.

Remus was quite the opposite of Sirius, in fact, sadness had flittered across his face. He, unlike Sirius, had no idea that Muggle parents could be disgusting and terrible people—hearing much of the stories from his mother, Hope Lupin, that some people would abandon their own child to the streets or at an orphanage.

All wizarding families, even purebloods unless in extreme circumstances would abandon their child, if he or she hadn't displayed an ounce of magic, which was utterly cruel in itself. The Wizarding world had adored children as they were beloved to parents unlike the Muggle world.

"Bloody hell!" Sirius had lost all of his temper—seething. "What kind of—I know that my parents are an absolute menace and cruel, but this makes them a saint in comparison to them monsters—"

"Sirius we can't just point fingers—" Remus tired, but Sirius had cut him off from fishing his words.

"Like hell I am, Remus. This is madness!" Sirius emphasized. "What kind of parents would do this to their baby girl?"

"We don't know anything about the parents' situation. What if someone kidnapped their baby girl, Sirius?" Remus tried to rationalize.

Sirius snorted doubting that this was the actual reason, but James had seemed to be listening to Remus's explanations on the various of scenarios that he was listing off. Guilt had flooded his chest. James for one hadn't considered the possibilities.

"Or someone had decided to follow the mother and decided to rip the child out of the mother's womb because they couldn't have a child of their own. . . that happens a lot more often in the Muggle world."

Sirius felt the heat rush to his face—flustering. "I didn't really think about that. I mean this is not the kind of thing that happens in the Wizarding world."

"I didn't realize that this was a common problem in the Muggle world." James acknowledged sadly.

"I'm just saying it's better than getting the wrong idea about them. We can't really paint the parents as being wicked or evil because we don't know anything or have the facts." Remus had simply advised.

"You're probably right Remus," Lily spoke up from behind them, appearing rather ashamed for jumping to conclusions just like Sirius. The woman had changed out of her date outfit, into a full-sleeved pajamas with a robe on. "It just didn't occur to me of the possibilities. . . I guess I was just upset and angry at the sight of the baby being left alone like that."

"Your reaction was perfectly normal Lily and so would anyone if they witnessed what you'd seen. And you're a Mum to Harry so it makes sense why you'd be angry . . ." Remus said.

Lily gave a nod before turning her attention to James. "I'd like to bathe the girl and give her warm clothing."

James gently handed the infant to Lily.

"Can we watch?" Sirius piped up.

"Why?" A strange look had rose on Lily's face—baffled.

"Because I'm really curious, and plus we can help you if you need anything . . ." Sirius had offered.

The woman had appeared to be utterly skeptic of Sirius's words and apparently James and Remus seemed to be joining in on Sirius's idea.

"Very well, if you boys want to help, why don't you bring me one of Harry's onesies and transfigure that into a newborn girl's size, diaper, powder, and a new pink blanket. And James, you'll help me with bathing her." Lily instructed.

With that being said, all of the adults headed upstairs. Remus and Sirius had gone to the nursery room where Harry had slept in his crib peacefully. Meanwhile James had filled the bath seat that rested on the sink with warm water, and Lily had settled the infant in who was now awake and squirming.

Lily gently washed at the baby's skin with baby shampoo, getting all the creamy substance and blood off of her pale, pink skin. The infant had let out uncomfortable soft cries, which made her wince.

"Shhhh. . . it's okay baby girl. I'm just washing you squeaky, clean and after that I'll have you dressed in a warm onesie. What do you say?"

The baby girl had its eyes open, seeing the images of James and Lily at her side, she had quieted down, cooing. Once Lily was done washing the girl off—she had placed her in the arms of James who had the towel and wrapped the infant in before heading off to the nursery room.

From there Lily had managed to put the diaper, powder, and finally dressing the infant in a pink onesies that had floral prints. She had adjusted the tiny mittens on the baby's hands and the matching hat, tucking in her small red curls. She had wrapped the baby in the pink silk blanket.

"She's marvelous, isn't she!" Lily's eyes gleamed with pure joy and gently caressed her face. "You're warm and protected little girl."

James had to admit the little infant girl was starting to grow on him and she looked utterly peaceful in the arms of his wife. It had made him smile.

"What? You're actually keeping this baby?" Sirius said dumbfoundedly.

"Yes. I'm the one who found her, and I certainly don't want her in someone else's hands. I mean . . . it's horrible to grow up in a world with no family or being mistreat by someone else."

Lily's gaze had met her husband's face who fixated his hazel eyes on his wife and the baby girl. He had wrapped his arm around Lily's waist and placed his other hand under the baby's head. Love had filled his features.

"I guess we are keeping her." James came to a final decision regarding the infant.

James was certain that whatever life had threw at them, they would be able to handle it when the time would come. To be fair, he did agree with Lily about them being the ones to find her and just giving her to someone else had sent shivers down his spine.

