(TV Station)

While they were inside, they all saw a bunch of people that were called Scars by the WLF's. They saw them strung up by their necks, their stomachs cut open.

Tommy definitely hadn't done this and neither had Enid. After killing some more of the WLF's, the trio find the room that Leah was in.

They find that Leah had been shot to death by arrows in her chest.

"Guys, look, it's Leah," Enid said, walking over Leah's corpse.

"Yeah, that's her," Ellie replied. "You guys sure?" Dina asked.

"Yeah," Ellie answered for both of them. "Guess the universe really wanted her dead, huh? There's nothing on her," Dina said, searching through Leah's stuff.

"Six, this is Two, do you copy? Six, acknowledge, over," a male voice from a radio in the room said.

It grabbed Ellie and Enid's attention. "Dina," Ellie said, walking over to the table that had the radio on it.

Enid stood beside Ellie as they looked on the table. She picked up a couple of pictures. "Look, it's all of them," Enid replied to them.

The pictures were of Abby's group members. They then see a map laying on the table.

"Look, this is near Jackson," Dina pointed out. Ellie and Enid looked at the pictures in disgust. All of them were smiling like they didn't have a care in the world.

"Look at their fucking smiles," Ellie growled. Enid became angry when she saw this. "Yeah, well, they won't be smiling when they see us before we kill them," Enid swore.

Ellie looked over at her. "We will find them," Ellie said to her estranged best friend.

Ellie them found a picture of Abby. "That's her. That's the one who killed him and the one that nearly killed her," Ellie said, referring to Enid.

"Three down, right?" Dina asked. "Three down," Ellie replied.

The radio repeated what it was saying before Enid turned it off. "Shit," Dina said.

"Yeah, let's get going," Ellie said. The three girls turned and left the room.

"Well, she's dead. How do you guys feel?" Dina asked.

"If I know Ellie, then I know she's pissed that we couldn't talk to Leah," Enid replied as they jumped down a few pieces of debris to get outside.

"Yeah, I am. She's knows me too well. Enid, I know you're pissed too," Ellie said, glancing at her.

"You're right on that one. If Leah was still alive, she would've had answers to where Abby is," Enid replied.

"Yeah, but she didn't hurt Joel. It would've been pretty fucked up to make her talk," Dina tells them, seeing that this wouldn't have been right.

"She traveled hundreds of miles to torture Joel and Enid. I don't care whether she held the club or not," Ellie said bitterly.

Enid looked away with a heavy sigh, not wanting to be reminded of that.

"Yeah, I get it," Dina said. You guys want to find somewhere to hole up? Look over Leah's stuff?" Ellie suggested.

"Yeah, wouldn't hurt any. Besides, if we can find some food, I'm down to actually having a good meal," Enid agreed.

Ellie and Enid jumped down to the lower level.

"Yeah, let's head deeper downtown. We can find a building to secure," Dina said, jumping down with them.

"Keep your eyes open!" a WLF soldier shouted in the distance.

"Oh, shit, get down," Enid whispered, crouching behind the wall with Ellie and Dina.

The WLF soldiers had seen what the Scars did to their guys.

The girls snuck back inside the building as the soldiers were talking.

"They're all dead! Fucking Scars killed 'em!" another one shouted.

"Spread out. We could still have Scars in the building. Watch each other!" the leader WLF patrol ordered, "Someone get to the radio and call this in, now,"

"How're we getting out of here?" Dina whispered. "On me," Ellie said.

"Watch your six, you guys. Have each other's back," Enid tells them in a hushed voice.

They all listened to what the soldiers were saying. They were below the trio.

Ellie and Enid hopped over the window sill to get inside.

They sneak their way over to a short wall that kept them hidden.

Dina came behind them. Enid peeked over carefully to see where they were.

One came came up the stairs. "Ellie," Enid whispered. Ellie nodded and threw a nail bomb at him, blowing him to pieces.

Going back outside, there were a couple of more soldiers. Ellie and Enid hopped over the phone.

Ellie used a hatchet to kill one of them while Enid used her knife to stab the other in the neck.

More showed up, after they were alerted by the those two soldiers.

They raised up and started to open fire at them.

"Alright, let's go," Enid said, raising up. They made their way inside but only for more of those WLF's to see them from the first floor

"Oh, shit!" one shouted, starting to shoot at the trio.

