Unexpected

AN: This is a sequel-ish story for my Dark Witch two-parter. Its time frame is during and after DW's last chapter (Revelation). It isn't absolutely necessary to read DW - there is a very abbreviated summary at the end of this chapter.
I'm writing this story for three reasons:
While I'm done with Bella(trix), I'm not done with her grandchildren.
I want to see if it is possible to write a 50SoG fanfic in pg13.
I need a bridge to fourth installment which is going to be a HP-ASoIaF x-over and where Harry Potter is going to return (as the main character this time around).

Christian didn't try to dissuade Leila from leaving. After all, his own rules granted both sides an option of an undeterred exit from their relationship. But even if he could have, he wouldn't have. It wasn't in his nature to beg. And if he felt some regret, he didn't dwell on it. Still, he decided to take a short breather (he wouldn't say "have a mourning period"). Afterwards, Elena could put out a word in the community that he was on the market for a replacement.

The matter was put on a back burner in his head shortly afterwards. He was looking for a new chief of security and a new housekeeper. Preferably reliable people who would stay in their positions for years to come and who wouldn't stick their noses in his personal affairs.

Also, there was going to be Washington gubernatorial election soon. It was the first time when the front-runner was a Native American. And from such a small insignificant tribe on top of that!

Christian's parents were going to vote for John Black without even giving it a proper thought. It was a matter of political... nicety for them? Christian wasn't sure whether having a certain skin color was a sufficient qualification for being a governor, especially when the said color wasn't really that much different from an average white guy's one.

Eliot was going to vote the same because he thought that the candidate was the second coolest guy on the planet - right after himself. That was rather disappointing. Eliot was raised with the same anti-gun sentiments as his siblings. It was rather inconsistent from him that he admired somebody for shooting a terrorist who then exploded.

Christian pondered his own choice for quite a while and he wasn't entirely set until the day before the election. In the end, it was a quality the two of them shared in his opinion which decided. Christian prided himself in being a good manager of his company and being good at understanding people. John Black proved himself to be a resourceful leader during his time in the military. It was difficult to say whether that capability translated well into his civilian life but it seemed that it was the case so far.

"Miss Anastasia Black is here to see you, Mr. Grey," Andrea's voice sounds from the phone.

"Black?" responds Christian when he gets over the Black-Grey irony. "I was expecting Katherine Kavanagh."

"It's Miss Anastasia Black who's here, sir."

Christian hates the unexpected.

"Well, show her in."

Black, Grey. Is this some kind of a joke? The interview is a favor to Eamon Kavanagh. Christian likes rational people and Eamon is one. He was interested if his daughter shared the trait but it seems that he won't be meeting her after all.

A commotion at the door brings Christian to his feet but before he can help the young woman who has just tripped and fell, she is standing upright again. It was a queer thing - she was on the floor one moment and the next moment she was up as if nothing had happened. The only evidence is the expression of indignation on her face.

"Excuse me," she says. "This has never happened to me before."

She is... well, beautiful. She has raven black hair and green eyes. Her skin is pale a little but not the way white people usually are. Her face has a hint of pronounced cheekbones. There is something exotic about her but he can't put his finger on it in such a short time.

She... stalks into Christian's office like... a fox sneaking into a cave inhabited by a lynx? Christian does a quick memory check but he is sure that she isn't from the community. Not one of his former subs, obviously, and almost as certainly not one of his "teachers". After all, she is way too young for that. And yet, she behaves as if she was one of his former girls and didn't expect to find him there.

"Mr. Grey," she stammers and accepts Christian's handshake. Her hand is hot.

Christian considers playing with her by pretending that he thinks that she is Kavanagh but then he decides against it.

"Miss Black," he says instead. "I was expecting miss Kavanagh."

"Kate, I mean, miss Kavanagh is indisposed. I'm studying English literature with her."

Yes, she does seem like bookish type. She doesn't seem like a journalist at all.

He notices that she looks like his mother a bit. However, there is something different - that very something he can't put his finger on yet. Still, it is close enough that she wouldn't stand out too much among his exes. Or maybe she would.

Her clothes, on the other hand, are utterly different. Bland business pants, a shirt, and a jacket. In fact, her attire isn't that much different from Taylor's, just shabbier. For a moment, Christian wonders whether the girl is trying to cross-dress before dismissing the idea.

Ana makes a polite remark about the mosaic of paintings. After all, it is the only thing in the office to comment about.

