Chapter 1

When Percy woke up, he was met with an infernal headache, his head felt like someone had been punching it repeatedly for hours on end. If he knew taking the cup of wine from Dionysus would've caused this, then he would've listened to Annabeth and never taken it. Yet, curiosity got the better of him and he ended up passing out somewhere on Olympus.

You see, Olympus had thrown a celebration over Gaea's defeat. Everyone from the Romans to the Greeks were invited. After a small reward ceremony, where Percy managed to get his and Annabeth's applications to New Rome University fast-tracked, the party started. He and Annabeth had stuck close to each other during the party, it was rare to see one without the other close by. This didn't stop him from accepting a cup of wine from Dionysus.

He sat up and looked around his surroundings. He realized he was in his cabin, in his bunk. He was still dressed in his camp shirt and jeans from the night before, he must've been hitting the happy juice really hard if he managed to fall asleep in jeans. He figured Annabeth must've dragged his unconscious body back to camp after the party was over, either that or his father flashed him to his cabin.

A high-pitched ringing caused Percy to groan in pain as he put a hand to his left ear, which was suffering from the hangover of drinking too much, despite the fact that he only remembered drinking one cup from Dionysus's wine barrel.

Percy looked over at his alarm clock and sighed when he saw the time. It was one in the afternoon, he'd not only missed breakfast, but he'd also missed lunch. He'd have to wait hours before he could even think about having an actual meal.

With an irritated sigh, he got up from his bed and made his way to his wardrobe. After picking out his outfit for the day and getting changed, he made his way to the bathroom to at least brush his teeth, he didn't want anyone saying he had wine breath.

The only reason Percy even took the wine was because he was curious. If it was beer, he would've declined. He always hated the smell of beer after living with Smelly Gabe for so long. He could tolerate it, but that didn't mean he had to like it.

Percy stared at himself in the mirror after he finished brushing his teeth. His face was still fine, but he knew if he lifted his shirt, he'd find more scars than last summer. Going through Tartarus left its mark on his body.

Despite what many thought, he and Annabeth didn't break down at the mention of the word, nor did they have downright debilitating nightmares. Tartarus was horrible, but since they were demigods, their minds were more suited for survival in such a harsh environment. A mortal's mind would've broken within seconds down there.

That didn't mean the effects weren't there, they were. They were just a little more subtle. There were things like the fact that Annabeth was a little more protective over Percy and vice versa. Then there was the whole thing with them spending hours alone together behind closed doors. Rumors flew, and some were correct, but a good portion of them were wrong. Yes, sex was had occasionally, but most of the time it was just them letting out their feelings to one another or just relishing in the other's company.

Percy was broken from his thoughts by someone knocking on the door of his cabin. He left his bathroom and made his way to the door. When he opened it, he was met by Hektor.

Hektor wasn't anyone special, just an avid student of Percy's. They'd met shortly after the end of the Titan War, Hektor was one of the new half-bloods who got caught up in the national sweep by the satyrs, who took it upon themselves to search for half-bloods to bring to camp.

"Hey, are lessons still on for today?" Hektor asked, his eyebrow raised.

"Nah, I'm too tired." Percy stretched, "Take today off."

"Alright." Hektor nodded, "Are you okay?"

Percy looked back at the guy, he wasn't sure what it was but there was always something about him that drew his attention. Hektor looked sort of like an anti-Jason, just less handsome. They both had blonde hair and were physically fit, but the main differences lied in their eyes. Hektor's irises were a blood-red, a sharp contrast to Jason's electric-blue eyes.

"I'm fine." Percy said.

"Well, I hope you're fit to walk because Chiron wants to see you."

Percy frowned, "What? Why would he want to see me?"

There were plenty of reasons that Chiron could've wanted to see him for, but he just wanted to make sure there wasn't any trouble. He had no idea what he did while he was blackout drunk.

"He didn't say." Hektor said, "But if I were you, I'd go."

"Alright, fine." Percy said, stepping out of his cabin.

He watched as Hektor left. He turned his attention to the Big House, where he was certain Chiron was waiting for him. He started his trek over there.

As he walked, he couldn't help but smile, camp was starting to go back to normal. Those few months after the Titan War were some of the best he ever had. He was able to spend all the time he wanted with his friends and Annabeth, he was able to be a normal camper for once. He'd even gotten used to Clarisse's constant banter with him.

When he got to the Big House, he found Chiron was waiting on the back porch for him. He was alone at his seat at the table, Mr. D was nowhere in sight. If Percy had to guess, the wine god was probably passed out somewhere on Olympus in an alcohol-induced slumber.

