Chapter 1: Sweet News
It was a calm, peaceful Saturday afternoon at the Peanuts Gang's school and everyone was having fun. Sally and Lila were playing dress-up, Linus and Pigpen were reading comics, Peppermint Patty was sleeping under the shade of a tree and Charlie Brown, Heather, Patty Swanson, Ashley, Chip and Hannah were playing jump rope.
"My turn!" Hannah declared.
"When you're ready." Ashley said.
"Give us the signal!" added Chip.
"YOU CAN DO IT! DON'T GIVE UP!" Charlie Brown reassured.
"Ready." Hannah declared.
"Then here we go!" Heather said.
Ashley:
A, my name is Alice and my husband's name is Al
We come from Alabama and we sell apples
"Good job!" Charlie Brown praised.
"What're you doing?" Sally asked.
"Jump rope." Chip replied.
"Want a turn?" Heather asked.
"Fire will have to freeze over before I do jump rope!" Sally retorted.
"Never hurt to ask." Heather said.
"Anyways, your turn now, Hannah." Chip said as she and Ashely traded places.
"Ready to jump?" asked Hannah.
"Oh you KNOW it!" Ashley replied.
"YOU CAN DO IT! JUST JUMP!" Charlie Brown encouraged.
"Jump, for my love, jump in and feel my touch!" Heather sang to herself before stopping. "Sorry..."
"It's fine." Ashley shrugged.
"Okay, let's do this!" Patty Swanson smiled.
Hannah:
B, my name is Barbra and my husband's name is Bill
We come from Boston, and we sell beets.
Just then, Robert approached his friends. "Hi everybody. What's up?" Robert smiled.
"We're jumping rope!" Heather smiled.
"And making rhymes." Ashley smiled.
"That sounds great! It's better than great! It's terrific!" Robert smiled.
"Robert, you sure sound happy." Chip chuckled.
"I am! I'm really, really happy!" Robert smiled. Then the Barney doll came to amazing life!
"Whoa! I hear a lot of happy people!" Barney exclaimed happily.
"HEY!" Snoopy exclaimed.
"Oh hi, everybody!" Barney waved.
"We sure are happy!" Heather smiled as Sally, Lila, Pigpen and Linus ran up towards them.
"And seeing all my friends happy makes me happy too!" Barney replied.
Barney:

"Robbie, you must have some really excited news, for you to be this happy!" Lila said.
"Si, I do." Robert said.
"What is it, Robert?" asked Ashley.
"Today is my mom's birthday and we're going out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate." Robert said.
"Oh boy! That IS good news!" Barney said.
"It's gonna be my first time going to a fancy restaurant." Robert added.
"EVEN BETTER NEWS!" Patty Swanson gasped.
"I went to a fancy restaurant, once." Hannah reflected.
"What was it like?" asked Robert.
"It had pretty tablecloths and two different forks by your plate! And on the menu, there were lots of foods to choose from!"
"I can't wait to see it, myself!"
Just then, Snoopy's stomach growled.
"No, I don't think perros are allowed, Snoopy." Robert explained.
"Awww..." Snoopy sighed.
"It certainly sounds like it's gonna be a BIG NIGHT, Robert!" Barney added.
"I agree!" Pigpen said.
"THE BIGGEST!" Lila agreed.
"What's the fuss?" yawned Peppermint Patty. "Can't a girl get her beauty sleep 'round here?"
"Sorry, Patty." Chip replied.
"Meh, it's fine, Chip Flip, so what's the scoop?"
"Robert's going to a fancy restaurant for his mom's birthday!" Sally said.
"I'm sure Robert will wanna use his best manners." Barney said.
"Barney, I've never been to a fancy restaurant before. I think I could use some practice." Robert said.
"Well then, why don't we start with what we already know? Using those two magic words." Barney smiled.
