"I have a girlfriend! She lives in Wakanda."
I guess; "My girlfriend in Wakanda" is the new "My girlfriend who lives in Canada." Michelle Jones had become convinced her roommate, Riri Willaims, was lying about her relationship status. She would say that to anyone if anyone asked Riri about her relationship or if she was getting hit on.
"I'm going to catch her in her lie," Michelle said.
"Why do you care so much?" Ned asked. The two of them sat in the MIT library. They were supposed to be studying, but they both felt good about their upcoming test.
"Because I want to know why she was lying about that," Michelle said. "We're not in high school anymore. People don't feel the need to lie about that as much anymore, and she's deep into this lie. She's supposedly meeting her tomorrow. Riri Willaims has a secret, and I will figure it out."
"Maybe she's just insecure about being single," Ned said with a shrug.
"I doubt it," Michelle responded. "It's not like she doesn't have options if she wants a relationship. I'm going to come to the bottom of Riri's secret."
The next day after classes, Michelle took a spot in the courtyard. Blending into the background wasn't hard. Michelle often chooses to blend into the backdrop. She preferred to stay on the sidelines.
Riri soon emerged from the building. She was wearing something fancy. It was a short pink dress. That confused the crap out of Michelle, causing her to furrow her eyebrows. Where could she be going where she needs to get dressed like that?
Someone tapped on her shoulder. She turned around, spotting Ned. "I thought you didn't care," Michelle said.
"Well, if you get caught by drug dealers or something like that, you need backup," Ned responded. "If she has a secret, and she's gone far to keep it up, it's probably a big one. It could be dangerous."
"She's moving," Michelle said. Riri was starting to the back of the building.
"You're looking like a stalker," Ned muttered. The two of them followed Riri to the back of the building. They kept their distance. A purple sports car was waiting for her. The person who emerged shocked the two friends.
Princess Shuri of Wakanda was the one who left the car. "Hey, Usana," she said. She kissed Riri, a gesture that Riri quickly returned. Michelle's jaw was on the floor, and Ned had a blank look of shock.
"How'd you manage to ditch Ayo?" Riri asked.
"She's here but hidden in the shadows," Shuri explained. "Sorry, I've been meaning to come around sooner. However, we're still dealing with the aftermath of Namor. I needed to be there for all meetings as the Black Panther."
"It's okay," Riri responded. "I knew what I was getting into when I started dating a member of the Wakanden royal family. Should we go? I have a few places I want to show you."
"Let's go," Shuri said. They climbed into the princess's car. They sped away from the college campus.
"No freaking way," Michelle muttered.
"We can't tell anyone," Ned said.
"Oh yeah," Michelle said. "We'd probably put a mark on Riri's head. This secret stays with us."
