Epilogue
The Mission
WILL SWINSON's father was arrested by Japanese police and is awaiting extradition to the UK on charges of industrial espionage. Due to the complexities involved it is not expected to take place until early 2016. Will himself has returned to the UK and is living with his aunt in Cheshunt.
CHARLIE SUMMERS remains in Japan and is hoping to achieve an athletic scholarship to a US university in due course.
NATALIE BAKER and her mother returned to the UK after her suicide attempt and now live with family in London. She has not settled well into her new school and is attending twice-weekly psychological therapy to help with her problems.
The Cherubs
MICHAEL JAARSVELD is attending basic training for the Special Reconnaissance Regiment, a secretive and highly selective branch of the British special forces. He is said to be excelling and looking forward to passing out and becoming eligible for active duty.
Chairwoman ZARA ASKER acknowledged that her husband, senior mission controller EWART ASKER had overstepped the mark dealing with the situation around Michael's return to campus. As a gesture of goodwill, no staff involved received any punishment or negative mark on their records.
JAMES ADAMS continues as a junior mission controller on campus and is looking forward to moving in with his girlfriend KERRY CHANG shortly.
JULES RICHARDSON was promoted to senior mission controller following the retirement of long-time favourite DENIS KING.
DAVE EDMONDS was offered a seat on the CHERUB ethics committee following the retirement of another member and has accepted. His colleague, WILLIAM SHEPHERD, has decided to stay on at FANG for another few years due to difficulties in finding a suitable replacement.
LUCY KURIAN was asked not to continue her course at university due to lack of attendance and was banned from campus for four months for misuse of CHERUB resources. She has since left the UK to go trekking in Nepal.
DOUGIE MCRAE recovered from heavy drill and has departed on a recruitment mission.
BEATRICE STONE remains suspended from missions and has been spending her time assisting the CHERUB training instructors.
JEMIMA SUZUKI has been enjoying her privileges as a black shirt and is looking forward to the next training exercise where she can boss her friends around.
BIANCA WRIGHT recently departed for a mission in London. She and George email every day.
GEORGE KNIGHT is still waiting for his black shirt but has been enjoying having more time on campus. He has caught up with his schoolwork at long last in time for his exams, and, true to his word, has made the toilets in the old gym building sparkle.
