I know that the episodes I am basing this fanfic around are based in May-June of 2022, however for purposes of this chapter they will be based from October 2022 onwards.

As in this Fic I am writing about it being Andy's birthday and she is a scorpio it would make sense for me to move the timeline forward a few months to fit it all in

Chapter 6

Andy had officially been back at work for a week now. Today would be her first shift back where she could go out on a call. She was so nervous about going out, however Beckett had assigned her to the Aid Car with Travis.

The shift had been fairly quiet, and Andy and Travis had yet to attend a call. They were sat in the barn, doing an inventory check when the alarm blared for them to go out. Andy hopped into the passenger side of the Aid Car as Travis began to drive. They were attending a hit and run call.

They had arrived at the call within 3 minutes, which was almost record time for the team. Andy had quickly hopped out and grabbed all the equipment she could, while Travis went towards the patient.

"Female, I would say around mid 30s" Travis said, as Andy attached the monitors to the patient.

"I'll radio in and see where PD are at" Andy said, as she pressed the button. "Dispatch, this is Aid Car 19. What is the ETA for PD?" She said, as she looked around to see if she could see anyone.

'Aid 19, PDs ETA is 3 minutes' Dispatch said through the radio.

"Let's get her boarded, and ready for transport when PD get here." Travis said, as Andy went to go and get the backboard for the gurney.

When Andy arrived back with the backboard, the first PD car arrived.

"Unknown Female, early-mid 30s. She has no ID on her." Travis said to the police officer as they approached the scene.

"Okay, right we will make our way around and start questioning the local business owners." The police officer said.

"We will be taking her to Grey-Sloan memorial." Travis told them, as they began boarding their patient into the back of the Aid Car

Unfortunately Andy's first call back at work had not been a happy one, while on their way to Grey Sloan their patient had died. Andy would be lying if she said she wasn't devastated. because she truly was.

Back at the station, she resumed her shift on desk duty. She filed the report for the patient they had lost and began tidying up the barn. The rest of the team were around, and helping do chores before they got called out to a structure fire. When alone around the station, Andy sat at the desk and took all the phone calls that came through. Her mind kept wondering off the the women they had lost that same morning and she couldn't help but feel a little bit emotional.

She held back her tears while dealing with the station on her own, and when her team returned she took herself off to her bunk to let herself cry. Jack had noticed how distant Andy had been since she returned from the call that morning, and followed her to her bunk. Jack held Andy as she cried, and soothed her to help her breathing stay normal. Andy had been having panic attacks quiet frequently since the rape, and was prone to setting herself off into a panic any time she was left alone for too long.

Once Andy had calmed down, Jack held her close to his chest while her breathing returned to normal.

"Andy, I know that was a tough first call back. Do you think it's worth a shot talking to Diane?" He asked.

"No, I have a meeting with her soon anyway. I don't want her or Ross thinking I can't do my job." She responded, as she sat upright on the bed.

"Andy it's okay to have tough days. Your dad taught me that." He said.

"I know. But I've had a lot of tough days recently, and I just want to be able to do my job the same way I used to do it before." Andy stated

"Andy, you have been through a lot over the past month. If you having a bad time, nobody would blame you. Just if you are finding yourself struggling, please talk to someone." He said, before anyone could say anything else there was a knock at the door.

"Hey guys, we're about to eat. You coming?" Vic said, from the other side of the door.

"Yeah, we will be right out" Andy replied, as she stood up and got herself ready to leave the bunk.

Everyone stayed silent over dinner time. Nobody had much to say. Andy observed all of her friends and wondered why they were so quiet.

"Jeez guys, if I'd have known mealtimes would be this quiet here I would've just eaten in my bunk" Andy joked, but no one reacted.

"Radio silence, got it" She added, and finished eating her food. She could never eat in silence. Silence meant being alone in her thoughts again, if she was ever alone she would play music or a podcast to drown the silence out. Her friends had never been so quiet eating before, so it was quiet weird for her that they were right now.

Once Andy had finished eating, she washed her plate and headed straight to the front desk to give herself something to do. Her friends were still in the beanery eating in their awkward silence, so keeping herself busy meant keeping herself out of her thoughts.

She was replacing some pens in the pen pot when the intercom went off. It was Chief Ross, so Andy got up and let her in.

"Hey Herrera" She said as she entered the firehouse.

"Hi Chief, can I help you?" Andy asked, as she sat back in her seat at the desk.

"No thank you Herrera. I'm just here to see Captain Beckett. Where are the others?" The chief questioned.

"They're eating" Andy responded, as the phone rang

"Well I'll leave you be" The chief said, and she entered the captains office.

The rest of the shift, not a member of the team had spoken. Andy was slightly annoyed at the thought her friends were ignoring her, she just kept thinking that she had done something wrong.

By the time the shift ended, Andy was so tired she couldn't wait to get home. She gathered her things, and waited for Jack by his car. He still hadn't said much to her, so Andy put her Air Pods in ready to drown out more silence.

Once she was in the car, Jack seemed normal again but Andy remained confused.

"Why was the rest of the shift so damn quiet?" Andy questioned, and Jack turned to face her

"In what context?" Jack questioned. But Andy remained pissed off

"The whole team didn't speak to each other for the rest of the shift since you guys came back from the structural fire. 12 whole hours where unless needed to nobody said a damn word. Nobody even spoke to me!" Andy practically yelled. Jack looked quiet shocked

"Look listen, don't say I told you but Vic has planned a surprise party for you since its your birthday next week and we all know what Vic is like keeping secrets. So we all agreed not to speak a word to each other unless it was work related, so the secret wouldn't get out." Jack said, he knew if Vic found out about Jack telling Andy she would kill him.

"Oh." Was all Andy could say. She hated surprises. She wasn't a fan of celebrating her birthday either. She was happy her friends were trying to celebrate her, but she wasn't sure if she could when she knew her attacker and rapist was still on the loose.

Next chapter will be Andy's birthday.

Hope you enjoyed :)
