Seo Jin's topic for her radio show becomes about falling in love
Seo Jin: Hello….. everyone…. as you well know the format of this show has been about topics that interest me…. Today, however, I would like to know your views … to get the conversation started…. Love , what is it…Why is it that everyone wants it, but very few find it…If you are one of those that found it….Tell me about the moment you fell in love…. How did you know and what did you do about it?
Yoo Ju Hye her producer…..is startled that Seo Jin went off on a different direction than what they had discussed in show prep….. Seo Jin smiles and waves her off… telling her to not worry.
Seo Jin: First Caller….. From what you told the screener… You think Love is an allusion….. Why do you think thank?
Caller 1: If love is so wonderful…. Why do so many end up in divorce… They first say I love you, then the first thing that goes wrong…. They say I'm out of here? …. Look at you Seo Jin…. I'm sure you said I love you to your first husband…. But what did you have to do to get away from him….Love is an allusion as soon as it's within your grasp it vanishes.
Seo Jin: What an interesting caller….. Caller…. Let may ask you …. How many times has love alluded you? ….. Do you still seek it or have given up on it completely and that's why you're in the state you're in?… As This Caller pointed out love is not perfect….. it's probably the hardest to find and keep… but do you just give up on it?
Caller 2: Caller 2….. You've experienced a quick divorce and just as quick of marriage that has lasted. You told the call screener that your first marriage was over on your wedding night…. While your second marriage was consummated on the first date and now 4 decades later still going strong… before we get the answer to this unique scenario we need to take a profit time out…. Yoo Ju Hye wants some answers since she has been left in limbo
Ju Hye: What has gotten into you… Where did this topic of love come from… Seo Jin give me some answers so that I know what I'm dealing with….. this is so unlike you.
Seo Jin: Taking risks sometimes gives us our greatest rewards… you should try it sometime.
Ju Hye: What happened this weekend that has changed you so?
Seo Jin: Maybe for the first time in my life …I'm in love.
Ju Hye: When you left on Friday you were grumpy and irritable since this was the weekend Hyeon -U had to spend with his father…. After the show we are talking… Let's try to salvage this show.
The Show was salvaged ….in fact after the ratings were released the segment was one of the highest to date… Director Kim asked that this open line thing become a regular feature of the show.
With the knowledge that Seo Jin admitted to being in love Ju Hye was not letting her best friend off the hook without the details as to what really happened during the 48 hour weekend.
Ju Hye: let's go have a drink or is your new lover waiting for you… I didn't think you were interested in anyone… tell me what happened…. Are you really in love?
Seo Jin: Yes… I had the most amazing weekended….We went out to dinner … he surprised me with his menu selection….we ate, drank some wine and we talked….. then we walked and talked by the river walk… we found the piano under the bridge ….he then serenaded me by playing a Rachmaninoff concerto.
Ju Hye: Who is this guy….. he sounds to good to be true.
Seo Jin: he's been in front of my eyes this whole time but I was to afraid to see him…..as a friend he always held out his hand….As a lover…. He makes my body feel all tingly and warm and I can't get enough of him.
Ju Hye: So you've already slept with him!
Seo Jin: I couldn't help myself… I was faced with the decision of letting him go or letting myself go…. I chose to risk it and now I have no regrets….. He loves me as much as I love him. That why I decided to do this show today in that fashion.
Ju Hye: You still haven't said who it is?
Seo Jin: It's Shin Sung Han….. Can you believe it ?
Ju Hye: That's why you were hesitating coming back to the radio….. You've had these lingering feelings for him the whole time….. How is Hyeon U taking it?
Seo Jin: We still have to talk to both boys ….. this isn't just about us… they have a say in what we do.
Their conversation with the boys was not what they expected. Sung Han suggested they go to the Noodle Shop now that it's opened again….. So Yeon greets them
So Yeon: You two have become quite the family….. Seo Jin smiles and Sung Han answers
Sung Han: eating your noodles makes people want to get married…. Is Hyeong Geun looking to buy a baby stroller yet?
Seo Jin: Don't mind him….. I'm so happy that you and Hyeong Geun found each other… When is the wedding?
So Yeon: didn't Hyeong Geun tell you?… in two weeks… I'll call you tomorrow with the details. Let me make you your noodle dishes.
Seo Jin: Why did you have to tease her?… she's so happy…. She's waited for the right man to come into her life… Hyeong Geun is your best friend aren't you happy for him… So Yeon will be the kind of wife that he has needed… she loves loves him only.
