"Snacks?"
"Check!"
"Drinks?"
"Check!"
"Travel bags?"
Amity counted, "Check, check, check, check, check, check, and check!"
"Awesome! With your List finished, I now pronounce this road trip Began!" Luz shouted, pumping her fist and climbing into the RV… leaving her friends outside looking confused.
"Why are we going in the… LV… again?" Gus asked, tilting his head.
"It's RV, Gus, and cuz we need more space for our super awesome road trip!" Luz answered.
Amity was the first to follow her girlfriend, before the others tentatively followed.
"It's like a moving house," Gus whispered upon seeing the inside, "This is totally awesome!"
"And why is she here?" Willow asked, pointing to the drivers seat, before reddening, "Sorry, that didn't come out right."
The driver turned, "It's my family's RV, and Vee here said ya needed a ride. And as a good Enbyfriend, I decided to volunteer." Masha answered, "Gives me more time with my G-F."
Vee blushed in response before taking the front passenger seat.
"Make yourself comfortable! This is gonna be a long ride!" Masha called out before starting the engine.
Luz leaned against her own girlfriend, her mood souring slightly as the familiar knot in her stomach tensed once again as she recalled yesterday's discussion with her mom and Eda.
The scene at the table was tense. Eda and Camilla sitting across from Luz and Amity, one side nervous, the other concerned.
"You know, kid, dreams are serious stuff. If some weird triangle guy was telling you to go somewhere-" Eda explained.
"Some place we've never heard of," Camilla chimed in.
"I was getting to that. The point is, are you sure you can trust… whoever that was?" Eda finished, staring at Luz.
"I know it's a little weird… ok it's really weird but… he didn't sound like he was lying. It didn't sound like he was trying to manipulate me like Belos… it felt more like the Collector. He was trapped by someone who didn't fully understand him." Luz explained, "Besides, if he does turn out to be no good, I'll have Amity with me. Gus, Willow, and Hunter too. And you're on speed dial."
After some thought, Camilla was the first to answer, "I… I don't really understand it all yet, but you are 18… and it's not like you've never been away from home before… If it's okay with the others' families, and you can find your own transportation, it's ok with me."
"And you better have me on that speed drill too, Kid. Especially if you have any more dreams like that." Eda said before taking a sip of Apple Blood.
"Thank you thank you thank you- wait… our own transportation?" Luz said, her mother's full words just now sinking in.
"What, did you think you all could fit in my car? And that I'd go without a car for three or four weeks?" She said, taking a sip of her own glass while raising an eyebrow.
"Oh… uh… I didnt… think of that…" Luz said, sheepishly scratching her head.
Eda shrugged, "Well that's not my department. You kids just… stay safe, ok?"
Luz couldn't stop the inner questions rapid firing in her mind.
'Is this a good idea?'
'What if this guy's using you?'
'What if you get your friends in danger?'
Remembering her mother's advice on how to deal with said questions, she addressed each as it came up.
'It's a vacation first, so yes. It's a good idea.'
'If he's using you… just do some research when you get there. He said "They" trapped him maliciously… so just do research on who "they" are before you do anything.'
'And my friends are the strongest people I know, and if things get scary, I have more friends that can help.'
Her own responses soothed her, but the questions didn't stop completely.
Seeking to distract herself, she looked around the RV.
At the table, Hunter and Gus were playing Hexes Hold'em, while Willow had somehow fallen asleep, leaning against Hunter. (Hunter seemed to have problems holding her up at times, that girl had some serious muscle)
At the front, Vee was teaching Masha how to speak Spanish. That basilisk girl was a fast learner… sometimes her spanish was better than even Luz's. (She even heard her practicing French at night, on more than one occasion)
Next to her, Amity was silently watching the world go by out the window. It was starting to get dark, and the sun's rays passing through the clouds danced across her face. It made Amity look that much cuter. (Luz's mouth may have dropped. And her face may have been burning hotter than the surface of said sun.)
"Hey Luz?" Amity spoke, startling her ogling girlfriend.
"Uh, yea?" She said, still a bit mesmerized.
"Thanks for asking me along. I… I've always wanted to see more of the Human Realm."
"Oh, psh, of course! It's the least I could do for putting up with me in the Demon Realm."
Amity blushed, but smirked, "Oh, Batata, I'd put up with you in any realm."
If Luz thought her face felt hot before, she now felt like she'd taken a face plant into the Boiling Sea.
"Good, I was getting cold." Amity said before nuzzling in, "You get hot when you're flustered."
A beat passed, "I mean… your body… I mean…" Amity fumbled, her face now equally red.
"Shhh…" Luz whispered, now smirking herself, "So do you."

The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful. Thanks to Vee and Masha's driving/sleeping schedule, they made the trip in four days.
As they pulled off the final exit towards their destination, the group felt both relieved and nervous.
"I don't really know what all's going on in the Witch side of things, but come on. It's a vacation too. Let loose a little!" Masha chirped, sensing the room's mood.
This did seem to snap them out of it, and they began to talk about what they might find in this weird, seemingly backwater little town.
"It looks kinda like Bonesborogh but without the Bones…" Willow said, looking at a flyer they'd picked up at their last pit stop, "They apparently have something called the Mystery Shack. That looks interesting."
Amity rolled her eyes, "I'm just looking forward to sleeping in a bed that doesn't shake when we go faster than the speed lemon."
Luz, who had until then been dozing, snorted, "Limit… Speed Limit… Zzzzz"
"...Sorry" Came the only answer from the front.
"Take this left here!" Masha said, looking at a map in the passenger seat.
Vee took a hard left, jostling the group in the back.
"That's true… Solid ground sounds-erp-sounds great." Gus said, covering his mouth.
"I told you not to eat the seventh burger…" Hunter ribbed, smirking.
"I told you-erp-not to mention food!" Gus retorted.
"Guys, we're here!" Vee shouted over the ensuing argument, then pointed out the windscreen. "Welcome to Gravity Falls, home of the Mystery Shack!"
