"Every candle has been cursed with fire," Alba said.
"When dawn arrives, a hailstorm shall swipe through his life," Isla said.
"Seth Rollins shall pay for his sins," Alba said.
Isla walked over to Enid and placed her hands on her 31 year old coven sister's shoulders. She took in the look in those dark green eyes and laughed. There were so many emotions running through Enid. This was her choice. She was the one who wanted to take things this far, and her coven backed her up.
"Enid Hail, your time has come," Isla said. "Vengeance will be yours."
"And it will taste so sweet," Enid said.
Seth had known from the start what he was getting into when they started dating. He knew about her powers. She thought she could trust him but he was a good liar. He waited for her to fall for him good before asking for favors. He wanted her to use her powers for him.
It started small. She just had to show things. Like changing a color or starting a fire with her mind. Then came the harder requests. He wanted her to hurt people that went against him. When she declined, he hurt her instead. At first he was guilt tripping her and putting her down until he realized that tactic didn't work. Then he talked with his fists, and they talked fast and hard.
She had crawled out of his house that night and used her last strength to summon her sisters with the help of the moon. They found her there in the garden, alone in the darkness, only in her underwear and covered in bruises. They wanted to tear Seth apart in that moment but they brought her to safety instead. When she was healed, she got to choose how things would end.
She had finally healed, and her choice had been made.
"It's always darkest before the dawn," Isla said.
"Where there's smoke, there's fire," Alba said.
"My rage will hail down on those who deserve it," Enid said.
They went to Seth's house and made their way inside without being invited in. They found him sleeping in the bedroom without a care in the world.
"Oh, Seth!" Enid called.
He opened his eyes and stared into the face of Isla laughing. He was about to open his mouth and scream when she blew a powder into his face. Then everything went black.
He had no idea how long he had been out. He could feel a shift when he came to. He was no longer in his bed. He was sitting on a chair. He opened his eyes and stared into that long, wavy, cherry red hair.
"Enid?" He asked.
"I want you to hear this song. It reminds me of you," she said. "You always tried making me the villain in your world even though I did nothing wrong. So now I've become your fucking villain, Seth."
He heard footsteps behind him and turned his head to see Alba press play on his stereo. The song "Villain I'm Not" by Three Days Grace started playing. He was well aware of those lyrics and how he deserved them. He had tried making her the villain when she refused to do as he said. He had hurt her because he felt he had the right to own her and demand things of her. He tried getting up but found himself not able to move. He felt like he was tied down but there was nothing holding him down. Nothing but the power of three witches in his house.
"Let me go!" He demanded.
No one reacted to his demand. While the song was playing, Enid lit up 37 black candles she had placed on the floor between them. The song stopped playing, and she smirked at him. He had to try and reach her somehow. She had to still love him.
"Enid," Seth forced a smile. "What's this about, babe? We can work things out. I know I crossed a line but I swear it won't happen again."
"I know it won't," Enid said.
"We won't let it," Alba said.
"Make them leave, babe," Seth said. "Let's talk. Just you and me. It's me, babe. You know me. You love me."
"I used to," Enid said. "Not anymore, Seth. And never again."
"You're lying!" Seth raised his voice. "Let me go, or else..."
He was cut off by the laughter of Isla. He hated that laugh. It was scary and cruel to listen to, especially when she was standing behind him. He had no idea what she might be up to.
"37 candles," Enid said. "Because you're about to turn 37 soon."
"I don't understand," Seth said.
"Each candle is cursed by someone in your life. Some of them are people close to you like your mother and brother, and some are more distant relatives or friends. What they have in common is that you care about them all," she said.
"Don't hurt them," he said.
"I won't," she twisted a sideways smirk. "You will."
"Fuck you! I'm not hurting anyone!" He snarled.
Again Isla laughed and he tried his hardest to get free from the chair. His body refused to move no matter how much he tried. He gave up and settled his eyes on Enid again.
