As Boruto, Sasuke, and Sarada walked through the dense forest, the rustling leaves filled the air with life. They searched for a suitable spot to set up camp, the sun slowly sinking below the horizon. Sasuke's injury served as a constant reminder of their recent clash with Code, and they all felt the need to rest and recover.

Eventually, they found a clearing and began setting up camp. Sarada took charge of setting up the tent while Boruto got the fire started. Sasuke sat down with a grimace as Sarada began to tend to his wound. Despite not being as skilled as her mother Sakura, Sarada was able to ease her father's pain with her basic medical ninjutsu.

As they sat around the bonfire, they cooked a simple meal of rice and vegetables. Sasuke's injury limited his ability to help, so Boruto and Sarada took over. As they ate in silence, each lost in their own thoughts, the atmosphere was heavy with the burden of their recent experiences.

After finishing their meal, they cleaned up the campsite and prepared to go to bed. Sarada tried to fall asleep, but couldn't shake the nightmare that seemed to have no end. In her dream, she was remembering the time when Boruto seemingly sacrificed himself to end the war between Kirigakure and the Funato clan by jumping into the ocean.

As she tried to catch her breath, Sarada heard a rustling sound from outside the tent. She froze, listening carefully as the sound grew closer. Suddenly, the tent flap was pulled back, and she saw Boruto's silhouette in the moonlight.

"Are you okay?" he asked, concern etched in his voice. He heard her scream, and he could see clearly her Mangekyo Sharingan activated and tears on her face, and that made him really worried.

Sarada wiped away her tears and nodded. "I had a nightmare", she admitted. "It was about the day you sacrificed yourself to end the war between the Funato Clan and Kirigakure".

Boruto's eyes widened in surprise. "That was a long time ago. Why are you dreaming about it now?", he said softly.

"I don't know", Sarada said, her voice trembling. "It just felt so real".

Boruto sat down beside her, wrapping his arms around her as she leaned into him. "I'm sorry for what I put you and Mitsuki through that day. I really am", he whispered with a defeated voice. "I'm here now. You don't have to be afraid".

Sarada closed her eyes, breathing in the scent of Boruto's hair as she tried to steady herself. She felt a sense of peace wash over her as he held her, and she knew that she was safe with him.

After a few moments, Boruto pulled away and looked at her. "Do you want to talk about it?" he asked gently.

Sarada shook her head. "Not really", she said. "It's just… it was so vivid, you know? I could feel everything. The fear, the pain, the sadness… it was like I was really there".

Boruto's nod conveyed more than mere understanding, it was a deeply empathetic gesture. His eyes spoke of the pain and suffering that he, too, had endured. "I know how you feel", he said, his voice tinged with melancholy. "I still have nightmares sometimes, too".

Sarada's surprise was palpable. It was as if Boruto had peeled back a layer of armour, revealing a raw and vulnerable part of himself. "Really?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Boruto nodded once more, a sad smile playing on his lips. His eyes held a haunted quality as if he was reliving every moment of his nightmares. "Yeah", he said softly. "I guess it's just part of being a ninja. We see and experience things that most people can't even imagine. It's hard to forget those things".

Sarada felt a rush of emotions flooding her being. She was grateful for Boruto's honesty, touched by his empathy, and comforted by his presence.

"Thank you for being here with me", she said softly.

Boruto smiled at her, his hand reaching up to brush a strand of hair out of her face. "Of course", he said. "I'll always be here for you, Sarada".

Boruto had noticed how Sarada's eyes lit up whenever he was around. He had always thought she was beautiful, but he had never really considered the possibility of them being more than just friends. However, as he looked into her eyes, he felt something stir inside of him, and he knew that he wanted to be more than a friend to her.

Sarada felt her heart skip a beat as she looked into his eyes. She knew that she was falling for him, and she didn't know how to stop it. She wanted to tell him how she felt, but she was too scared of what would happen if her feelings weren't reciprocated.

Instead, she leaned into him again, letting him wrap his arms around her once more. As they sat there in silence, Sarada felt a sense of warmth and comfort that she had never felt before. She knew that she could trust Boruto with anything, and that thought alone made her feel safe.

For Boruto, holding Sarada in his arms felt like the most natural thing in the world. He could feel her body against his, and he knew that he never wanted to let her go. He had always been protective of her, but now he realised that his feelings ran much deeper than he had ever imagined.

As the moon shone down on them, they stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, wrapped in each other's embrace.

As they sat there, lost in their thoughts, Sasuke's voice interrupted them. "Is everything okay?" he asked, poking his head into the tent.

Boruto and Sarada quickly pulled away from each other, feeling a bit embarrassed to have been caught in such an intimate moment. "Yeah, everything's fine", Boruto said, with a hint of nervousness in his voice.

Sasuke raised an eyebrow but didn't press the issue. "Good. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow, so get some rest". He had his suspicions, but as long as his daughter didn't object to it, he was okay with it.

Boruto and Sarada both nodded in agreement, their relief palpable that Sasuke hadn't detected anything out of the ordinary. They settled back into their sleeping bags, each lost in their own thoughts.

As they lay there in silence, Sarada couldn't help but feel a strange sense of comfort in being so close to Boruto. She had always appreciated his friendship, but something about this moment felt different. It was as if they were the only two people in the world, and nothing else mattered. And this feeling was making her blissful, so much so that she nearly fell asleep without even noticing it.

Boruto couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over him as he stared up at the stars. He had always enjoyed being out in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the village. But being out here with Sarada made it even better. He glanced over at her and noticed that she had already closed her eyes, her breathing steady and calm.

He couldn't help but admire how beautiful she looked in the soft moonlight. Her features were relaxed, and the gentle curve of her neck was exposed, making his heart skip a beat. He wanted nothing more than to reach out and brush her hair away from her face. He then tried to relax by closing his eyes, and he succeeded in doing so after a while.

Sarada shifted slightly to get more comfortable, and as she did, she felt Boruto's arm brush against hers. It was a small gesture, but it sent shivers down her spine. She tried to shake off the feeling, but it only seemed to intensify.

She opened her eyes and looked at Boruto. His eyes were closed, and his breathing was steady. Sarada felt a pang of longing and wondered if he felt the same way about her. She had always thought of him as just a friend, but being so close to him like this made her heart race.

Boruto opened his eyes and turned to look at Sarada. Their eyes met, and for a moment, it felt as if time had stopped. He felt his heart racing as he looked into her eyes, and he knew that he had to tell her how he felt. But he couldn't bring himself to do so.

"Goodnight, Boruto", Sarada said, breaking the silence and bringing him back to reality. Her voice was barely above a whisper, but it was enough to make his heart skip a beat.

"Goodnight, Sarada", he replied, returning her smile. He watched as she closed her eyes again, and soon her breathing became slow and rhythmic. Boruto lay there for a while longer, unable to shake the feeling that something had shifted between them.

Eventually, exhaustion overtook him, and he felt his eyelids growing heavy. He closed his eyes, feeling the cool night air wash over him. He drifted off to sleep, with the image of Sarada's sleeping face imprinted in his mind. As they both fell asleep, they couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them, and whether their friendship would turn into something more passionate and vivid.
