Chapter 4: Compliments to the Chef

Up in the 'restaurant', BJ, Baby Bop, and the rest of the group brought by their lunch. "Dinner is served!" BJ smiled.

"Yay!" Snoopy cheered as their food was served.

"This looks really good!" Robert smiled.

"I agree!" Lucy smiled.

"It sure does." Ashley said.

"And there're lots of different healthy foods to eat, too! Just like at a real restaurant!" Chip added.

"Nice, Chip Flip!" Peppermint Patty smiled.

"Everyone did a wonderful job." Barney praised as Hannah, Lila, Linus, Pigpen, Chip, BJ and Baby Bop smiled happily.

"The table looks wonderful and the meal looks SUPER DEE DUPER!" Barney added on.

"Oh I can't wait to eat!" Robert smiled as Snoopy danced around a little.

Snoopy's Thoughts:

Doo doo doo doo doo doo.

Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo.

It's suppertime. Yeah, it's suppertime.

Oh, it's sup-sup suppertime very best time of day.

It's suppertime. Yeah, it's sup-per time.

And when suppertime comes can supper be far away?

Bring on the soup dish, bring on the cup,

Bring on the bacon and fill me up.

'Cause it's supper, supper, supper, suppertime.

Snoopy hummed and tapped his spoon on his cup happily as his tail wagged.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrring on the dog food, bring on the bone,

Bring on the barrel and roll me home,

'Cause it's supper, supper, supper, supper supper,

Super super-pepper-upper, supper, super duper suppertime!

Snoopy then got up from his seat and ran for the balcony, plate in hand.

Wintertime's nice with the ice and snow.

Summertime's nice with a place to go.

Bedtime, overtime, half-time, too,

But they just can't hold a candle to my suppertime!

Ohhh yeahhh! Ha haaa! Whoooo! Ha! Ha! Yeah! Yeah!

"Snoopy, get your wagging tail back here!" Charlie Brown groaned.

Brrrrrrrrring on the hamburg, bring on the bun

Pappy's little puppy loves everyone,

'Cause it's supper

Supper supper supper

Supper

Super pepper upper

Supper

Super duper dupper

A-dubba-dubba-dubba-dubba-dubba-dubba-dubba-dubba!

Woohoo!

Yeehea!

Woo-hoo-hoo!

Charlie Brown sighed and ran after his dog around the treehouse. "Now, wait a minute, Snoopy! Hey, get down! You're gonna spill it all over! Now cut that out!" Snoopy paused. "Why can't you eat your meal quietly and calmly at the table, with the rest of us?"

"What's wrong with making mealtime a joyous occasion?" thought Snoopy.

"It's bad manners to get out of your seat without asking to do so, first!" Charlie Brown said and Snoopy walked back to his seat.

"That's better." Charlie Brown said as Snoopy smiled widely.

Supper,

Supper, supper,

Suppertime!

"Was that all?" Barney wondered and Snoopy nodded.

"Thank goodness..." Charlie Brown said.

After eating the kids and animals sighed happily. "That was so good. I couldn't eat another bite." Chip smiled.

"Me neither." Heather giggled.

"Look! I didn't spill any food on me!" Robert joked.

"Me neither! My dress is still as beautiful as ever!" Lucy smiled boastfully.

"Very good, you two." Barney smiled.

"Go figure, it's play food." Peppermint Patty reminded.

"Maybe tonight, at the fancy restaurant, they'll bring your mom a special birthday dessert and sing 'Happy Birthday' to her." Hannah commented.

Barney smirked. "Did someone say dessert?" he asked, using his magic to make a lot of ice cream sundaes appear. "Just a little something I whipped up!"

"I think it's terrific!" Robert said.

"ME TOO!" Baby Bop, Lila and Sally cheered.

"YUM!" Peppermint Patty smiled.

"Ah nuts..." Barney realized.

"Beg pardon?" Violet asked.

"Yeah. What's the matter, Barney?" wondered Ashley.

"Nuts. I forgot them, in case you wanna put them on top." Barney said.

"I'm good without." Heather reassured.

"Did you say nuts?" Scooter asked.

"Barney did." Lucy said.

"I've got some, right here!" and Scooter presented a basket of nuts.

"Scooter McNutty, you're a life saver!" Pigpen said.

"But those still have the shells on them. We can eat them like that." Violet pointed out.

"Oh. One sec." Scooter chuckled sheepishly before disappearing into his hole, then coming back up with the nuts without the shells.

"Thanks Scooter!" Sally smiled.

"Yes, thank you, Scooter. Now the dessert is perfect!" Barney smiled.

"Oh it was nuthing!" Scooter joked. "Get it? Nut-thing!"

"Care to have some of my ice cream, Mr. Brown?" Heather asked sweetly.

"Certainly. And you can have some of mine, Mrs. Brown." Charlie Brown replied.

"Ick! I just lost my appetite!" Sally joked, making her brother and Heather giggle.

"Mmmm...so good!" Peppermint Patty commented before looking over "Careful, Marce."

"Hmm?" Marcie asked, with a mouth full of ice cream.

"Careful not to get sugar rush."

Lila looked over at Snoopy devouring his bowl by the minute "Snoopy, calm down! You'll give yourself brain freeze." She warned.