Sung Han: I was just having a little fun….. of course I'm happy for them…. Hyeong Geun will be a very loyal husband.
Hyeon U : Mom… Uncle Sung Han….. is there something you're trying to tell us… Gi Yeong and I have been talking as to how you two have been acting lately.
Gi Yeong : Yeh Uncle… you've been acting really strange l, what's up with you?
Hyeon U : That goes for you mom… it's like you're in a constant day dream.
Seo Jin: We have something to tell you, but if the two of you are against it we will respect your wishes
Sung Han: Both of you boys are getting to the age when you start looking at girls differently and when you get old enough , you'll find that special girl that you always want to be with… Hyeon U….. your mom is that special girl for me.
Hyeon U: Is that why she's been so happy…. Are you two sleeping together already?
Sung Han and Seo Jin are both kind of stunned
Seo Jin: What do you mean are we sleeping together?
Hyeon U: Mom ….. you never looked at dad the way you look at Uncle Sung Han
Gi Yeong: Uncle…. That goes for you also…. You seem to find excuses to call Aunt Seo Jin every chance you get…. We're not upset that both of you wanting to be together…. We think it's kind of cool, but there is a problem… both of you have to submit guardianship reports…. Will having sex outside of marriage affect your guardianship status?
Hyeon U: Mom… Dad did it before to you with that video he released…. I don't want to ever live with dad.
Gi Yeong: Uncle….. If Aunt Seo Jin is so special to you why aren't you marrying her …. Isn't that what adults in love do?
Sung Han: I'm beginning to wonder who the adults are…. Seo Jin ….. This wasn't how I planned to ask you.
Seo Jin: Yes I'll marry you… we can't cause our boys anymore trouble…
So Yeon: I couldn't help eavesdropping…. So it's official… I can tell Hyeong Geun … let me be the first to congratulate you…. The four of you make such a wonderful family.
Becoming a merged family has it's own set of problems like a suitable house or apartment for all four of them. Sung Han and Seo Jin both agree that They need a place uniquely theirs…. Sung Han's bachelor pad though stylish isn't what Seo Jin had in mind and Seo Jin little apartment is to small for the four of them. Sung Han instructs Jeong Sik to find them places that will fit their needs
Jeong Sik: Why am I the last to know?
Sung Han: Look at the big commission you'll be making, selling two and buying a third… you should be able to buy that sports car again.
Jeong Sik: You and Hyeong Geun have changed and I'm still being left behind
Sung Han: Life has a way of playing tricks on people… When Seo Jin walked into my office I had no idea that my future wife was her and I would have two boys to look after….. who would've ever thought Hyeong Geun would've ever gone off with So Yeon but that was the best decision he ever made. …. The only thing I can tell you is look out for the possibilities whenever they come your way…. Don't look to get laid and talk later… that's not a winning formula…. Look ,talk and listen will go a long way in weeding out the pretenders.
Jeong Sik: So what are you looking for… 3 - 4 bedrooms, large kitchen, game room , luxury bath, office…. Anything else
Sung Han: Your on the right track… but keep in mind simple but classic just like Seo Jin… also enough space to put a piano … she loves listening to me play.
Jeong Sik: you're really becoming a family man
Sung San: I guess I am
The boys asked their respective fathers if they could change their customary weekend visitation to just one day since they want to attended Uncle Hyeong Geun and Aunt So Yeon's wedding ….
The father's reaction
Kang Hui Seop: Hyeon U I'm your father….. they aren't even family to you… why do you want to be with them and not me?
Hyeon U: They are family… now that Mom and Uncle Sung Han are getting married , Uncle Hyeong Geun is like a brother to him, just like Gi Yeong and I have become brothers… we have become a real family….We will be moving to our new house soon.
Kang Hue Seop: When did this all happen?….. Why has your mother kept this from me?
Hyeon U: Dad you know the answer to that….. Mom is now happy….. happier than she has ever been.
The conversation between Seo Jeong Guk and Gi Yeong was a little different
Gi Yeong: Dad , I know that you're trying to make everything right between us, but let me be part of a real family for now…. Now that Uncle Sung Han and Aunt Seo Jin are getting married we've become a family….. Aunt Seo Jin treats me just like her own son….. where that never happened with stepmother…. Ha Yul was her daughter and I was your son, but you weren't a father to me…. Uncle Sang Han and Aunt Seo Jin have made us into a family... Uncle Hyeong Geun and Aunt So Yeon are getting married and we want to go to the wedding as a family
Seo Jeong Gua: Ofcourse you can go... Gi Yeong...I'm sorry that I was too blind to see what was happening, I promise I will be a better father to both you and Ha Yul. Ha Yul asked if she could join us on some of our visitation …. She misses her big brother.