"Well, I have to say, what are you going to name her?" Remus said curiously.

Lily took a minute before saying what was on her mind. If she'd ever had a daughter, there was this particular name in mind. A wide smile graced her lips. She knew it was just perfect for the baby. "I was thinking of a name, Bloom."

"Bloom?" Sirius had fell into hysterical laughter. "I mean, come on, be serious Lily. I never heard of a girl being named 'Bloom'. Poor thing, I know she'll be bullied for it. . ."

Lily's cheeks had burned—somewhat feeling as if she were being insulted by Sirius. Her jade-green eyes had narrowed. "I don't think you're the one to talk, Snuffles."

This had easily caught Sirius off guard, though Lily was giggling under her breath, upon seeing how the man stiffen in his place, not liking how that name was brought up. He glared at James. "You told her my secret name didn't you!"

"Nope." James replied with a smirk on. "Lily figured it out all on her own."

Sirius whined like a child, exasperating dramatically. "Why did you have to marry a brilliant witch who could figure things out Prongs?"

"Ignore Padfoot, Lily. He's just being a prat and I think it's a lovely name." Remus encouraged delightfully.

"Bloom. . .is just perfect."

"Welcome to our family, little Bloom." James said warmly.

The baby opened its eyes upon hearing the voices, and had started to fuss, letting out soft whimpers of cries. Lily knew that the girl was most likely hungry. "Looks like someone needs a good bottle of milk. . ."

"I would think that Harry had finished all the milk that was left in the refrigerator." Sirius frowned and glanced at his wrist-watch. "It's pretty late and I'm sure that most of the supermarket is closed by now."

Lily glanced at the girl who started to cry, her lips trying to —due to being hungry—rocked her back and forth. "There's only one thing to do in a situation like this."

"Lily you can't possibly be thinking. . ." James glanced at his wife. He wasn't entirely sure if he had agreed with her idea.

Remus furrowed his brows. "Are you sure that's a good idea? I mean, what if the girl was already breastfed?"

"From the way we found her, I doubt she was fed." Lily frowned. "I mean, there's no harm in trying. I don't want her to be starving all night until tomorrow morning."

"Right." James still looked unconvinced of the idea, but he didn't want the baby to suffer from hunger all night long—even Harry was still being breastfed during hours of the night. "Let's give Lily some privacy."

He had personally escorted Remus and Sirius out of the nursery room, though James stayed behind, as he was curious over the baby girl. He approached his wife, who was sitting in the rocker chair, and the baby girl had easily latched onto Lily's breast—suckling as if her life had depended on it. He spotted the glistening tears roll down Lily's face. It had broken James's heart knowing that the child wasn't even breastfed—that she'd been most likely starving for hours until he and Lily had found her.

"James, she wasn't even fed. . . who knows how long she'd been out there for and how hungry she'd been. Bloom's lucky to be alive. Her magic kept her safe and alive," Lily said sadly.

The Potters had continued to watch Bloom suckle until she had enough milk. Lily had gently wiped off the milk that was around the corners of the girl's lips.

"Bloom's mine and no one is going to tear her away from me," Lily whispered, clutching the baby closer to her, as baby Bloom had slowly fallen asleep again. "She deserves a loving family."

"No one is going to tear her apart from this family, I promise you," James had reassured his wife, softly pressing his lips against Lily's forehead.

"Harry will sleep with us since he's a bit older and Bloom will sleep in the crib. She's a tiny baby and more delicate. . ." Lily said, glancing at her husband. "I just noticed that you haven't changed yet."

"Oh." James flushed. "I'll get to that."

With that being said, James had left Lily alone in the nursery, swapping out his date night clothing into comfortable pajamas. Lily had left the room with baby Bloom in her arms.

"Did you manage to feed her?" Sirius was burning with curiosity.

Lily gave a nod. "Bloom had quite the appetite."

"Oh, so she wasn't breastfed." Remus said frowning.

Sirius and Remus had a sorrowful expression flittered across their faces—knowing that the baby girl had been unfed.

Lily was all teary-eyed again—shaking her head. The woman had flinched upon a heavy hand placed on her shoulder—giving her a tight squeeze. James had glanced at her, his hazel eyes shining with much love and warmth.

"And now Bloom doesn't have to worry about going hungry or ever being alone again," James said, trying to lighten up his wife's sadness. It had worked. A small smile formed on her lips.

Remus smiled. "Well. . . then since you and James are going to take full custody of little Bloom, then you should get all adoption papers settled in and start the process."

Lily bit her lips as worry filled her features. "Adoption?"

"Yeah, I mean, how else would you keep the girl?" Sirius said bluntly.

"It's just that I really don't want anyone to poke their heads into this private matter. . ."