"Ellie, Enid, c'mon!" Dina shouted, running out of their path. Ellie and Enid follow suit behind her in a sprint.

Dina stood by an open foilage-covered window that they could jump through.

"Guys, through this window!" Dina called out. They all jumped out of the window as the WLF's were still shooting at them.

"Go, go, go!" Enid shouted, jumping down two ledges.

After they made it to the lower level, they sprinted through a highway that was broken.

"Oh fuck! Dina, Enid, we gotta run!" Ellie shouted as she sprinted. "Trespassers! Over there!" another WLF soldier shouted.

"Are they with the Scars?" a Female soldier asked. "I don't fucking know, just shoot 'em!" the other WLF shouted.

The trio kept running until they found a doorway underneath the bridge. They sprinted through the door just as the soldiers were coming.

Ellie tried moving it on her own, but it was really heavy. "Dina, cover us!" Enid shouted, helping Ellie push the vending machine over to block the doorway.

(Subway)

When it was covered, they stepped back from the door.

"Alright," Ellie said while panting, "Thanks for the help,"

"Anytime, El. Those fuckers won't get through that," Enid said, reloading her gun.

"Yeah, it'll work for now. Keep going," Dina said to them. Turning on their flashlights, they saw that they were underground.

They had to put their masks on because there were spores ahead. Enid knew that Ellie is immune, but also knew that she couldn't tell Dina that she is.

Soon enough, there was infected inside this tunnel, especially one that neither one of them had seen before, which the WLF's call a Shambler.

Despite their large size, they were pretty easy to take down.

"Alright, we're almost out," Ellie said. "Thank god, I need some fresh air," Enid replied.

"Alright, lead on," Dina told them. They start jogging up a subway train, however, it started to fall apart when Ellie walked to the end of it.

"Ellie!" Enid shouted, fallin over and rolling down the broken train. "Ellie! Enid!" Dina cried out as they fell.

Enid fell on her back right next to Ellie. Enid quickly got up and immediately went to help Ellie.

"Ellie, are you okay?" Enid asked in a panic. "Yeah, yeah, I'm- Look out!" Ellie shouted, seeing a runner coming from the darkness.

Enid barely had time to react before the runner jumped on top of her.

"No, no, no!" Enid shouted, feeling the runner tackle her to the floor.

Enid started to fight to keep the infected off of her. "Get off!" she shouted.

Ellie didn't hesite to pull the runner off of her friend and and she stabbed it in the head.

Ellie helped Enid to her feet. "You okay?" she asked her. "Yeah, thanks for the save," Enid said.

Dina made it down to where Ellie and Enid were. She looked down at the dead runner before looking up at Ellie, her eyes going big.

"Ellie, your mask!" she shouted. Enid looked up at Ellie when Dina said that and for sure, Ellie's mask was broken.

"Oh shit," she muttered in shock. "Here, we can share mine or Enid's," Dina said, starting to take her mask off.

In an instant, Ellie grabbed Dina by the shoulders. "No, no, no!" Ellie shouted. "No, don't do that!" Enid shouted with her.

Dina struggled to get her mask off, but neither Ellie or Enid were going to let her.

Enid looked over at Ellie, who took her mask off. This made Dina freak out.

"No, Ellie, no!!" Dina screamed, jumping at her. Ellie pushed Dina back against the wall.

"Stop! I'm not infected!" Ellie shouted. "Dina, she's immune! Do you see her coughing?!" Enid roared, revealing that Ellie was immune to the infection.

Dina couldn't say anything; She was in shock by this reveal.

Neither of them could get a word out before they all heard more infected running down the next tunnel, their shadows on the lit tunnel walls.

"Guys, we gotta fucking go!" Enid exclaimed, backing away from Dina, heart pounding in her ears.

"Oh shit... Dina, can you run?" Ellie asked. "Y-Yeah, yes," Dina replied.

"Let's fucking go! GO!" Ellie shouted, pushing Dina along. They started to sprint towards a broken down escalator as fast as they could.

"Go!" Enid shouted, stabbing a runner as it tried to grab Dina. The infected's growling and screaming were getting louder and louder, making the girls panic even more.

Going up a second flight of stairs, Ellie was tackled to the ground by a clicker.

"Ellie!" Enid shouted, going back to help, "Get the fuck off her!" She pulled the clicker off and shot it then kicked it down the stairs.

