"Do we have everything? The dice? The board? All the figurines? The rin-"

"Mike, you have everything," Lucas interrupted. The party got ready for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign in Mike's basement for the first time in too long. Will was shocked when they invited him to do a one-shot. "You've been planning this for half a year. Nothing can go wrong."

"I just need to make sure everything is perfect," Mike said. "I suck at romantic gestures. Remember when I tried to ask Will to prom? I ended up throwing up on his shoes. I'm surprised he still said yes."

"He said yes because he loves you," Dustin said. "And I'm sure he'll say yes today too."

"Is El here?" Mike asked.

"She's already hiding in the bathroom," Lucas promised. Eleven didn't usually play Dungeons and Dragons with them. Will would probably become suspicious if he saw her, but she had to be there because she played a vital part in the plan.

They heard Jonathan and Will enter the house. "I'll be up here with Nancy if you guys need anything," they heard Jonathan say. A few seconds later, Will began to walk down the basement stairs. Mike greeted his boyfriend with a kiss on the lips.

"You ready to get this started?" Mike asked.

"Yes," Will said.

"Well then, Will the Wise," Mike said with a smirk. "Let's get this adventure going."

The game went as planned. The party met in a tavern in a small kingdom that was getting tormented by a vampire. "There was another body found without blood last night," Max explained. Her character was a dark elf. "Murders like this have been happening for about a year."

"So, you think vampires are behind this," Lucas said.

"I don't think," Max said. "I know. They have religious artifacts known to weaken vampires in the palace. Yet, the royal family seems to be working with this vampire. We'll need to sneak in and perform a heist."

"I know my way through all the secret entrances of the palace," Dustin volunteered.

"Then it's settled," Will said. "We try to break in at dawn."

They did a time skip to that evening. "We need to roll for stealth," Lucas said. Lucas rolled the twelve-sided dice. Using her powers, Eleven manipulated the dice so it would land high enough for them to enter the palace.

"You're able to enter the palace undetected," Mike narrated. "However, you aren't on a clear path. The dark prince, Aclar, is up for a midnight stroll. You'll need to roll again to get past him."

They roll again. Eleven made sure it landed high but not over the threshold of being a complete success. "Max, Dustin, and Lucas, you're able to sneak past the dark prince," Mike narrated. "But Will, you have been caught by the prince."

"Will the Wise," Mike said in a slimy voice.

"Your majesty," Will said.

"No need for formalities," Mike said. "I'm a huge fan of your work. I admire you and all things you do. What brings a noble wizard such as yourself to my palace?"

"I'm lost," Will lied.

"I don't believe you are," Mike explained. "I believe you're exactly where you need to be."

"The prince flashes his teeth at the wizard, revealing fangs," Mike narrated, breaking character.

"You're the vampire," Will declared.

"I am," Mike said, snapping back into character. "Don't kill me. I have a proposition for you. Allow me to turn you into a vampire. Together, you and I will rule our kingdom with an iron fist. You will have everything you ever dreamed of. Take this as a physical representation of my promise."

Mike pushed a small black box toward Will. He opened it, expecting a cheap little prop ring. Instead, he saw a real grey band. "What do you say, Will the Wise?" Mike asked. He wasn't the narrator or character anymore. He was Mike Wheeler, boyfriend of Will Byers. "Marry me?"

Will's jaw fell to the basement door. Eleven popped her head out, and Nancy and Jonathan emerged. Tears began to fall on Will's face. "Yes," he said. "I will marry you."

Mike slipped the ring onto Will's finger. The two men shared a loving kiss. Mike was excited; he said yes, but was also excited his lunch stayed inside this time.
