Chapter One: Firefly
Firefly sat waiting, as she watched the moons rise from the horizon, she saw a familiar shape running towards her, Dusk! Firefly leapt off her rock and flew towards the sandwing, she landed beside Dusk and hugged her like she hadn't seen her in centuries, which was not true since they met every night at sundown, "Hey Firefly" said Dusk as she twined her tail around Firefly's. "Three moons Dusk, is that all I get?" Firefly said in response, Dusk kissed Firefly on the snout, put her wing over Firefly's back and sighed. Firefly ducked her head at Dusk, "you all right, Dusk?" "Yeah, sorry just a little out of it". Firefly noticed a fresh scratch on her freckled nose, "were you fighting again?" Firefly asked quietly, "what" Dusk said as if she were on one of the moons, "you and your mother, were you fighting again?" Firefly said as she gestured towards the scratch, "oh, um yeah" Dusk reached towards the scratch and her talons grazed the wound. Dusk was everything Firefly ever wanted, a strong, fierce but gentle dragon who understood other dragons perfectly. Dusk was a dragon who was raised in the scorpion den, so she had a couple of scars, mostly inflicted by her mother. Dusk had an earring in one ear, made from jade in the shape of a teardrop, she has long curved horns and freckled scales and she was one of the paler types of sandwings. Firefly on the other talon, was a nightwing-rainwing hybrid. Her parents met after the volcano on the old Nightwing Island erupted so the nightwings were forced to leave their home and live in the rainforest with a new Queen, Queen Glory. Her mother was a rainwing called Blossom and her father was a nightwing called Mapreader who is secretly an animus, who then passed that power to Firefly. She is a dark purple dragon with neon greens and yellows with speckles of silver all over her tail and wings, like nightwing wings. She can change colour like rainwings but breathes fire instead of shooting venom. Dusk and Firefly met one night when Firefly was exploring the rainforest and walked unknowingly, into the tunnel that goes to the Kingdom of Sand, where she found Dusk on the other side crying as blood from her neck slowly dripped onto the sand. They met there every night since and slowly their friendship grew into something stronger…Love.