They sit down. Ana doesn't have any bag but Christian expects that she has some small notepad and a pen in her pocket. This doesn't prove to be the case. Ana crosses her left leg over her right leg and rests her joined hands on her knee. Her little fingers, ring fingers, and middle fingers are entangled but her thumbs and index fingers are erect with tips touching each other. She seems to be recuperating from whatever has rattled her cage.

"Mr. Grey, unlike Kate, I'm not studying journalism. Nor am I in the student newspaper. So, let's take her questions as general topics and whatever you have to say about them goes. Who knows, this might even give you some ideas for your address at the graduation ceremony, in case you don't have it ready yet."

"Of course it's ready," snaps Christian. Feed the world through science, that's what his message is going to be.

"Of course," she echoes. "Please forgive me."

Ana is trying to hide it but Christian is quite sure that she is unnerved behind her bravado front.

"The first one is rather dull but Kate insists on it," starts Ana. "Steve Jobs, Bill Gates - they all had certain ingredients which they used to cook up their success. Could you tell me about yours, please? A short motivation for future Steves and Bills, perhaps."

Christian laughs lightly through his nose. So Kavanagh planned to ask him about his way to success. He wonders whether she was so unoriginal or whether the question was supposed to be a diversion. Whatever Kavanagh's original plan was, Ana seems to be taking each question seriously. He tells her about his way of understanding his employees and working with them.

"So, a human resources micro-manager, one could say," comments Ana with a polite smile. "Does this extend to your products?"

"Not as much."

Christian doesn't elaborate. He has no formal education in electronics or IT - that's what his employees are for. Ana doesn't prod either. After all, her question was rather redundant.

"Next topic is your interest in manufacturing. You even build ships, if I'm correct."

"I like to build things. I like to know how things work and how to make them. And I love ships. What can I say?"

Machinery is also required for mass production of food and ships transport it around the planet.

"Telecommunications isn't enough for you? It's not like you are a purely software company."

"It's safer to branch out. Would you like me to elaborate? Then again, it would be better not to. It might become too much for you to remember."

"I beg your pardon?"

"You aren't making any notes."

Ana stiffens and repeats Christian's answer to the first topic, word by word, down to the intonation.

"Shall I continue and repeat everything else?" she asks.

"That won't be necessary," replies Christian. Some of his employees posses similar memory but he has to admit that he is pleased.

"Of course, I'll send you the transcript for your approval before I'll give it to Kate. An edited one, of course, I'll need to remove these interjections of mine. Or most of them, at least. As for elaborating, I have a feeling that you can do that while talking about next topic: farming technologies. This is starting to seem like a pattern. If this is a part of some kind of a philosophy of yours, you can talk about that as well."

"It really comes down to one simple thing: we can't eat money."

Ana smiles knowingly and when Christian doesn't immediately continue, she remarks, "I bet you aren't a fan of virtual economy then."

Christian has to admit that she is right. Still, he opts not to talk about it openly - he has many associates who make their living thusly.

"I think you have your answer already. But it's more than that. Famine is a serious problem in many parts of the world. You'll hear more from me in the address."

That isn't so unexpected. Ana knows that Grey is working with the environmental science department of WSU and gives them a lot of funding.

"We'll be looking forward to it."

Christian is proving to be difficult. Ana decides that she needs to engage him and not just because of the article.

"Mr. Grey, I'm going to deviate here and ask something that wasn't approved by Kate; something she probably won't print. Don't you feel that your philanthropy is merely addressing the symptoms, rather than the cause? You can ignore this question but if you have any opinion about overpopulation, feel free to share it."

"You are damn right," responds Christian with a hard expression. "The school paper won't ever print it so I see no reason to discuss this. But to sate your curiosity, when you're helping someone, you help them - you don't lecture and berate them about their life choices."

"Yes, of course. I meant no offense. I have to admit, if this country was facing famine... Never mind, let's just say that my parents prepared us for such a scenario."

"I beg your pardon?" What the girl knows about hunger?

Ana makes an exasperated sigh. "This is where we get ahead in Kate's questions. Off the record, my grandma had a really rough childhood and grew up without a proper family. When she was little, she had to avoid malnutrition for several years by killing and eating small animals. Now, my parents never had to go through the same but they still taught us how to survive on our own when we were kids. Anyway, I think this answers Kate's question whether your adoption shaped your life. I don't think there's any chance it couldn't have."

Christian is stumped momentarily.

"Have you just made all of that up?"

