Weekends are boring haha. While writing these chapters I've been watching the respective movies lol. This contains a bit of dialogue from the first Hunger Games movie. Specifically after the Feast in the cave. It also contains some dialogue from last chapter because different POV's. Thanks for reading!
~~~Katniss' POV~~~
I think about what I just witnessed. Thresh saved me because I allied with Rue. God, these games are messed up. I rushed back to the cave where Peeta was as fast as I could because he needs this medicine. That was the whole point of me going to the feast, he needs the medicine.
I quicken my pace and soon enough I find the cave. Peeta was lying down on the ground. He looked like he was about to wake up, the moment I stepped foot into the cave, his head shot up.
"Peeta! I got it. I got the medicine."
"What happened to you?" He says concerned.
"I'm fine."
"No, you're not. What happened?"
"The girl from two, she threw a knife. but I'm okay."
"You shouldn't have gone. You said you weren't gonna go."
"You got worse."
I unscrew the lid of the medicine and start applying it to Peeta's leg. He groans in pain.
"I'm sorry." I whisper.
"You need some of that too."
"I'm okay."
"That feels better." He breathes a sigh of relief. "Okay,
now you."
"I'm okay."
"No, come on. You need it too. Come on. "
"Alright."
He scoops some of the medicine from the container and spreads it along my wound.
I fell asleep on him and when we woke up, he noticed that my head was almost healed.
"Oh. You're so much better."
We looked down at his leg to see if there were the same results.
"Oh my God, Peeta."
"I hardly feel anything."
"We could go home. We could, we're the only team left."
I look up at him.
"We could go home." He says quietly.
He pulls me into an embrace when a bright light fills the cave. Not even the cameras could see through it. My eyes adjust to the light and see a door sitting in the cave.
"Peeta, there's a door over there."
"A door?"
I grab the bow, and we walk over to the door. I reached for the door knob, its surface was cold to the touch. I twist it and push the door open. It was like a warped portal of some sort.
"Should we go through?" He asks.
"Maybe. It would probably be better than this damned arena."
He gave a brisk nod and stepped forward, one foot into the doorframe, and for a second he was illuminated in the doorway like a silhouette. Then with a quick step, he was engulfed by the bright light from inside and vanished from sight.
"PEETA!"
I rushed in after him afraid. Something might happen to him!
As I step through the portal, my body is immediately overcome by a strange sensation. It's like my bones are being stretched and compressed all at once. I feel like I'm being pulled apart.
When I open my eyes, Peeta and I are standing in the middle of a forest, nothing like we've seen before.
"Katniss, where are we?"
"No idea, but we're not in the arena anymore. Thank God for that."
I take my bow and ready it to fire if there is danger. We go for about half an hour before we see another bright light in the distance. Then we hear voices.
Voices, that could mean people which means civilization.
We start heading towards the voices. As we get closer, they get clearer and clearer. In front of us is a road, and a man and a woman standing in front of a sign.
"Welcome to Storybrooke." The man says.
Peeta accidentally steps forward and makes our presence known. The girl pulls out and points a gun towards us. We step out of our hiding place, my bow in my hand ready to fire.
"Who are you, where are we?" I ask.
"I'm Four, and this is Tris. We have no idea how we got here." The man says cautiously.
"Isn't four a number?" Peeta inquires.
"Shut up Peeta." I mumble.
Tris lowers her gun, and takes a step forward. "Can you help us?" She asks me. "We're lost and we don't know where we are or how to get back to our home."
"I'm Katniss," I say, lowering my bow. "And this is Peeta. We're from District 12."
"District 12?" Four repeats, looking confused. "What's that?"
"A district in Panem. Where are you guys from?"
"Chicago." Tris says.
"What the hell is Chicago?"
"Where we live. Where we live in our factions."
"Factions, what?"
Another bright light blinds the four of us for a moment, but then it stops. We see a yellow car sitting in front of us. Another girl with blond hair steps out of it, and a man with a hook for a hand also steps out.
"Hi. Welcome to Storybrooke. My name's Emma."
I stare at Emma and the man with the hook, completely confused. Where are we? How did we get here?
"Storybrooke?" I ask, still bewildered.
"Yes, Storybrooke," Emma confirms. "And you guys are?"
"I'm Katniss, and this is Peeta," I introduce us. "We were in an arena for a deadly competition, and then we found a portal and ended up here."
"I'm Tris."
"Four."
"Oh, my God. You're kidding. I grew up on your guy's story."
"Our.. story?" I say confused. "What..."
"Thank you," Peeta interrupts.
"We should head back to the station and figure out what the hell is going on," Emma suggests. "Follow me."
