When Noctis left school for the day he saw Ignis waiting for him which while normal, didn't necessarily mean anything was ordinary because of the fact that Ignis was wearing his weapon openly and was also wearing a very specific uniform that day

"What's up?"

"Your father wants to speak with you"

"Understood"

The two head to the Citadel where he's told that his father was in the throne room, and thus he headed there and saw that there was another person there as well, but he wasn't concerned about said person, this was because the person Noctis saw was a Crownsguard that hardly left his father's side as far as he knew, but there was little else known about her except that she was strong. She had abilities not linked to Regis or the crystal though it wasn't understood how that was possible. What was known was that she had just popped up mysteriously one day and due to being thought of as a threat had been initially imprisoned in the lower cells at the Citadel but had eventually proven trustworthy enough to walk around his home with a guard. Then one day everything changed and she was sworn in as a member of the Guard through the simple fact that she had saved Regis' life from assassination, the person who had gotten through all the security had managed to get a deadly poison in his fathers drink and was also armed as extra insurance. The person was there as well since she had to be near a Guard member at all times and that day was Cor's turn, she first suddenly knocked the drink away from the king's hand, which confused everyone and then without notice pushed the king down just in time because a huge sword was heading in their direction, but didn't hit either of them, instead the sword his a barrier of some sort. Once the prisoner was contained and the person conscious (she had passed out shortly after seeing the prisoner cuffed) she was initiated into the Guard without passing any of the standard tests, then again she actually hadn't needed the tests because they could tell that she was deadly somehow, and later regular training proved that she could fight, even without her mysterious abilities she was well trained in a variety of weapons

"Noctis your request regarding a trip to the wall has been approved, Destiny will be going with you as guard"

"I have a question dad, does she have complete control over her abilities now?"

Regis simply looked to her and nodded in a way that let her know she could speak freely

"To a degree yes your highness, I unfortunately do not have the amount of control any of us would like in some aspects however I don't think what you are talking about when you say control and what I'm talking about when I say control are the same thing"

"Are you dangerous to anyone?"

"No, not entirely"

"Explain"

"I make things explode occasionally, exploding things equal shrapnel and I can't exactly control where shrapnel goes"

"Fair enough, now then what are you talking about when you mean control?"

The person sighs

"If I'm in battle and use my abilities they can sometimes stray unintentionally, though anyone I mentally declare as allies before the battle and sometimes during if that occurred will not be hit, I also have to always say which of my abilities I am using to use them to full effectiveness unlike before I arrived where some things I did I only had to think of doing and I could do them effortlessly and effectively. I am going to tell everyone here and now that when I first arrived I was lucky that I could save the King's life, if things had gone differently...you would be King at the moment your highness and a grand funeral would have been held for King Regis and I might have been afforded a small ceremony in recognition of my attempts, though I doubt it since I was still an unknown at the time"

Clarus speaks up

"You would have been given an honorable funeral, even if the group would have been smaller than what the King would have had you would have been given a soldier's funeral, and we would never and are going to never stop trying to contact your original universe and let them know what you did if you had died"

"Thank you for that assurance Lord Amicitia I think..."

Suddenly though Destiny stops and summons her sword without speaking and everyone tenses up at that having learned early on that her doing that was not a good sign

"What's wrong?"

"My Lords, I don't presume to give you orders but everyone needs to stay back, this is my fight, against my enemy...well okay my family's enemy but still you will not survive this fight if you try and go up against them, how they even got here is beyond me"

And suddenly Destiny charges out of the room and everyone follows her to a point because suddenly they are blocked by a barrier and see the Guard member fighting a five faced...thing in their minds and she was succeeding in defeating said thing and while she didn't completely defeat it she did make it retreat and once she felt it was safe the barrier came down and the weapon disappeared and as soon as that happened the person then went down on her knees and was obviously breathing hard

"Two things, are you okay and just what was that thing you were fighting?"

