Shit, shit, shit! Father is going to kill me! My school is full of vampires!

Ok just breath this ok. Well no its not, like not at all, but- NO there is no but! What the hell am I going to do when he finds out! I stop dead in my tracks as a thought cuts through the panic. How is he going to find out? Seriously! I cannot keep this a secret from him! Well, I mean technically I did promise I would stay safe, and well if these vampires have been living with humans for last few weeks and no one has suspected anything. Oh come on I know better than most that if a vampire wants to blend in they can. What about their eyes though. They were golden, not red.

A snapping branch immediately pulls me from my thoughts.

"Who's there?", I call, swallowing the fear that is super charging my nerves. I look around the forest for any signs of life but all I can see is the shadows of the trees.

"I know you are there", I yell. I don't, in fact I am probably just talking to myself but its better to be sure. I swear for a moment I can almost hear the forest breathing. Come on pull yourself together the forest is not breathing. True, vampires don't breathe. The thought sends me jogging back towards the school. There was no way I was handling a vampire unprotected. I mean I am running back towards to school that has five vampires in it but I guess at least there are witness? Well done Isabella, not even a day in and you are ready to put your friends at risk.

I take a deep breath and push open the double doors, and thanks to an opportune gust of wind, the doors slam open. The entire cafeteria falls silent as I force myself to not run back to the table. It takes all my willpower to not look back at the table of vampires, even though I can feel their stares burn holes in my back, thankfully my dramatics don't keep the attention of the rest of the students for very long and the chatter fills the room.

"Where did you go?", asks Mike.

"Yeah what the hell?", ask Jess.

"Are you ok?", asks Angela. Shit what was the reason I ran out of here like an idiot?

"Uh yeah, my car was being towed?", I said, well to be honest I think I was asking if they would believe it or not.

"Are you serious?", asked Mike.

"Yes?", I said/asked. Come on Isabella you laid your bed at least lie in it. "I didn't realise I had it parked in a restricted spot". Ok that's a good start.

"Oh no are you going to be able to get it back?", asked Angela.

"Yeah they said I could pick it up after school", I said. See this lying this is easy ok I've got this.

"That's great news! Text me when you rock up to school tomorrow and I will show you where you can park your car so you don't get towed again!", said Angela. My blood runs cold. Where the hell am I going to get a car!

Thankfully the subject was quickly dropped for a conversation about the upcoming dance and being the new girl I was not required to make any additions other than ' oh that sounds great!'. So I got to spend the rest of the break eyeing off the 'Cullens', if that was even their real name. They seem to keep to themselves for the most part, but it seems like my 'dramatics' has bestowed me the honour of drawing their attention. Especially the bronze haired one that Jess called Edward, he looks like he is trying to see right through me, I look behind me expecting to see a student drenched in blood. Strangely though the blonde Mike called Rosalie is gone. Maybe she was the one I heard in the forest. Great so she probably heard me muttering to myself an idiot. Hang on who cares what she thinks of me, she was probably out there trying to kill me!

The bell pulls me from my thoughts, and I look up to see that all the Cullen's have already left the cafeteria. When did I loose track of them! Come on! I need to more alert than that.

"Hey you ok?", asks Angela, "you look very deep in thought".

"Oh, uh, yeah! All good just distracted", I say.

"Are you worried about your car?", asks Angela.

"Why don't you just talk to the cute guys on the Res", said Jess.

"Pfft, yeah right. How could they even help", says Mike.

"No she is right", says Erik, "one of the guys that owns the mechanic on the Res is supposedly good friends with the chief of police, so they let him use some of their land for the compound lot in exchange for any uncollected car."

"Oh yeah", agrees Angela, "I remember we did a piece for it for the paper, it was one of the Community Initiative pieces."

"See Mike they CAN help", says Jess. Mike murmurs what sounds close to a 'whatever'.

"Why can't you just accept I'm right!", cries Jessica.

"I never said I couldn't", says Mike. Their conversation is lost to the hall as I make my way to science labs Angela had pointed out earlier.

This is perfect! Probably my only luck today! If the compound lot is connected to a mechanic with spare cars, then I could just buy one off them! I had enough money tucked away to hopefully get at least something that resembled a legally drivable vehicle without raising to many eyebrows. Now how was I going to get there? I could always check the bus stop where I got off this morning. I thought that the sign that said "Reservation" was to make sure the spot was empty.