"Chiron." Percy said with a grin, "Hektor said you wanted to see me."

Chiron looked over at him with a warm smile. He set down his newspaper copy of the New York Times, "Yes, I've been meaning to talk to you."

Percy walked up the porch steps and waited behind one of the chairs surrounding the table. Chiron motioned for him to sit down, so he did.

"So, what's this all about?" He asked.

Chiron cleared his throat, "I've been thinking of holding chariot races this coming Friday. I feel like the campers haven't done one in a while."

"I think that's a great idea. What do you need me to do?"

Chiron looked off towards the stables, "I had some renovations done to the stables, I'd like for you check on the chariots in there to make sure they're in working order. We don't want some poor camper losing their head over a broken chariot wheel."

"No, we wouldn't." Percy agreed, he'd seen chariot crashes before, and they were arguably just as bad as car crashes.

"Good, I'd like for you and Hektor to inspect them tomorrow."

"Will do, I'll go let him know." Percy smiled before getting to his feet.

As Percy walked across the camp, a cold wind blew across the campgrounds.

Ω

Before Percy found Hektor, he found himself being hounded by an angry Will Solace. He had his bow and arrow quiver slung over his shoulder as he walked over.

He knew something was wrong when the blonde son of Apollo came marching up to him with an angry look on his face.

"Percy, what the fuck?!" He exclaimed.

Percy stared at him with a dumbfounded expression, he hadn't done anything to upset Will, he hadn't done anything to upset anyone really. In fact, he'd been asleep for the past few hours so there was no way he could've done anything to piss anyone off.

"What?" Percy asked as he came to a stop.

"I know you did this, don't play dumb!" Will accused.

"I don't know what 'this' is, so calm down and tell me what happened."

Will pulled his arrow quiver around and showed Percy the arrows. Every single arrow was wrapped in a gray wrap, which he recognized as duct tape. Then he realized that the duct tape had been taped in a way that the adhesive was facing outwards, which meant all the arrows were stuck together.

Percy stared at the arrows before looking up at Will, "I didn't do that."

"Percy, almost every arrow quiver in the armory is like this!" Will said in a frustrated tone, "Just because I scored you low on archery didn't mean you needed to go and do this."

Percy knew what he was talking about. Will had scored him the lowest of his class and gave him a note that he was slowing down in improvement. It angered him, but he certainly wouldn't do this over that.

"I didn't do this, Will!" Percy defended himself, "I couldn't have done this! I was asleep for the past few hours, you can check with Chiron!"

"Oh, you didn't do this?" Will asked, "Then explain why you left the party last night and didn't come back until an hour later."

Percy's face turned red as soon as he realized what Will was asking about. He wasn't going to tell anyone, but the reason he was gone for an hour was because he and Annabeth had hooked up, not because he'd went to camp and pulled off whatever the hell this was.

"That's none of your business." Percy said, "I can tell you it wasn't so I could come and do this."

"I can't believe you, Percy." Will shook his head while pinching the bridge of his nose, "I'm going to have to cancel archery practice today because of this. Thanks a lot, man."

"Will!" Percy called as the son of Apollo walked off.

Percy sighed as he was left standing in the middle of camp like a moron. That whole conversation left a sour taste in his mouth, he knew he didn't do what Will was accusing him of doing. He had a few ideas of who could be responsible, but he knew for a fact there was no way he could've done this since he wouldn't have even thought this whole idea up.

Regardless, he continued his search for Hektor.

He didn't know why Will came to blame him specifically, there were plenty of other people at camp who would've done that sort of thing. To Percy, the duct tape looked like some sort of prank, maybe Will had gotten on someone's bad side, so they decided to prank him. Either way, he figured there wasn't any point in tracking down Will just to speculate, the guy was already dead set on accusing him.

Percy walked around camp, wondering where Hektor could've been. He knew the guy stayed in the Hecate cabin since he was a son of Hecate, but he'd already checked the Hecate cabin and he hadn't found him there.

He was just about to give up when he found Hektor sitting against a tree near the canoe lake. He had a bottle of Coke next to him while he read a book on psychology, Percy had no idea why Hektor would want to read something like that, but he ignored it.

"Hey."

Hektor looked up, "Oh, hey. What's up, Perce?"

"Chiron told me that we have to check the chariots in the stables tomorrow." Percy said, "I just wanted to let you know."

"Alright, I'll be there after lunch."

"Awesome." Percy said before turning and getting ready to go back to cabin three.

"Oh, and Percy?" Hektor called from behind him.

Percy turned to look at him, "Yeah?"