"Go! Run!" Enid shouted, helping Ellie to her feet. They sprinted down more of the subway, the infected right behind them.

They kept going and made a right turn, seeing a gate.

After climbing the gate, Ellie fell over. "Ellie, get up!" Enid shouted, helping her up just as a runner made it's way over. The infected broke through the gate.

There was a revolving gate just up ahead, showing them the way out.

They pushed passed the revolving gate, but Ellie got grabbed as she got out. "Ellie!" Enid shouted, going to help her.

She pulled out her pistol and shot the infected that had a hold of her.

When the infected released her, Ellie stumbled forward into Enid's arms.

To their luck, the revolving gate was strong enough to hold the abundant infected back.

They backed away from the gate, breathing heavily. "You okay?" Enid asked. Ellie glanced over at her for a second. "Y-Yeah. Thanks," Ellie replied with a nod.

They weren't out of the woods yet though. They both hear Dina groaning behind them.

Dina had collapsed to the ground, unable to hold herself up. "Dina!" Ellie cried out, picking Dina up and throwing her arm over her shoulders.

There was a theater up ahead, that could be a place they could rest up for the time being.

"Hey, there's a theater over there. Let's go rest in there," Enid suggested.

"Yeah, sounds good to me," Dina said with a tired grin. "Yeah, good looking out. Watch our backs," Ellie said as she helped Dina.

"You got it," Enid said, holding her gun out, just in case they were to get ambushed.

(The Theater)

They make it to the theater in one piece. "Here, let me get the front door," Enid said, using her shoulder to push whatever was blocking the door out of the way.

It was dark inside, so they turned on their flashlights. "C'mon," Enid said, making sure Ellie and Dina got inside.

Enid closed the door, putting a chair in the door to keep it from opening.

"Okay... I'm gonna go scout the place so we know we're alone. You two rest up," Enid said.

"Okay... be careful," Ellie told her. "You know I am, El," Enid replied. She then turned around and she jogged towards a staircase. Of course, she had to turn on her flashlight.

Ellie watched Enid go up the stairs and out of sight, leaving her and Dina alone.

Dina sat down on the couch, trying to figure out all that happened.

"You want to tell me what's going on with you?" Ellie asked her.

"Wha-What's going on with me? Ellie... I saw you breathe spores. Hell, Enid saw it too," Dina said in shock.

"We told you. I'm immune," Ellie said, struggling to find the right thing to say.

"Okay, you're immune?" Dina said in disbelief, obviously not believing her.

Ellie waited a minute before she started to explain herself.

"I was bitten a long time ago..." Ellie started. "What the fuck are you talking about?" Dina scoffed.

"Look, I was bitten and nothing happened. Enid was with me when it happened. She didn't want to believe it either," Ellie explained.

They were quiet for a minute. Dina's eyes drifted towards Ellie's arm before looking back up at her.

"The chemical burn..." Dina quietly said.

Ellie looked down and twiddled her thumbs nervously. "Maria and Tommy... Enid, and Joel are the only ones who know... Knew... Now you know," Ellie sighed, looking down again, "I can't... get you infected, if that's what you're worried about. I can't make you immune either,"

Silence again. Ellie walked around the couch, still looking down.

"Ellie... I... I think I'm pregnant," Dina said, having a hand on her abdomen. Ellie stared at her in shock, swearing she felt a knot in her stomach.

"What?" she asked in shock. Dina then cracked a grin and said, "Don't worry, it's not yours,"

"Wh-What are we su-- What are we supposed to do?" Ellie asked, stumbling around a bit.

"Nothing. I just need to rest a bit," Dina said. Ellie couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Are you fucking kidding me... How long have you known?" Ellie sighed in disbelief.

"I was late a few weeks ago," Dina replied. "What? A few weeks? We could've... We could've still turned back!" Ellie exclaimed, eyes widened.

"I didn't know! I wasn't sure, okay? I didn't want to be a burden--" Dina stuttered.

"Well, you're a burden now, aren't you?" Ellie blurted out. Dina was stunned that Ellie said that.

Ellie didn't mean to say that and the look on her face showed it.

"I'm gonna... I'm gonna go check on Enid," Ellie said, "You just rest,"

Ellie turned away from Dina to go find Enid. She couldn't fathom how Dina kept her pregnancy a secret. Even she knew that Enid wasn't that secretive.