My thoughts were cut short as I made my way into the science lab where a certain bronze haired vampire seems to be waiting for me. I immediately jump back, straight into Erik.

"I am so sorry!", he says before the teacher a noise, that honestly just makes him sound like he needs a cough drop. It does the trick however and Erik rushes to his seat.

"I take it you are Miss Swan", he asks, placing his chalky hands into his torn tweed pockets.

"Isabella", I say quickly correcting him. I really needed to nip that in the bud as soon as possible.

"Ah Isabella, well we are lucky that you have joined us but now would you be so kind as to take a seat so I can begin my class". I look around the room looking for any possible free space, any except next to-

"I believe Mr Cullen has a spare place next to him", says the teacher. There is no way in hell I am sitting next to a vampire!

"I assure you he doesn't bite", says the teacher. The class lets out a soft chuckle. I have always hated that line, but short of running out of the room in a blind panic, I walk towards the vampire. The so called Edward continues to stare at me with the same intensity that he did in the cafeteria but now that he is right in front of me, the fear starts to dig deeper.

"Now that we are all seated, lets continue on with our lesson on Mitosis", said the teacher, much the obviously disappointed mutterings of the class. Edward just keeps staring at me, and honestly could the teacher not see what the hell was happening! No of course he didn't, the Cullens had fooled all the humans, I am sure Mr 'sensitive soul' also thought I was blinded by his charms. Wait, that's right! Of course he did! As far as he is concerned, I am just another human, completely oblivious to the world of vampires. This was my upper hand, it wasn't much but it was something.

Almost as soon as I sat down there was a knock at the door, and in walked the smallest of the vampires. Well that upper hand didn't last long.

"Ah Miss Cullen, how may we help you?", asks the teacher.

"Good afternoon Mr Molina, I am just here to meet my brother, our parents are taking us into the city this evening and have asked that we leave a bit earlier to make it on time", she says.

"Ah of course, Mr Cullen you may g-", starts Mr Molina.

"I think you are confused Alice, we have a little more time", snaps Edward.

"No I am certain we need to leave now, you know when it comes to situations like this I have a better understanding of how things are meant to play out", says Alice.

"It's fine Mr Cullen you are fre-", says Mr Molina.

"You have been known to be wrong before Alice, don't you think it is better to understand all the factors involved before we make a decision", snarls Edward.

"I think, that you are focused on only one aspect of the situation, and considering Rosalie needed to leave before the rest of us, I would say this is more of a family decision", says Alice. The classroom is completely silent watching the two vampires stare each other down, as if they were continuing the argument using only their eyes. Shit their eyes. Their previously golden eyes were now onyx black, meaning they were either hungry or PISSED, and neither sounded like a good thing to be around considering how Edward had been looking at me.

"I HAVE TO GO", I shout as I push myself out of my chair, thankfully breaking the staring competition between the vampires. Alice's eyes slowly fade back to a dark honey as she eyes me off curiously, as if trying figure out my next move. Well good luck with that, even I don't know.

"Um, ok", says Mr Molina breaking his train of thought, "and why is that Miss Swan".

"Isabella", I correct him.

"And why is that Isabella", he says. That is a great question.

"Uhhhhhh, my car was impounded…?", I say/ask. Damn it I really need to commit to things better than this.

"That is unfortunate, but why does that mean you need to leave early?", he asks. Thankfully my brain manages to kick start. Took its time.

"I need to get a bus to the Reservation before they close today, and the last bus leaves soon", I say. Mr Molina looks at me sceptically but nevertheless just sighs and nods his head.

"I expect you to have chapters 3 and 4 memories by next class!", he says, signing my slip and handing it back to me.

"Yes, of course thank you sir!", I say. As I make my way out the door I look back at the two vampires. Alice seems to be torn between frustration and amusement, Edward on the other hand is still staring at me, his eyes still pitch black.

As soon as the door to the classroom closes, I run down the corridor, out the main doors, across the carpark and straight to what appear to be the nearest bus stop. Thankfully a bus with a sign clearly marked "Reservation" arrives not long after me. I take a seat at the back of the bus and lean my head on the window. The panic is quickly dulled by the overwhelming exhaustion as the adrenaline leaves my body. I feel my eye lids grow heavy as I start to doze off, but not before I see four vampires in the car park staring directly at me.