"Excuse me! I've told you I'm not a journalist. I don't make habit of lying! Would you like to see me demonstrate? I wouldn't need to go to woods anyway, Kate and I keep rabbits at home. She can't make herself to eat them with me though, she thinks they are cute."

"And you don't?" asks Christian, not being really sure how to react to that.

"Well, I find it somewhat relaxing to study next to their hutch while they rut. Not that I watch them, mind you, but the sound helps me to focus."

Christian puts his hands together and hides his nose between them. This interview is becoming weirder and weirder by the minute.

"Do you have other questions?" he asks finally.

"Yes. But before we go further, did you want to add something about your personal philosophy before we got sidetracked?"

Christian considers only briefly before he shares a quote from Andrew Carnegie.

"Here we go back to my grandma," exclaims Ana and tosses her hand exasperatedly. "Though my grandpa agrees with the first half as well. Self control was always important to him for its own sake."

"Are you comparing me to your grandparents?" jokes Christian.

"You would know to be flattered if you knew them. Anyway, next two questions are rather personal so we can cut them out if you wish."

"Feel free to ask, I'll feel free not to answer," shrugs Christian.

Suddenly, Ana's head snaps towards the door. "Saved by the bell," she utters.

There is a knock at the door and Andrea appears. "Mr. Grey, forgive me for interrupting, but your next meeting is in two minutes."

Before Christian can say anything, Ana is standing next to him, her hand outstretched.

"It was a pleasure, Mr. Grey," she says.

"Wait, you have to tell me about your grandparents," protests Christian as he stands up. He doesn't sound very serious but he has to admit that he would like to talk for a while longer. Andrea is taken by surprise by Christian's unusual reaction.

"I need to go to my car and type this down while it's still fresh." A sudden idea comes to Ana. "If you wish, we can go over it afterwards if you have a free moment later."

"Sure," he answers without thinking.

"You do?" asks Andrea, confused.

"I would be loath to keep you waiting though," he amends. "You can send it to me by e-mail. Andrea will give you my address."

That surprises both women. Kate was communicating through middle people for the whole time.

"Thank you," responds Ana. She has to admit, it is the least weird option. Also, she needs to get some distance at the moment.

Much to Andrea's and Olivia's astonishment, Christian sees the girl out of his office. Then again, he is going to a meeting anyway.

During the meeting, Christian can't get the short encounter out of his head. He considers whether he shouldn't call Welch afterwards and have him do a background check but he tells himself that it would be too wild even for him - he doesn't know the girl at all and they met only for a short while.

In the meantime, Ana gets back in her family's pickup truck. The very one bought by Billy Black decades ago, serviced by her father Jacob, loaned to her grandmother Bella, used by her parents afterwards, and finally passed into the care of her brother Harry who took a page from Arthur Weasley and animated the car. It wasn't difficult - it served for so long and came into contact with so many drivers and passengers that it accumulated a large karma and developed its own personality.

Keeping in mind what is she supposed to do, Ana stretches her legs and takes some kind of a box or a small suitcase from a glove compartment. Its corners and edges are protected by rubber. The car is bigger on the inside than on the outside so she is quite comfortable even in the front of the car. She opens the case which proves to be a laptop.

The transcript is hammered down in less than a minute. As Ana types, she streamlines it so it looks like everything was said by Christian of his own accord, with Kate's topics listed at the beginning (the ones which Ana managed to submit). She takes her cellphone, a similarly robust device, and connects it to the computer. She encrypts the e-mail with Christian's public key pointed to her by Andrea upon her inquiry. It is meant for internal usage but it isn't secret either - it is public, after all. Kate is going to publish the interview anyway but it is a standard practice in Christian's company. Ana signs the e-mail by her digital signature, the public key of which is published on her student profile. She includes the link to be sure, though it is unlikely that Christian wouldn't be able to find it himself. Her public encryption key is there as well, in case he decides to use it.

After sending the e-mail (she has to connect the cellphone to the car's external antenna for that), Ana rubs her forehead. There is no physiological reason for her to do that but the current situation calls for it. She can see pedestrians and cars outside. They can see only a small fraction of the front space but she still feels too exposed. Unlike the mundane version, this truck has two benches (each of them as wide as the original one) for the driver and passengers, positioned next to each other, with space between them to allow for passage into the room behind them. Ana goes there.

When in relative seclusion, some of her collected front falls away. She takes her jacket off and tosses it aside. Her gun is revealed. Back in the building, she wondered with some amusement whether they were going to let her walk all the way into Mr. Grey's office armed (and how would they react if they found out). Then she noticed among smells of many people in there one particular which intrigued her. It didn't hit her fully until she found its owner.

