"V..." MC whispered weakly.

It was mostly out of an instinct, a deeply-held belief that, if only she calls for help, she will be granted reprieve. Alas, she knows that she will not be heard, as she is alone in the dark hallway and her voice hoarse from screaming. She keeps calling, though, as she stumbles around towards a way out.

She had finally escaped the clutches of Mint Eye and the sick and torturous concoction of Rika's. She had managed to trick the followers, had managed so far to navigate through empty halls, covered by malfunction fluorescent lights, despite limping and panting after a long purification. She briefly wonders if she is not being played, if this is some sort of test by her captors, but she decides to keep on with her hopes up, as it is better to try and fail than to wait quietly and powerlessly at her room.

So, now MC is trying to make her escape. She turns another corner and finds a door, which she promptly opens and crosses. It led outside, but she does not know where she is and which way is home, or at least a police station, nor even if this is ground floor. It is raining heavily and her clothes quickly become drenched.

"V." The battered woman squeaked.

She wants to get the hell out of there, preferably home. She hopes that she can find the man she is obsessively calling, she wants to hold on to him with all the desperation her pain is making her feel. She wants to know why he had not showed up to save her yet.

It has been two days. Or perhaps it has been five. Maybe even more, she has lost count. He had promised that he would come back for her, but all she does is wait and wait, to let herself take their torture, and she cannot deal with that any longer. Either he does not care, he still a part of Mint Eye and is just playing with her or Rika and Unknown were just that good.

MC sneezed from the cold. She could not take this anymore, so she thought that she could save herself, if no-one was coming for her. She is strong enough, and she is intelligent enough.

Is she not?

Suddenly, she can hear screams at the distance, people running around. A shot rang out and a pained gasp escaped her mouth. She looked down, and she is greeted by a bullet wound punctured straight in her stomach. A red stain forms on her robe, mixing with the rainwater steadily washing her upper body.

Her legs begin to shake, and it is hard to take another step. The pain was unbearable, but she could not stop there. She is determined to get away. The insane laughter of Rika's echoed in her ears as she stumbled away.

"The pain will set you free, child. The suffering will cleanse your wicked soul." The blonde mutters, her own form of gospel being preached as she commits the most grievous sins against humanity.

Another shot was heard and a yelp escaped her mouth, as MC is now shot in the shoulder.

"V." The victim whimpered as she stumbled, grasping at the pavement and crawling as much as she could.

Blood seeped through her fingers, and her vision blurred. MC struggled her way ahead, without knowing where it will lead. A trail of blood behind her.

"You aren't going to make it far. Come back and you shall be saved!" Rika demanded as she pulled the trigger again.

Luckily missing her by a thread, MC whimpered in pain as she struggled to move through the pain. She closes her chapped lips in a grimace as tight as she could, focusing on the pressure of her teeth as she could barely keep her eyes open and clear ahead. She has to get away, she has to leave now. She wants to go home.

She cannot go on anymore. Collapsing on the cold ground, pools of blood mixed with filthy runoff surround her body. She laid there for what felt like hours condensed in mere seconds, hoping to keep herself alive until someone finally noticed her body on the ground.

The woman coughed up blood, as the urge to close her eyes away from the grey light coming from the rainy sky became unbearable, as her grip on herself seem to be slipping. Is this the end? Is she going to die? What is going to happen with her?

Tears brimmed her eyes as the realization that she is going to die alone hits her hard. She will die alone, her body will be buried in a common grave and that will be the sad end of hers.

They aren't coming. He isn't coming. I'm going to die alone. No-one cares about me. No-one ever cared. I'm going to die alone.

Whimpers escaped her lips, as her breathing quickened. He had not found her yet, and she could barely speak. She cannot manage to muster the strength to call his name again, and she is losing hope. Her heart started racing faster and faster, the pain in her chest becoming unbearable.

Black dots appeared in her vision. Her eyes becoming heavy as the urge to sleep became unbearable once more. Maybe if she just took a nap, maybe he would show up? She will wake up with him by her side holding her hand, certainly. It will be all fine.

MC can almost see the sun. The sky is blue and there is no sign of clouds anywhere. The ground is soft and there is peace. She will sleep here, and maybe someone will come to find her there to take her home.

Maybe…

Her hand went limp at her side, just as V raced down the bloody path, Rika falling unconscious with a gash on her head by the door.

He shouts out her name in desperation.

"MC! No!"