"I know Lily. She and Harry are only a few months apart, and people would get all suspicious about it. . ." Sirius pointed out.

"I'm just worried that people would hurt her." Lily expressed.

"It's not going to be a lot of people, Lils. We'll just spill the tea to good old Dumbledore, Peter, and maybe Marlene." Sirius flashed a wide smile.

"I suppose if you put it that way," Lily had a polite smile on.

"And even if Bloom knew later on that she's adopted she's still going to love you and James, Harry, and us. You'll see." Remus said with hope in his voice. Those encouraging words had lifted Lily's mood for the better.

"Yeah, I want to see the kind of girl she'll—"

"—she'll bloom into—" Sirius had fallen into fits of laughter, struggling to keep it within but he simply couldn't, which earned him a glare from Lily.

"You're such a prat, Padfoot." James said flatly.

Remus rolled his eyes, unamused. "You're practically a child but in an adult body."

"You know if you don't stop with those insults, I'll have your wand shove up your—"

Sirius lifted an eyebrow shocked by Lily's words—acting rather dramatically hurt. "Oi James! You're allowing your wife to threaten me with a baby in a room."

"I don't mind Sirius. . ." James had a wicked smile on—supporting his wife. "You deserve it after all."

"Blimey Prongs! I didn't realize that you sided—"

"Give it a rest Padfoot." Remus sighed, glancing at his wrist-watch. "We should leave them alone and it's getting late. We'll stop by tomorrow with the paperwork. What do you say?"

"Sounds perfect." Lily smiled.

"I apologize in advance, but I'll be apparating with Sirius since he's too stubborn to leave. I don't want to be rude. Come on Padfoot." Remus yanked Sirius by the arm, despite protesting about wanting to stay and with that the two wizards had vanished from the couple's sight with strong gust of winds.

Lily let out a heavy sigh—relieved that Sirius had finally left her alone. That man could be such a handful at times—worse than a child. She couldn't comprehend how James or Remus had managed to handle Sirius for all these years especially during their Hogwarts years.

The woman had wanted to keep Bloom and raise her as her own little girl. Lily had wanted to make it up to the girl who was abandoned by her family—giving her the warmth and love she deserved to have. A good loving family. Lily alongside her husband James couldn't wait until the girl officially becomes theirs.

With Lord Voldemort looming on the horizon, in search of his family particularly their little Harry to put an end to, James would do everything in his power to ensure his family's safety and to keep them alive no matter the costs.

Author's Note

Hello Everyone! I must say you weren't expecting an update so soon. To be fair, I was working on this chapter one for a while before publishing the author's note about revamping the series. I tweaked a lot of things from the original premise.

If I'm being honest, I still don't why I revealed everything in the very first chapter with the letter or why Dumbledore was there in the first place (still don't know why he had to come besides him giving an update about the Wizarding World in general. I guess because I thought it was so cool LOL).

The way I'd written James and Lily in the early parts of the story had me cringe. . . shakes head . . .to me they sound idiotic or something. I have better grasp at writing their characters (after reading so many well-written Marauder Era fanfics, which I happen to adore).

Ah, someone gave me pretty good advice about showing bits Harry and Bloom's childhood years and not only that, but this time I'm going to sprinkle in, the differences between Harry's wizard magic and Bloom's fairy magic hence why I decided to rename the fic "Secrets of the Magical Child" because this time no one knows that she is a fairy.

Remember my OCs - Vivivine Leatherbone and Ikaros Kadamos - these characters are no longer relevant in this fanfic (and they sound so cringey) and if you were aware of my "Disoriented Memories series", I'll be involving the duo Willowshine siblings: Aria and Issac, fret not if you don't know their backgrounds.

Ah, yes this is relatively important for this fanfic regarding Bloom's maternal blood family: Alec, Lassandra, Adrian, and Aiden (they'll still have the same backgrounds as written in "Disoriented Memories" maybe with slight differences).

Regulus is alive just like in the original series of mine, but this time has a family. I guess I really do sympathize with Regulus - the unsung hero - cries over how Regulus and Sirius were divided apart because of their parents Orion and Walburga (I despise them along with Bellatrix and other members of the family who are wicked).

Hahaha I do have a spot for Narcissa who's a snobby, rude rich witch lol. I'm not a fan of Lucius' character in the books but come one - the actor Jason Issacs made me feel sorry for him XD I dislike Draco hate him in the books, but Tom Felton pulled the same card on me and made me feel bad for Draco XD

But it doesn't mean I'm going to change their characters or anything of the likes, and they'll still be racist and just downright rude and annoying.

As for "Bright Lights, Black City" that will be soon updated sometime by next weekend! :D

What else to say?

I guess that's everything for now!

I hope you enjoyed this updated version of the chapter! Like always please leave your reviews and comments down below! I really do appreciate it and love to hear your thoughts about it!

Until Next Time!
