Chapter 2: The Morning After

A week had passed since that fateful night, and Akame and Tatsumi had not spoken of it since. They had continued their mission, eliminating the corrupt officials one by one. But there was a tension between them, an unspoken desire that hung in the air like a heavy fog.

It was a hot and humid night, and Akame had invited Tatsumi to her bedroom to escape the sweltering heat. They sat on opposite sides of the room, the silence between them deafening.

Finally, Tatsumi broke the silence. "Akame, about last week..."

Akame cut him off with a wave of her hand. "We don't have to talk about it," she said, her voice cold.

Tatsumi shook his head. "No, we do. I can't pretend like it never happened. I care about you, Akame. I want to know where we stand."

Akame sighed, her eyes fixed on the ground. "I don't know," she said. "I've never been in this situation before. I don't know how to feel."

Tatsumi nodded, understanding. "I feel the same way," he said. "But I know one thing. I don't regret what happened between us. It was...amazing."

Akame looked up at him, her eyes softening. "I don't regret it either," she said. "But we have to be careful. We can't let our feelings get in the way of our mission."

Tatsumi nodded, his expression serious. "I understand," he said. "But I can't help how I feel about you, Akame. I care about you more than I've cared about anyone else."

Akame's heart swelled with emotion, but she kept her face stoic. "I care about you too, Tatsumi," she said. "But we have to be practical. We can't let our emotions cloud our judgment."

They sat in silence for a few moments, the tension between them still palpable. Finally, Tatsumi stood up. "I should go," he said. "We have a big day tomorrow."

Akame nodded, her eyes following him as he walked towards the door. "Tatsumi," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Tatsumi turned to face her, his eyes pleading. "Yes, Akame?"

Akame hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. "Stay with me tonight," she said. "Just...hold me."

Tatsumi's face broke into a smile, and he walked back towards her. As he wrapped his arms around her, Akame felt a warmth spread through her body. They lay down on the bed together, their bodies entwined.

As they drifted off to sleep, Akame knew that they were playing with fire. But for that one night, she didn't care. All that mattered was the warmth of Tatsumi's embrace.