As we walk through the town, I can't help but feel like I'm in some sort of dream. The people, the buildings, the cars - it all seems so foreign.
We arrive at the station, and she starts asking us questions about where we came from and how we got here. We tell her everything we know, but it doesn't seem to make sense to her.
"I'll have to do some research on this," Emma says, typing away on her computer. "But in the meantime, you guys can stay here. There's a few spare rooms in Granny's that you can use."
"Thank you," I say gratefully. "We don't know how..."
Tris also interrupts me.
"But we're still confused. Could you please explain to us what's going on here?"
Emma and the man with the hook exchange a look before Emma begins to speak.
"Storybrooke is a town in Maine that's cut off from the rest of the world. It's populated by characters from fairy tales and other fictional stories, and somehow, you guys ended up here too."
I exchange a look with Peeta, both of us still struggling to grasp this new reality.
"But how did we end up here?" Tris asks, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"We don't know yet," the man with the hook speaks up. "But we'll figure it out. Come on, let's take you guys to see the mayor. She'll know what to do."
As we follow Emma and the man with the hook to the mayor's office, I can't help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with fear. This is a world unlike any I've ever known, and I have no idea what kind of dangers and challenges we'll face.
The mayor, a regal-looking woman with piercing blue eyes, greets us with a warm smile. She listens intently as Emma and the man with the hook explain our situation.
"I see," she says, once they finish speaking. "Well, you are welcome to stay in Storybrooke for as long as you need. We will make sure that you are taken care of and that you have everything you need."
"Thank you," Tris says, her voice shaking a little.
The mayor smiles kindly at her. "Don't worry, dear. We'll figure this out. In the meantime, you should try to get some rest."
With that, she dismisses us, and we follow Emma and the man with the hook out of the office.
"I know this is a lot to take in," Emma says, once we're back outside. "But you should know that Storybrooke is a safe place. We won't let anything happen to you."
"Thank you," Peeta says, his voice quiet.
"We should go get you guys settled in," the man with the hook says. "Follow me."
He leads us down the street, and we soon come to a cozy-looking diner. The man with the hook opens the door, and we follow him inside.
A woman with curly red hair and a warm smile greets us at the counter. "Hey there. Can I get you guys something to eat?"
"We could all use a meal," I say, my stomach rumbling.
"Great. Sit down, and I'll bring you some menus."
We take a seat at a booth, and the man with the hook sits with us.
"My name is Killian," he says, introducing himself. "But most people around here call me Hook."
"Why do they call you Hook?" Tris asks curiously.
Killian chuckles. "Because of this," he says, holding up his hook.
Tris looks both intrigued and horrified. "What happened to your hand?"
"It's a long story," Killian says wistfully.
Emma arrives with the menus, and we each order some food. Once our dishes arrive, we dig in hungrily.
As we eat, Emma and Killian begin to explain more about Storybrooke and its inhabitants. They tell us about the Evil Queen, the curse that brought them all to this town, and the various fairy tale characters that live there.
"It's a lot to take in," Peeta says, wiping his mouth with a napkin. "But I'm glad we're here with you guys."
"Yeah," I agree. "Thanks for everything, Emma and Killian."
Emma smiles warmly at us. "Of course. We'll always be here for you if you need something."
As we finish our meal, I can't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. Although we're in a strange and unknown place, we have new friends and allies to help us navigate this world. And with their help, I know that we'll eventually find a way back home.
The rest of the night passes in a blur of exhaustion and confusion. We are escorted to Granny's bed and breakfast, where we each take a room for ourselves. The bed is soft and comfortable, and I'm grateful to finally be able to lie down and rest.
As I close my eyes, I can feel the events of the day weigh heavily on me. My mind is racing with questions and uncertainties, and it takes me some time to drift off into a restless sleep.
When I wake up, the sun is already shining through the window. The room is quiet, and I can hear the sound of birds chirping outside. Slowly, the events of the previous day come flooding back to me, and I sit up abruptly.
I'm in a strange place, surrounded by unfamiliar faces and creatures. I have no idea how I got here or how to get back home. But for now, all I can do is wait and see what happens next.
I get dressed and head out of the room, eager to find out more about this strange world. As I walk down the stairs, I can hear voices coming from the kitchen. Curiosity gets the best of me, and I head in that direction.
Inside, Emma and Killian are sitting at the table, sipping on coffee. They both look up when I enter, and Emma greets me with a smile.
"Good morning, Katniss. Sleep well?"
I nod, still feeling a little disoriented. "Yeah, I guess. What's next?"
"We're going to go see if we can find any more information about how you guys ended up here," Killian says.
"Great."