Remembering that it would be a bad form to damage the interior of the car, she keeps her displays of frustration pretty tame. After a while, she walks over to Fawkes's perch in the back and looks out of the back window, thinking. She can't call her mom - classes are in session so she is probably teaching at the moment. John and Sue are out of town and she wouldn't want to bother them with this anyway. She decides to visit home rather than to return to Vancouver. She hopes Kate will be all right without her. She sends her an SMS and starts the truck. Before too long, she is flying the vehicle (with invisibility activated) over Puget Sound. It would be nice if the car was submersible as well but Ana admits that it would detract from its romanticism. She lands on the opposite shore and heads to the Hood Canal bridge.

Back in his office, Christian reads the transcript of the interview. It is accurate but he wonders what does Ana's elimination of her own parts mean. Is she so self-conscious? Then again, she emphasized that she wasn't a journalist and wanted no part in the process. He types an answer confirming the accuracy of the transcript and his approval to send it to Katherine Kavanagh. He hovers the mouse cursor over the send button for a moment before adding the following:

You still haven't told me about your grandparents. Nor have you told me what were your last questions going to be.

On the eastern edge of the Olympic National Park, Ana stops the car at a convenient place. While it continues on its own on 101, she heads over the mountains with nothing but her gun, extra ammo, and a cellphone in her "dog pack". The car could fly over the mountains but Ana wants to run the rest of the way and she doesn't trust the car to make that kind of a journey on its own. It could crash into an aircraft or its levitation could start malfunctioning which would necessitate an emergency landing.

When she nears the home, she casts her mind in front of her, finds a fellow wolf on patrol, and announces her arrival. After all, there is still a crazy undead Death Eater on loose, they have to be careful. She heads to her parents' house to get some clothes.

Jacob is in his workshop which serves both his trades - a car mechanic and a gunsmith. He raises his eyes from his work when he hears and smells her approaching.

"Hi! Nice of you to stop by!" he greets her, arms spread for a hug. Then he notices her demeanor.

"Hi. When's mom getting home?" she asks.

Jacob opens a drawer and shows her Elizabeth's current timetable. It has changed since the last time because of another teacher leaving for a maternity leave. Jacob doesn't ask Ana whether she wants to talk about it, she obviously wants to talk with her mother first.

"I need to check my e-mails. Is anybody at the mansion?" she asks.

Jacob nods. If she doesn't want to use cell connection, she could use Internet connection at the school but her mother doesn't like misuse of public resources. Going to the Cullen mansion is the simplest alternative and they will be glad to see her.

Esme and Rose are the only ones there. They've been waiting for her, Jacob has obviously called them. Ana endures their hugs for a few moments before she extricates herself and asks to use a computer.

She reads the e-mail from Christian. She sends her text to Kate right away, tells her that she will be returning next day, and asks her whether she will be OK on her own. Then she thinks about Christian's response. It seems like he is inviting a response. She writes back:

Dear Mr. Grey, let me thank you for today's meeting. It was quite memorable. The questions in question were about your love life. As you can imagine, I don't feel that's anyone's business. As for my grandparents, that's a topic I'm rather unwilling to discuss in further detail with a stranger. And most certainly not over e-mail.
Until next time, sincerely yours, Anastasia Black.

While she types, Rose and Esme creep up behind her. They have changed to pajamas and bathrobes for some reason?

"Whom are you writing to?" asks Rose, catching a glance.

"Excuse me!" protests Ana. "I haven't come here for a slumber party!"

She understands where are they coming from. From all her siblings, she is the most normal. With John's older kids being away (just like Ana herself most of the time) and the younger ones not being in that age yet, she is the only one who can share such human experiences with them. Still, it is her mother she wants to talk with.

"I gotta go back and make sure the truck makes it home," she tells them.

"OK, don't hesitate to change your mind," calls Esme after her.

Ana runs to meet the truck. Its path leads through the base and the soldiers there don't like unmanned vehicles moving around unsupervised, even if this one is known to them.

Afterwards, she finally meets with her mother. Elizabeth listens to all that occurred. It is yet another first for the tribe - no she-wolf, and probably no wolf at all, has ever imprinted on someone who was both an outsider and completely mundane at the same time. That is, as far as they know about Christian Grey.

"Your wolf instincts aside, what do you think about the guy?" asks Elizabeth when Ana has finished.

"Like I said, he reminds me of Bella and Edward in some regards. I mean, some things about him reminds me of grandma and other of grandpa."