Well, until five years ago that was. She made her way upstairs where she saw that the door to the theater part was open.

"If I ever were to lose you, I'd surely lose myself…" Enid quietly sang, her fingers brushed along the strings of the guitar she found in that part of the theater with the seats and stage.

Ellie wanted to tell Enid about Dina being pregnant.

Just seeing this made her forget all the shit that they're going through just to find Abby; she just wanted to spend a few minutes with Enid.

At first, Enid didn't see Ellie walk up to her. She rested her chin atop her hand, which was on the guitar. She seemed to be lost in thought.

Then, Enid's eyes darted in Ellie's direction. "Oh, Ellie. Didn't hear you come in." Enid said, sitting up with the guitar in her lap still.

"With the way you were sulking, can't say I'm surprised," Ellie said, standing next to her.

Enid's eyes drifted to the weathered looking guitar. "You heard me playing?" Enid asked her quietly.

"Yeah. As I was coming in. I heard you singing also." Ellie replied with a smirk.

Enid sighed at this and her eyes dropped. Both girls remembered when Joel sang them that song a few years back.

It was a small but fond memory that they shared.

"Before we get too deep into this, I scouted the building out. We're the only ones here, at least for now. How's Dina?" Enid said, rubbing her arm.

Ellie sat down next to Enid. "She... She's fucking pregnant, Enid. She said she's a few weeks," Ellie replied.

"What? She should've told you, Ellie. At least you were open with her about your immunity," Enid said, patting the guitar as it sat in her lap.

"Yeah. I had a feeling you overheard us," Ellie replied. Enid grinned a bit. "You know me too well," she replied.

For a moment, the duo remained quiet, an uncomfortable silence filled the empty theater.

"Ellie? I know you can be honest with me. I know you're probably pissed that I took off like that, even after I promised that I wouldn't leave you again. You're still not over me when I went to the Firefly's," Enid said, setting the guitar down on the floor, letting it lean against the foldled seats.

"Yeah, you're right. I was. Guess we fell apart didn't we?" Ellie asked her.

"Yeah... we did. Besides, you and Dina... I could tell that you two had a thing for one another. I don't want to get in the way of you two. If she makes you happy, then that's what makes me happy," Enid explained with a grin, feeling a pang of heartbreak in her chest.

Ellie grinned a bit. "Thanks, E. I appreciate it. Heh. Best friends til the end, huh?" she asked.

"You know it and I'll never let you forget it. I hope that hasn't changed since we first met. Man, that feels like a lifetime ago, huh?" Enid said with a genuine smile.

"Yeah, it does. Never thought this is what we'd be doing when we grew up, huh?" Ellie asked with a soft chuckle.

Enid chuckled too, then looked at the guitar.

"Hey, you wanna play it?" she asked.

Ellie waited a moment before replying, "Sure,"

Enid handed her the guitar and awaited for what her best friend would play.

Ellie held the guitar gently in her lap, adjusting the tuning pegs to what she felt necessary.

She started strumming the guitar softly before she started to sing a song that was very familiar.

Hey, show me one man that's never made mistakes...

And I'll pay

All of my time and every dime I've made...

But today

The best of intentions I lay at your feet

And I need you to see past the worst part of me...

I'm tired of taking my aim, when I keep on missin'...

There's gotta be a better way... Gotta be a better way...

And every little word I say keeps getting twisted...

I'm coming out wrong, so baby hold on...

I'm trying to hit the mark but I'm shootin' with broken arrows...

No, I may not be a saint, but I've got a heart of gold...

Enid felt tears in her eyse as she heard Ellie sing this familiar song. She hadn't heard it in such a long time. "Holy shit, I remember that song," Enid said, sighing in nostalgia.

"Yeah… last time you heard it is when it was on that tape I had made when it was my birthday… Man, I couldn't tell you how much I loved it," Ellie replied, her arm resting on the guitar.

Both of them remembered what birthday that Enid said about. Oh, how they wished that it never ended.

Fun Fact: This wasn't the song I was going to use for this story. The song I wanted to use orignially was Wherever You Go by The Calling. But I decided to switch it to Broken Arrows by Daughtry.

For some reason, that song resonated with me and I had to use it for this. Let me know what you guys think about this.