Gi Yeong: Will stepmother allow that?
Seo Jeong Gua: she won't have a say on it…. As long as you want to see your sister.
Gi Yeong: I miss Ha Yul also and I miss grandmother Ma
Seo Jeong Gua: we will visit grandmother Ma without Yeon Ju
At the wedding ….. friends and family gather to see the bride and groom says their commitment to one another
Wedding Magistrate: Kim So Yeon …. You have recorded with the Wedding Registration Bureau your intent to marry Jang Hyeong Geun as your lawful wedded husband … What do you say?
So Yeon looking at Hyeong Geun with the biggest smile on her face: Yes… I accept Jang Hyeong Geun as my husband for ever and ever…. Hyeong Geun eyes tear up … he still can't believe this woman wants to be his wife …. Everyone claps and applause
Wedding Magistrate: Jang Hyeong Geun … You have recorded with the Wedding Registration Bureau your intent to marry Kim So Yeon as your lawful wedded wife… What do you say
Hyeong Geun with eyes filled with tears and a heart ready to burst: Yes, before she changes her mind in wanting to marry a guy like me… yes, yes and yes….. Everyone claps and applause
Wedding Magistrate : to the witnesses… Shin Sung Han ,Jo Jeong Sik and Lee Seo Jin do you agree to this marriage…. All three respond yes….. Everyone claps and applause
Wedding Magistrate has them all sign the register and hands over the red book confirming their marriage and tells the Groom he may now kiss the Bride…. Hyeong Geun cups his hands around So Yeon's face and gives her a sweet and gentle kiss on her forehead…. So Yeon takes his hand and lowers it to her stomach and whispers into his ear
So Yeon : Hyeong Geun...This is my wedding present to you…. I love you so much.
Hyeong Geun can't believe what he just heard and drops to his knees and puts his ear next to her belly
Hyeong Geun: you are really in there?
So Yeon: Yes he is in there….. your his daddy.
Everyone claps and applause as a stunned and dazed Hyeong Geun is still grasping at the thought that he will become a father to his own child. The news put a big smile on the face of Kim Hae Sook as she walks over to the bride and groom
Kim Hae Sook: I had almost given up hope that I would see my daughter married let alone become a mother…. Son In Law….. Thank you….. now treat her with all the love and care that is in that big heart of yours …. you can now go buy that big baby stroller for your own child… with a big smirk on her face.
The surprise announcement has everyone talking especially Sung Han and Seo Jin
Sung Han: Did you know about this…. Women tend to keep news like this to themselves
Seo Jin: No I didn't but I kind of suspected… So Yeon was asking me questions about my pregnancy …. Are you lumping me with most women…. Not that I am , but if I should become pregnant you will be the first to know…. Anyway do you want to have a baby with me?
Sung Han: lets get married first and have a real honeymoon.
Seo Jin: you men are all alike…. As long as that middle leg gets preferential treatment that's all that matters.
Sung Han: I beg to differ…. How many women complain when their's isn't adored and brought to peak stimulation ….. it's always the man's fault
Seo Jin: Ok counselor… you've made your closing argument…. Lets arbitrate so that it's a win win for both of us…. But seriously we need to talk about having a baby….. do you or don't you?
Sung Han: Can we differ this conversation when it's just the two of us… just know that I love you and you love me…. Everything else we both need to think what is best for us…. Right now we have two boys that need us to guide them… in doing so we will guide each other.
Seo Jin: No wonder your such a great lawyer… you know what to say and when to say it
Choi Jun being the busy body that he is can't help but notice the diamond ring that Seo Jin is now wearing
Choi Jun: Seo Jin ….. you haven't been coming to the office as much
Seo Jin: Now that the office has the additional staff… I have new priorities
Sung Han: Those priorities happen to be her full time job …. Is there something else you're interested in?
Choi Jun: Boss… getting information out of you is like pulling teeth…. We've all been speculating , but now it's obvious with the ring Seo Jin is wearing….. are you two now together?
Yu Sae Bom : I won the bet… you need to pay up… He didn't believe me that after Hyeong Geun and So Yeon that you two would be next…. Next office pool will be your baby news.
Sung Han: you two need to spend more time on the cases, let alone our relationship
Choi Jun: that's our cue to leave….. you really think they will be having a baby next
Yu Sae Bom : you can't be that naive.
A two year time jump ….