"So, he's as dark as my mother and as stuck up as my father?"

"Mom! Well, yes, kind of."

"My parents weren't always the people you have come to know them as. And maybe they have never truly changed inside. What I'm trying to say that this guy might be difficult and that there may be a long road ahead."

Ana acknowledges that and mentions her visit to the Cullen mansion. Elizabeth grins and proposes that maybe Rosalie and Esme had a good idea. Neither of them mention the most obvious complication: Christian is going to grow old and die, Ana is not. However, that's not a problem by itself and could be easily rectified under right circumstances.

When they get to the mansion, the two vampires unpack bottles of "vampire soda". Personally, Ana thinks that the stuff is revolting but Rose and Esme like how it quenches the thirst and Elizabeth is able to tolerate it well enough.

Ana checks her e-mails again. There is one from Kate who thanks her for the job well done. She makes no comment about the missing questions.

There is also one from Christian:

To be honest, I agree with your sentiment.
On a different note, are you back to Vancouver already? How have you gotten there so fast? I hope you weren't driving unsafely.

"Is it just me or does he wish to prolong your conversation?" muses Esme while looking over Ana's shoulder.

"Granny! This is private."

Ana calls her that way even though she is actually her (adoptive) great-grandmother.

"Oh come on," joins them Rose. "You have no experience with this, let us help."

Truth to be told, a small part of her wonders whether this Mr. Grey could share some traits with King. If the wolf senses are about DNA, would they detect something like that?

Elizabeth stands behind them, rolling her eyes.

Back in Seattle, Christian is done with meetings for the day. He returns to his office to work. He starts by checking his e-mails. There is one from Ana but he makes himself to take a look at the others first. He gives up after two e-mails and reads the one from Ana.

It's very considerate of you to be concerned for my safety. Alas, I'm not in Vancouver. I've decided to stop by at home and continue tomorrow.

Ana's parents live in Seattle (or near enough at least)? Doesn't she have school next day? He thinks for a moment and types a response:

I see. I won't disturb your visit. I would like to learn more about you later though, it would be only fair.

He picks a phone and calls Ros.

"Ros, I'll be working from home this evening. Is there anything else you wanted to talk about in person?"

"Actually, could I hitch a ride with you? Gwen was supposed to pick me up but she won't have to make a detour this way."

Ros lives on the same street as Christian.

Back at the mansion, when Elizabeth sees where is it going, she starts to regret her idea.

"OK, leave the girl alone," she declares. "This is their private conversation."

"What if the guy is some kind of a psycho?" protests Rose. "We could help spot that."

"Then Ana can zap him for all I care. She can take care of herself."

"Very well," concedes Esme. "We'll be in the kitchen in case you decide to have some fun after all."

Elizabeth excuses herself, she needs to tell Jacob about everything. He doesn't seem like it but he is on pins and needles with curiosity and concern.

Finally alone, Ana starts typing.

The visit is over already. I'm doing some schoolwork and such now. I had a phone call with Kate and she thinks about presenting the article as a prelude to your speech. I'll have her send it to you as soon as I look it over. Should she send it to the usual address or should I give her yours?
What is it that you want to know about me?

The message sent, she starts doing some serious research about Christian. The superficial preparation she did for the interview won't suffice.

In the meantime, Christian and Ros get in the car. As Tyler starts the engine, Christian checks his e-mails again. Does Ana mean that she hasn't shared his address with Kavanagh already? He replies right away.

You can tell her that she can send it to both of us. If she's as diligent as you, there may not be anything for you to correct. Yes, you can give her my address.
There's something I've been wondering about. How did you know that Andrea was coming to interrupt us?

"Whom are you writing to?" asks Ros.

"No one," snaps Christian.

"Is it that girl you've met today?"

"What?" How does she know about her?

"Yes, I've heard about the interview. Daughter of our friend Kavanagh?"

"No, she was indisposed."

Tyler appears to be focused on driving but something about Christian's reaction gets his attention. It seems to be different from what he saw in previous "acquisitions".

Ana sends her answer.

I have a good sense of time. I'll explain later, if you'd like.

This isn't a lie, technically. She does have a good sense of time and she can explain later that she heard Andrea's footsteps.

Christian recognizes the answer as an evasion but he lets it go for the moment. He manages to send another question before their arrival.

Very well, something else then. You mentioned studying English literature. Which authors made you fall in love with it? Somehow, I can't picture you as a Jane Austen type.

