Chapter 3: Betrayal
Akame and Tatsumi slept soundly, their bodies still entwined. But their peaceful slumber was about to be shattered.
As the moon rose high in the sky, the door to Akame's bedroom creaked open. Kurome, Akame's sister and former comrade, slipped into the room, her eyes fixed on Tatsumi.
Without warning, Kurome drew her sword and plunged it into Tatsumi's chest. He gasped for air, his eyes wide with shock and pain. Akame woke up with a start, her hand reaching for her own sword.
But it was too late. Kurome had already fled the room, leaving Tatsumi bleeding and dying on the bed.
Akame's heart raced as she knelt beside Tatsumi, his blood staining her hands. "Tatsumi," she whispered. "Don't leave me."
Tatsumi's eyes fluttered open, his breathing shallow. "Akame," he said, his voice weak. "I...I love you."
Akame's eyes filled with tears as she looked into Tatsumi's dying gaze. "I love you too," she said. "I'll make them pay for this."
Tatsumi's hand reached out to touch Akame's cheek, and then he was gone. Akame let out a cry of anguish, her heart shattered into a thousand pieces.
Without a moment's hesitation, Akame sprang to her feet, her sword at the ready. She knew who had done this. Kurome, her own sister, had betrayed her once again.
She ran out of the room, her eyes blazing with fury. She spotted Kurome in the distance, running towards the exit. Akame gave chase, her sword flashing in the moonlight.
They met in the courtyard, their swords clashing in a deadly dance. Akame seethed with anger as she fought her own flesh and blood, her sister who had become a monster.
Their fight was fierce and brutal, each blow striking with deadly precision. But in the end, Kurome was too fast and too skilled. With a final strike, she managed to knock Akame's sword out of her hand.
Kurome laughed, her eyes cold and cruel. "You're too weak, Akame," she said. "You always have been."
Akame clenched her fists, her eyes fixed on Kurome. "I'll never be weak," she said. "You'll pay for what you've done."
With a cry of rage, Akame lunged at Kurome, her bare hands reaching for her sister's throat. But Kurome was too quick, and she slipped away, disappearing into the night.
Akame fell to her knees, her body shaking with anger and grief. She had failed Tatsumi, and she had failed herself. But she vowed that she would not rest until Kurome paid for her sins.