"Why'd you prank Will like that? That's kinda fucked, he was supposed to teach a class today."

"How do you know about that?" Percy asked suspiciously.

Hektor shrugged, "Will was looking for you. He asked me but I didn't know where you were. He showed me what you did. Why'd you do that? I thought you two were cool."

Percy didn't know if he was missing something, now Hektor was blaming him for the taped arrows. There had to be something that was causing this.

"Dude, I didn't fucking do that!" Percy exclaimed, "I don't know why everyone is thinking I did, I didn't do it!"

Hektor raised his hands in surrender, "Don't get mad at me, I was just wondering that's all."

"Well, I promise I didn't do anything." Percy said before he walked off.

He wasn't in the mood to be arguing with anyone today, his hangover was still pulverizing his body and mind, the last thing he wanted to do was get into an argument with anyone. The hangover was getting so bad that he made up his mind and decided he was going to go and sleep it off.

If only he knew that the hangover would soon be the least of his problems.

Ω

At dinner, Percy was sluggish as he walked in. The nap had quelled his headache, but it left him feeling worse than before. He felt like he was about to pass out at any moment, he barely stumbled into the dining pavilion.

By now, word must've spread about the duct taped arrows incident because a few people were looking over at him. Some wore looks of respect for what he could only consider as a master prank in their eyes, while others wore looks of disappointment, like they considered him to be mature enough to not pull off such a prank.

Regardless, he wasn't going to sit around and argue with anyone, not when his stomach was howling its demands for food while his brain screamed at him to go to bed. The smell of cooked steak had his mouth watering and for a brief moment, he completely ignored the fact that he was tired.

Percy had just taken his seat at his table when he heard a loud creak before suddenly, he was falling. A dull pain flew up his spine as he landed roughly on the ground. The sound of wood slamming onto the floor caused everyone to look over at him.

He sat up and looked around to see what had happened. His eyes landed on his table. The entire thing had fallen apart, even the benches had broken. The legs holding the table up looked like they'd been cut clean in half and the benches looked like the wood had rotted, though he wasn't sure how that could even happen.

Laughter echoed around him as the entire pavilion cracked up at his misfortune. He would've laughed along with them if he wasn't so embarrassed. Everyone had seen him take the fall, he knew the tale of the Poseidon table breaking with him in it was going to be the talk of the camp for the next few days, or at least until something more embarrassing happened to someone else.

Chiron trotted over, "Are you okay, Percy?"

"I'm fine." Percy rubbed his back, "What just happened?"

Chiron leaned down to look at the table, "Looks like someone is playing a prank on you."

"Doesn't feel good huh, Percy?!" One of the Apollo campers jeered at him.

Percy shot their table a dirty look, even by his standards, that was petty. He was almost certain that one of them had done this to get back at him for allegedly ruining their archery practice.

"You can sit with Annabeth, I'll have your table replaced by tomorrow morning." Chiron said as he helped him up.

"Alright, thanks, Chiron." Percy said as he walked over to Annabeth and her siblings. His face was red and hot, he'd been embarrassed before, but this was really embarrassing.

Annabeth scooched over and patted the spot next to her. He took a seat and sighed as everyone at the table gave him reassuring smiles.

"As funny as that was, sorry that happened to you, Percy." Malcolm said.

Annabeth patted his shoulder, "It's alright, you're not hurt, are you?"

Percy shook his head before throwing another glance at the Apollo campers, "One of them did this. I know it."

The Athena campers followed his gaze.

"Well, I mean, you did duct tape all their arrows together. I heard it took them hours to get the arrows unstuck. Even then, they were pretty sticky." Malcolm said.

"Why does everyone keep saying I did that?" Percy asked in an irritated tone, "I didn't!"

"Percy, dude, you were the only one in your class who scored below average. I'd be surprised if you didn't try to get back at Will over that." Malcolm said.

At this point, Percy was done trying to convince everyone of his innocence. No one was willing to believe him, and he wasn't about to reveal what had really happened when he left the party on Olympus. If he did, Annabeth would be mad at him, and he'd take being accused of a prank he didn't do over an angry Annabeth any day.

As dinner was served, he couldn't help but feel a little angry at the fact that everyone thought he was the prankster. Sure, he pulled pranks, but none like this. He knew how seriously Will took his archery lessons, he would never do anything to get in the way of that. It'd be like if someone came and replaced all the training swords with balloon swords before one of Percy's sword-fighting lessons.

"Ah, don't worry about it too much." Annabeth said, "Will doesn't hold grudges. He'll probably be over it in a few days."

"I hope you're right." Percy said.