Seo Jin has reclaimed her status as Queen of Talk Radio along with her coveted 9: 00 AM time slot. This journey has garnered much attention in that within a three year time span she went from top to bottom and back on top again . Becoming the comeback star many magazines and television talk shows have requested interviews…. Seoul's version of Entertainment Tonight got the coveted interview with Park Min Su as the host.
Park Min Su: Ladies and gentleman ….. the Entertainment Industry can be very rewarding but also very brutal to those personalities that seek to make a living in it… being in the media your life is lived in a fishbowl … tonight we have as our guest Lee Seo Jin the reigning Queen of Talk Radio….. Please welcome welcome Lee Seo Jin.
Seo Jin walks from behind the curtain and smiles and waves to those in the audience….. then walks to Park Min Su as they share a hug before the interview starts
Park Min Su: Seo Jin you look amazing….. Ladies and Gentlemen this lady gave birth to twins just a year ago…. Another testament to your resiliency
Seo Jin: Thank you… the twins do keep me active.
Park Min Su: Your resiliency in this business has become the talk of the industry….. three years ago you were the Queen of Talk Radio but your nasty divorce and custody battle for your son cost you dearly… BSN Radio canceled your show and you found yourself out of radio. For most people this would've been the death knell to your career, but not you….. tells us what happened and what you went through.
Seo Jin: During that time the only concern I had was getting custody of my son… even though I was being smeared by the same media that had propped me up. I was fortunate to have found a Divorce Lawyer that believed in me and was tenacious enough to win custody of my son
Park Min Su: The smears and hate towards you was because of a sex tape taken of you without your consent by an unscrupulous former lover. How were you able to deal with that?
Seo Jin: At first I wanted to be completely out of the public's eye….. I wanted no attention what so ever….. I went so far as to change careers and went to work in a law firm
Park Min Su: That law firm happened to be your divorce lawyer's….. Shin Sung Han who happened to have changed careers in mid life….. He was music professor / concert pianist turned divorce lawyer… that's another story in itself.
Seo Jin: Divorce Lawyer Shin came into my life when I needed support the most…. Working in his office allowed me to regain my confidence in myself … he showed me how to not back away from myself and deal with whatever disappointment head on. He and my son allowed me to love myself and dispense the shame that I still carried.
Park Min Su: That's an interesting point….. learning to love oneself is the key in being able to give and receive love from another…. Because of it you found love again …. Tell us how did that come about?
Seo Jin: Falling in love was the last thing I wanted back then… I really didn't understand true love so I had no idea what it was, but it slowly creeped into my heart…. Divorce Lawyer Shin and I became friends… he certainly knew everything about me so it was easy and natural talking to him ….. He to wasn't looking for a relationship….. he had one goal and that was to get custody of his nephew that his deceased sister had lost in a custody battle of her own. He became a divorce lawyer because of it.
Park Min Su: Neither of you wanted a relationship but as of today he is your husband and father of your twins.
Seo Jin: Once he won custody of his nephew we had something in common…. We were friends that were two single parents raising pre teen boys… we became parent buddies and started helping each other. Our boys became like brothers and we spent a lot time together.
Park Min Su: Many friends form support groups, but don't end up marrying….There was a attraction…. Right!
Seo Jin: Though I would never admit it at the time….. his overall persona was like no one I ever met before…. His mind, his confidence… he could see right through me… I couldn't hide anything from him.
Park Min Su : What about him…. Was he attracted to you?
Seo Jin: Back then he would tell himself, his feelings were those of a fan boy….. you know the celebrity worship….. it wasn't real..., but then it happened.
Park Min Su: What happened?
Seo Jin: When our boys each went on their customary visitation with their dads…. We both felt the pangs of loneliness so went out to dinner, we walked, we talked , he even played Rachmaninoff Concerto for me…. We didn't want that night to end and it didn't.
Park Min Su: So you became friends with benefits….. is that it?
Seo Jin: No actually it was very different for us ...Our boys quickly saw that things had changed between us , they made us realize that we needed to get married… we married and I quickly got pregnant.
Park Min Su: Your personal life came together, but how did your career get back on track?
Seo Jin: My shame and lack of confidence kept me from wanting to try again. My former producer set up a live streaming format which I started doing. My son made me promise not to get myself down with some of the haters making obscene comments... Once I learned that…. More and more people started listening ….. BSN Radio saw the results and offered me the afternoon drive slot. More and more of my old listeners along with the new ones….. my ratings shot up. As you well know ratings gives you power. My 9:00 AM slot was returned to me because of ratings….. that's my story