"I'm sorry for what I did to you. I didn't mean it. Let me go, babe. I swear I'll never interfere with your life again. It will be as if we never met to begin with," he said.
"I will be fair. They won't all die," she said.
"No one has to die," he said.
"You took 10 months from me. You hurt me like I've never been hurt before. Fair shall be fair. One life for each month. Pick 10 candles," she said.
"I refuse," he said.
"Very well. Then I'll pick for you. I know what candle is connected to what person," she said.
"No, wait!" He yelled.
He felt tears in his eyes but she showed no remorse. He knew he had done something she would never be able to forgive but this was way worse. She was going to take away innocent lives as punishment.
"None of these people have done anything wrong to you," he said.
"Just like I didn't do anything wrong to you, yet you still hurt me," she said. "What's it gonna be, Seth? Will you choose or will I?"
"At least tell me which candle belongs to who," he said.
"Where's the fun in that?" She asked.
Isla laughed again. Enid joined in with the laughter. He could even hear Alba chuckle a little even though she was usually the most serious one of them. He knew he wasn't going to get away from this. Ten people would die no matter what. He followed the row of candles. He tried figuring out what other people would do to do most damage. The ones he loved the most had to be somewhere closer to the middle since he was placed in front of them. It was a trick to make him choose those.
"The first five from each end," he said.
"You're not very creative," she said.
"Just fucking do it!" He snarled.
She leaned closer to the first candle. He followed the movement of her lips.
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" He yelled.
She looked up at him, waiting for him to pick another candle or tell her to keep going.
"You can't fucking do this," he said. "Please, Enid! This isn't you. You're not this cruel. I know you."
"You never knew me at all," she said.
She blew out the candle and he let out a sob. He was expecting to feel something or be told whose light she had just put out. Instead she kept moving and blew out the four candles next to it. She crawled next to the candles to get to the five candles in the other end. For each one she blew out, he felt his heart break more and more. Once she was done, she stood up and smirked at him again. He never knew she had this much evil inside her, but he deserved it. He deserved feeling her wrath and hatred after what he had done to her.
"It's up to you to blow the others out. You won't hurt them by doing so. Only I can do that which is why I'm gonna leave them burning for as long as you want them to," she said.
"What did you do?" He asked lowly. "Who did you just kill?"
"You'll find out soon enough," she said.
"Who the fuck did you just kill?" He screamed.
She walked over to him and wrapped a hand around his throat. She put enough pressure for him to fear for his own life. She turned his head enough so he was able to look towards the window.
"There's a hailstorm coming," she said.
In that same second the sky opened up and hails came pouring down. He knew it was her doing. He had no idea she could control the weather too, and it scared him even more. She forced his head back so he once again could look at her. Those dark eyes had no love left for him.
"Stay away from me, Seth. Don't ever tell anyone what went down here tonight. If you come near me again, I shall do much worse. This is your only warning," she said.
"I won't come near you. I swear," he said.
Tears started running down his cheeks. He couldn't hold them within anymore. She twisted a little, sideways smile and then let go of his throat. She walked away from him, and her sisters followed. He heard the front door slam, and he could suddenly move. He fell down on the floor, crawled over to the candles, and started examining them in hopes of a name or something on each candle to tell him who he had just been part of killing. There was nothing there. He would have to wait for the phone calls to arrive.
"Why?" He screamed. "Tell me who you hurt! Tell me!"
His voice echoed through the empty house. There was no one there to answer him. He curled up on the floor while sobbing and shaking. The remaining 27 candles kept burning, mocking him flame by flame.
"Stop it!" He sobbed. "Please!"
He pushed himself up on his knees and blew out all the candles. He collapsed on the floor again, holding himself and crying for a long time. The sun eventually broke through the window. He felt it on his feet first, and slowly the sun rays moved up over his body and lit up the entire room. And then came the worst sound he had heard in a long time. The sound he had been dreading. His phone started ringing.
