"Have you figured out his identity yet?" Fury asked Tony Stark on the phone. Tony went back to what he was working on in his lab, only paying slight attention to what Fury was saying.
Tony was not having the best day. Pepper and Happy were refusing to talk to him. It may have been Tony's fault that the Iron Man suit crashed into the car trying to attach to his person, but he'd like to remind everyone that there were no injuries. Even though all three of them were in the car at the time. Plus, it was his dad's Cadillac. Tony had a lot of complicated feelings about his dad, but very few of them were good.
"No," Tony sighed into the phone.
"Well get on it! I want Spider-Man handled. Have you made contact since Germany?" Fury asked, annoyed.
Tony laughed a little. "That was what, a full year ago? Yes, I've talked to Spider-Man since then." Tony said.
"Okay, but you don't have his identity yet?" Fury clarified.
"No, and honestly, I'm not trying to track him down. He's got a good thing going in Queens and is always happy to help if I meet up with him." Tony said.
"You understand that we can't just have people who are enhanced running around willy-nilly in masks, right? We need to know who they are, what they want, and if they're willing to defend the Earth in a crisis." Fury said.
"Fury, I don't know what you want from me. Yes, I'm Iron Man and I'm a genius, but I'm not in the habit of chasing down Superheroes for SHIELD. Why don't you get Natalie on it?" Tony purposely dropped in Natasha's fake name as a dig at Fury.
"You're ridiculous," Fury said and then hung up.
"FRIDAY, do you know who Spider-Man is?" Tony asked his AI.
"The search for Spider-Man's identity is ongoing." FRIDAY chimed.
"Okay, keep that running in the background," Tony said.
"Will do, boss," FRIDAY said.
The Avengers had unintentionally crossed over into Queens with their latest fight. As Thor was off-world, Tony, Steve, Clint, Natasha, Wanda, Bucky, and Vision were battling against a series of rogue aliens who had crashed into Brooklyn and were heading North.
After an hour, Spider-Man showed up. He immediately jumped into the fray and helped round up the aliens. They weren't hard to defeat, there was just an excessive amount of them that had made it to Earth. Tony had already worked with Steve to find the source of their entry to the planet and shut down the portal. However, it was a little like shutting the barn gate after the horse had bolted. All the aliens were already on Earth.
Four hours later, Spider-Man looked around and realized they had taken down the last one.
"So, what are you all up to after this?" Spider-Man asked as if they hadn't just had a grueling hours-long battle even before he jumped in.
"We'll probably head back to the tower to eat and then crash - want to come?" Tony asked, expecting the customary decline from Spider-Man.
"For sure, I got nothing better to do," Spider-Man said. Everyone perked up. It's not that Spider-Man wasn't friendly with the team. It's just that he was never around when they were hanging out. He would show up for a fight and then disappear. This was different.
"Race you!" Spider-Man said and booked it. He started out running and then used his web-shooters to start hopping from building to building.
Bucky and Steve looked at each other and grinned. They took off running.
Wanda walked over to Vision, and they flew back to the tower together.
"Don't even think about it," Natasha said to Tony, as he started walking toward her.
"But you and Clint don't have any way to get there. It would probably take you two hours just to get back on the subway." Tony complained.
"I'll take a ride with Iron Man!" Clint called out. Tony turned to him with a smile.
"Yes! That's the energy I'm looking for!" Tony said, raising his hand for a high-five. Clint didn't leave him hanging.
"Can you even take both of us?" Natasha asked.
"I'm insulted that you even had to ask. Grab an arm - we'll definitely beat Bucky and Steve, but Spider-Man might have too much of a head start." Tony said.
"They still have to cross the East River," Clint said. Natasha scoffed.
"I'm sure they've figured out a workaround," Natasha said.
"Let's go!" Tony took off with a super spy attached to each arm.
Spider-Man won. But he didn't want to rub it in their faces, so he went to grab a bunch of pizzas. By the time he got back, everyone was in the tower. He could tell they started to look bummed that he wasn't there. When he walked in, everyone looked up and smiled.
"Spider-Man! You made it! And you brought pizza! You're my favorite Avenger." Tony said.
"Yeah, right. We all know that Bruce is your favorite Avenger." Spider-Man said. He set the pizzas down on the kitchen island and started opening cabinets to find the plates. He got it right in two guesses.
"Who is hungry?" Spider-Man said, setting the plates next to the first open pizza box. Grabbing five slices for himself, he plopped down on the sofa.
"Everyone," Steve said, as he walked over to fill up a plate as well.
Peter didn't hesitate, he took off his entire mask and dug in. There was silence.
"What's going on?" Peter asked.
"You took your mask off!" Bucky said. "Right on! Now, who are you? And you're much younger than I was expecting. What are you 20?"
"Well, I figured you guys wouldn't recognize me, so my identity is safe. Also, I'm old enough. Now, grab some pizza and dig in." Peter said, finishing up his third slice.
It took a moment, but everyone got a few slices and migrated over to the couch.
"Alright, kid. FRIDAY, who is Spider-Man?" Tony asked. Peter just smirked.
"Scanning, scanning, scanning, no results. The search for Spider-Man's identity is ongoing." FRIDAY said.
"What? He's right there. FRIDAY, how are there no results?" Tony asked.
"Boss, I've scanned his face, and run it through my system. No matches at present. I'll use this information to cross-reference future data, but for now, the search for Spider-Man's identity is ongoing." FRIDAY said.
"What did you expect to know about every person in this city? That's impossible. I'm not concerned with my identity getting out." Peter said and got up to grab some extra slices of pizza.

A/N - Okay, so I had the last scene stuck in my mind. But I couldn't help myself and ended up writing a bunch of extras. Hope anyone who made it this far enjoyed it!
