TW: gruesome details

Alice puts her clothes back on and disposes of the gown. On the way out of the office, she declares, "I could go for a milkshake right now."

FP happily agrees and they both head to Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe. Swinging the door open, Pop Tate congratulates them, "Hey! Congratulations you two! I heard y'alls is expecting."

Alice breaks out into a smile, "We are. Thank you, Pop."

Pop slings a dishtowel over his shoulder as FP and Alice sit at the bar, "How about some milkshakes on the house?"

Before Alice can agree, FP looks at her, "Alice…" She turns to look at him, "What if we give Pop the paper and he makes milkshakes based on them."

Alice gets extremely excited and turns to Pop Tate, "Oh, Pop! That would be amazing if you could. Could you do that?"

He smiles and takes the sealed envelope, "How could I not?"

Alice cheers as FP puts his arm around her shoulders. He lightly kisses her neck and whispers, "We got this."

Alice turns to him, "I think we do." She grins as she leans in to kiss him. Resting her arms on his shoulders, FP returns the kiss. They break apart when Alice asks, "What do you want?"

FP furrows his brow and repeats, "What do I want?"

"Or what do you think they are?" Alice puts her hands on his knees, "This one feels different than Betty's and Polly's so I'm saying 2 boys."

FP cracks a grin and points to her small yet noticeable bump, "Do you think this feels different because there are two in there?" FP guesses, "I'm going to say one of each. A boy and a girl."

Alice says, "We'll see, won't we."

As she says that Pop Tate announces from the kitchen, "I ain't wanna see no peeking. Close your eyes until I tell you to open 'em." Alice swivels her stool to face forward but reaches to hold FP's hand. Pop Tate places the two milkshakes down. One in front of each person. He states, "Now one of y'all guessed correctly, but I don't wanna see any fighting." Alice and FP grin widely. "Alright. Open your eyes," Pop shows off his creations with a giant smile.

In front of Alice sits a blue milkshake topped with whipped cream and blue sprinkles. Alice cheers and looks at FP's milkshake. In front of FP is a berry pink milkshake with whipped cream and a cherry sitting on top. FP exclaims, "Hey! I got it!"

Alice leans in for a quick kiss. Pop explains the milkshakes in front of them, "In front of m'lady Alice is a blue vanilla milkshake topped with heavy whipped cream and the only sprinkles I had in the kitchen." As Pop introduces FP's milkshake Alice picks off his cherry and pops it in her mouth, "In front of the gentleman is a strawberry milkshake also with heavy whipped cream. There was a maraschino cherry on top." Pop Tate looks at Alice who is tying the stem into a knot as he speaks.

FP rubs her back lovingly, "It's alright Pop. I'm not a fan of cherries. She always takes them."

Pop Tate grins, "Congrats. To the both of y'all." Alice grins as FP sticks his finger in the whipped cream on her milkshake and blobs it on her nose.

That day created a tradition throughout the pregnancy. After each appointment, the two of them would visit Pops for a blue vanilla and a strawberry milkshake. This appointment did not fail to make it Pops despite the downpouring rain. Jellybean had been saying all day how it was meant to rain as it was Friday the 13th (her favorite day). The beautiful and sunny September weather in Riverdale had turned to dreary and frigid rain. At Pop Tate's Alice finds her usual booth and slides in with FP, "I guess JB was right about this weather."

FP chuckles, "JB's always right." They both stare out the window at the rain. FP remembers, "I forgot that this is week 33. Seems like almost yesterday you told me we were in this little mess."

"I mean technically 1 day into week 33, but who's counting…" Alice places her hand gently on the top of her belly and rubs back and forth. Her free hand on the table is taken by FP. She focuses her attention on him and grins. Pop comes over and places the milkshakes down. He is blabbing but all she can focus on is FP and his big brown eyes. She mouths, 'I love you.' FP squeezes her hand and smiles.

They slurped to the very end of their milkshakes and were on their way. Alice decided that she was going to drive because she didn't want to be jostled around by FP's quick lane changes. Alice tried her hardest to buckle herself in but realized it was impossible because of her growing bump. Halfway to the house, the car begins to hydroplane on a turn. As quickly as it began, it ended. FP was the first to gain consciousness. Drowsy, he looks to the left to see an empty seat. FP depuffs the airbags to find Alice on the ground outside the car. The buckle was stuck in the seat. He reaches for his pocket knife and cuts his way out. He can hear sirens in the distance. Walking wobbly, he falls down next to Alice who is still unconscious. He pushes her shoulder back and forth, "Alice… Alice… Wake up… Come on… Wake up…" The sirens stop above the embankment. FP continues to shake Alice harder and harder each time, "Alice wake up! Wake… up!" FP begins to feel more sleepy.

An EMS medic comes down with 2 stretchers. Another medic follows behind. FP fades in and out but the only thing he can say is, "33 and a day… 33 and a day…" The medic attending turns Alice over and pieces together that she is 33 weeks and 1 day along. FP is lifted on the stretcher causing the protruding bone from his leg to shift. Before being rolled up the hill he exclaims above his pain, "2!... There's 2!"

The medic using the on-scene ultrasound nods his head and sees two fetuses in her belly. Soon after FP is taken away, Alice is then lifted. With the lift Alice regains slight consciousness, "FP…" She keeps calling out, "FP…"

"He was just taken away," the medic asserts. An oxygen mask is put on her and she is sent to Riverdale General Hospital with FP.

Since FP's phone was destroyed and Alice's phone was not found, they were unable to contact Betty, Jughead, and Jellybean. FP was taken into surgery to stabilize his protruding leg fracture and Alice was taken into surgery for internal bleeding and a craniectomy to relieve brain pressure against the skull. FP was the first out of surgery and to wake up, "Where is she?" He looks around frantically and tries to wiggle out of the leg hammock, "Where is Alice? What's going on?"

A nurse comes rushing in, "Mr. Jones please calm down. You were in an accident." While he is still struggling the nurse explains further, "Your wife just got out of surgery. Please, Mr. Jones, I need you to stop moving." He calms down a bit after finding out she is okay and is pleased by the sound of 'wife.' "I can have someone take you to see her and your babies, but please try to relax."

"My- my babies?" FP struggles to comprehend.

"The doctors performed an emergency c-section. The babies are healthy and strong. All I know is that they have to spend some time in the NICU," The nurse lowers the bed rails. She brings the wheelchair from next to his bed closer, "As for you, you have 3 pins and 5 screws holding your leg together. He looks at his casted leg. The young nurse helps him into the wheelchair and brings him up to the ICU. He is wheeled next to Alice's sleeping body. The bandage on her head, a tube coming out of her mouth, and a slightly flattened abdomen confuse him. The nurse locks the wheelchair in place, "She is there. You can talk to her if you would like."

FP reaches for her hand and starts to tear up, "Alice. Alice, I know you're there. I can see it in you." He squeezes her hand more, "You had them. The babies are here and you need to meet them. You need to hold them." He lets go of her hand to dig around in his bag of stuff that the nurse gave him. He pulls out an engagement ring and places it on Alice's finger, "I love you, Alice Smith. You need to stay with me. Please, Alice, please stay."

And soon enough her finger twitches. She tries to find his hand next to her. She opens her eyes and reaches for the breathing tube. She groans in discomfort looking at FP. He wheels to the door and yells, "Someone get in here!"