As soon as he gets in his apartment, he goes to his study and starts a computer. Sure enough, there is a response.

I read something of everything. Anything from Hardy to Heinlein and beyond. Foreign literature as well. But I'm not getting into this business because I like books.

Christian finds that a little odd.

Then why?

Ana considers what answer should she give him without revealing too much.

Humans are storytelling creatures, we can convey truth with stories. This is especially important in post-factual era.

Some time later, when they log-off and Christian goes to bed, he is decided to call Welch next morning.

The story so far:

A brother of a distant ancestor of Sirius Black travels to America, discovers Quileutes, and settles there with his family. Sirius stumbles upon this information and exchanges a few letters with Billy Black before the first war with Voldemort kicks off. Bella(trix) is an illegitimate daughter of Bellatrix and Sirius. A genetic disease and harsh upbringing turns Bella into a psychopath. Her presence in Hogwarts does have some effects on the events and on Harry but she mostly keeps to herself.

After Dumbledore's death, she travels to La Push to hide there. However, Billy Black believes that her cover would be better if she lived in Forks. She encounters the Cullens. Edward, Jasper, and Alice notice that there is something off about the new girl.

Meanwhile in Britain, after Ron leaves Harry and Hermione, the two decide to ensure their survival by betraying the secrecy of the magical world to the military.

Bella and her Quileute friends prepare for trouble coming to Washington. She also befriends some of the Cullens and later pretends to discover their secret. Later on, an incident with nomadic vampires compels her to reveal her own secret. She reveals to Cullens that the original undead vampires were created by wizards using necromancy and a substance of unknown origin and that the modern vampires like the Cullens have no necromancy left in them and their venom is highly diluted. She tells them about her disease and decides to stop the progress of her insanity by becoming a (modern) vampire. However, taking Rosalie's and Esme's stories into account, she starts to consider having an heir with Edward first. The Cullens and the Quileutes make a loose alliance.

Harry and Hermione infiltrate Hogwarts to destroy the last horcrux, bringing a nuclear bomb as a backup plan. The military means to turn the school into a death-trap for Voldemort and his followers. They are discovered and Ginny activates the coins, bringing the resistance to Hogwarts. Bella and the Cullens decide to investigate. Jared accompanies them. Many pure-blood wizards on the light side grudgingly decide to join forces with Harry for the battle. Voldemort attacks at a cost of heavy losses. The defenders draw the enemy in while escaping using fireplaces and house elves. Bellatrix Lestrange sets the nuke off accidentally. She, Voldemort, Harry, and the remaining horcruxes are destroyed but Harry returns as a ghost to be debriefed and to console Dobby who was supposed to evacuate him.

Events in Britain cause certain changes in the rest of the world but not as radical as the ones in Britain itself.

Fawkes joins Bella in Washington. Bella and Edward get married, have a daughter (named Elizabeth), and Bella is turned. She is no longer a witch and can't cast spells but retains some of her magical power. Later on, Jacob imprints on Elizabeth.

During and after the war with Voldemort, Volturi have lost some of its key members to a series of mishaps. Before they can replenish their ranks, Stefan and Vladimir awaken their grand-sire - an actual undead vampire. Unbeknownst to anyone, they don't see the vampire as anything more than an animated tool. They finish the Volturi.

The threat of the Romanian elder vampire and the absence of Volturi impels American wizards to cooperate with the military to a limited extent. The Cullens and Quileutes participate. Democrats and Republicans loose their monopoly on the White House.

The Cullens make contact with Nahuel. Seth imprints on his youngest sister. Nahuel's (and Huilen's) venom (which is even more diluted than that of modern vampires) can create "lite-vampires". This venom is used to turn a few soldiers to help combat hostile vampires.

The elder vampire's new fledglings (a muggle financial magnate and a fugitive Death Eater) and Stefan and Vladimir betray their master who is defeated when mounting an attack on La Push. A female dragon is summoned by Fawkes to aid in the battle. She remains in the area afterwards. Dragons are former dominant specie of Earth and survivors of an extinction event.

Seth and Jacob marry their respective imprints and start families. Jacob's son Harry becomes a wizard and Fawkes becomes his familiar. Another (James) bonds with a hatchling of the female dragon.

The oldest son John and Seth's daughter Sue intern in a dragon research colony (shoveling dragon dung). Afterwards, they get married and start a family of their own. Later on, John joins the army, compelled by a gut feeling given to him by dragons. This creates a butterfly effect which launches him into politics and turns him into a geopolitical plot-device.