Snoopy laughed and kept eating.

"Don't say I didn't warn you." Lila said.

Snoopy did in fact get brain freeze. "AUGH!" Snoopy cried out while Lila giggled.

After awhile, everyone was finished. "That was delicious!" Peppermint Patty smiled, licking some of the ice cream off her lips.

"The best." Hannah smiled.

"Well there's just one thing left to do!" Barney smiled.

"What's that, Barney?" Asked Baby Bop.

"CLEAN UP!" The kids happily exclaimed as they did just that.

Barney:

Now it's time to put away

Everything that we took out.

When the room is nice and clean,

It makes us feel so proud.

Barney, Baby Bop, BJ, Barney's Friends, and Peanuts Gang:

We always clean-up, (clap) clean-up (clap, clap)

To show we really care.

We always clean-up, (clap) clean-up (clap, clap)

'Cause we like to do our share.

Robert:

After we have had our lunch

And mealtime's coming to an end

Patty Swanson:

We sure know it helps a bunch

When we all pitch in

Barney, Baby Bop, BJ, Barney's Friends, and Peanuts Gang:

We always clean-up, (clap) clean-up (clap, clap)

To show we really care.

We always clean-up, (clap) clean-up (clap, clap)

'Cause we like to do our share.

We always clean-up, (clap) clean-up (clap, clap)

To show we really care.

We always clean-up, (clap) clean-up (clap, clap)

'Cause we like to do our share.

"Okay! Our birthday meal is all cleaned up!" Robert said.

"And in under five minutes." Franklin added.

"It's fun, when we all pitch in together!" BJ commented.

"That's right, BJ. Helping each other is always a good thing." Barney added.

"I helped too..." Baby Bop said.

"Yes you did." Barney acknowledged.

"You did a very good job, today." Sally said.

Lila hugged Baby Bop "We couldn't have asked for a better waitress."

"Thank you..." murmured Baby Bop with a yawn. "But all that helping out made me sleepy...I think I want to take my nap..."

"It is nearing your naptime..." Linus glanced at the clock.

"Just like clockwork." BJ chuckled. "Come on, Sissy. I'll take you home..." and he grabbed her hand. "Goodbye, everybody!"

"Bye..." Baby Bop waved.

"Goodbye!" the kids waved back as the two siblings disappeared in a trace of magic.

"This was fun." Ashley said.

"Birthdays ARE fun to celebrate." Barney chuckled.

"What's there not to love?" asked Peppermint Patty, holding a wobbly Marcie's hand. "Especially when there's a special dessert involved!"

"And don't forget the presents." Hannah added.

"Yeah, birthday presents are my favorite part." Ashley said.

"Mine too!" Chip agreed.

"Birthday presents? Oh no..." Robert groaned.

"What's the matter, Robert?" Barney asked, confused.

"I was so excited about going out to a fancy restaurant, I forgot to get my mom a present..." Robert explained.

"I think I have an idea. Excuse us, Robert..." Ashley said as she and the others huddled up.

"That's very generous of you!" Barney smiled.

"If it's okay with you, Robert..." Hannah began.

"We'd like to give you our placemats..." Heather added.

"So you can give them to your mom for her birthday." Lila concluded.

"And there's enough for all your family." Charlie Brown mentioned.

"Is it okay? OF COURSE IT'S OKAY!" Robert explained. "Thank you all so much for helping me make this birthday special, for my mom. She's really gonna love these placemats!"

"What're friends for?" Marcie murmured.

"Gotcha." Peppermint Patty reassured.

"That's what friends are for." Barney smiled.

Barney:

I love you, you love me.

We're a happy family.

With a great big hug

And a kiss from me to you,

Won't you say you love me too?

Barney, Barney's Friends, and Peanuts Gang:

I love you, you love me,

We're best friends,

Like friends should be

With a great big hug,

And a kiss from me to you,

Won't you say you love me too?

"Well I gotta get going so I can get ready for my mom's birthday dinner." Robert smiled.

"I'm sure you'll have a great time tonight, celebrating with your mom and dad!" Barney said.

Hannah smiled. "I can't wait to hear ALL ABOUT IT, tomorrow!"

"Me too!" Ashley said.

"Me threeeeeeeeeeee..." Marcie giggled loopily.

"Okay, into the hammock with ya." Peppermint Patty chuckled.

"Oh, wait!" Chip declared. "Robert, don't forget your mom's present."

"I couldn't forget this. Thanks, guys. And thank you, Barney." Robert replied.

"You're welcome." Barney chuckled.

The kids were about to leave the classroom before being stopped by Snoopy. "What is it?" Robert asked, being in the front of the line.

Snoopy handed Robert a party horn. "Thanks, Snoopy." And he kissed the dog on the forehead.

Blushing, Snoopy let the kids exit the classroom.

"That was a lot of fun!" Lucy said.

"I really loved the dessert." Robert commented.

"Wish your mom happy birthday, from us all!" Franklin suggested.

Snoopy watched on before looking over at Barney, who was back in Doll form, and winked at him. The Barney doll winked back as Snoopy giggled and pulled out another ice cream from behind his back and began feasting on it.

The End