"I'll be fine, this is another thing I mean when I say I don't have full control over my abilities, I shouldn't be drained this quickly, as for that thing I was fighting..." (sighs) "I'm afraid that's a long overdue explanation meant for private quarters"

That night after doing some explaining Destiny dreamed about the day they had arrived in Insomnia and a little bit afterwords two years earlier

Two years ago

Regis was meeting with his Glaives and Crownsguard in the main throne room about an issue that had recently popped up in the war against Nifelheim when suddenly a hole in the ceiling popped up and suddenly there was another person in the room, a stranger. As soon as the stranger realized that they weren't alone they raised their hand and mysteriously enough a weapon of some sort started to materialize before it disappeared before being fully formed. When that happened everyone froze, but what wasn't noticed until almost too late was that the stranger had gone for the pockets on their thighs and had thrown five knives which would have seriously hurt or killed the Marshal if not for Glaive Ulrics quick warp where he caught three of the blades with his hands and two were caught in the shoulder, though the mystery person hadn't even stayed conscious long enough to know if they had succeeded in their goal or not, suddenly Regis speaks up

"ENOUGH! I want that person under custody in the cells until they can answer questions, also let a doctor see to them while they're unconscious so that we know if they're hurt and need medical attention at the moment or not"

The stranger would be unconscious for two days but when they woke up they willingly spoke with the King, Marshal and Shield, though what was discussed was known only to those four. All anyone else knew was that the stranger would be allowed minimum freedom to stretch and exercise regularly under guard and be given the opportunity to gain the right to walk around the citadel under guard. The day she was in a meeting because Cor the Marshal was needed she knew that the person that entered was a regular, however she sensed something was off, though what it was she wasn't sure. Suddenly her eyes focused on the drink and she out of everyone realized that the color was wrong and as such she suddenly rushed forward and not even thinking about the fact that Regis was holding the drink and she knocked it out violently and then pushed him down while barely whispering two words that Regis and Regis alone heard

"Arranyan shields"

Regis expected the sword that was suddenly heading towards them to hit but instead there was a barrier around him and his savior that Regis knew he hadn't created. Once the would be assassin was pulled off his savior got off him and turned to face the assassin and saw them arrested, but before Regis could ask the person what had just happened they passed out, with Regis being the person to catch her before she hit the floor

"I think once they're awake they have some questions to answer, but I also think they should be initiated into the Guard, provisionally for the moment, but make it permanent should they prove themselves"

"Agreed"

Once awake their guest learned that they were now Crownsguard provisionally for the moment, but they soon proved themselves worthy of being a Guard member, and that they could fight pretty well once they weren't restricted by physical or mentally agreed on barriers, though everyone was wondering if the person would ever show the same abilities as when they had first arrived in regards to suddenly making a weapon appear, not knowing that the person and Regis had discussed in private what had happened the day they had saved his life and the words he'd overheard, and Regis was watching the training that day and remembered what had happened the day before when they'd discussed this very thing

Day before

"To be honest your Majesty that was an unexpected, if welcomed surprise, I...okay I need to go back a bit to explain something, where I come from, my dimension, my world has a protection force called the EDC, which stands for Earth Defense Command, my adoptive parents are part of the EDC, though I don't think I'll tell you how at the moment. My birth parents were also part of the EDC, and were off world when mom became pregnant with me, the planet they were visiting was a friendly planet and we were in the midst of trade negotiations which my birth parents were part of for...reasons that were never really explained to me actually. The water is generally safe so long as you don't have an allergy to both iodine since there's a little bit of salt naturally in the water and it's iodized, and also red food coloring since the water's also naturally red, but has the chemical for red food coloring for some reason" (shrugs) "in any case as I said my mom became pregnant while on the planet and though we didn't know it until I was five it's the water that grants the people their abilities. Due to the fact that I was exposed to the water while in my mom's womb I too would be born with those powers though they wouldn't emerge until I was five, long after I was adopted since my birth parents were killed when I was only two months old, and when I came here for whatever reason I lost my powers that I grew up with since I was five, it's...it's not a pleasant sensation in my mind let me tell you"

"You were desperate, you didn't think you could actually activate the shields that you called on but you felt you had to do something anyways"

"Yes sir, and I haven't been able to repeat that feat since that day either, and trust me I've tried, multiple times with multiple different abilities, including trying to summon a weapon like I tried to do so the day I wound up in your dimension"

"I see, then hopefully some day you'll regain that ability, but if not you're still a consummate fighter, by the way this came for you from Tenebrae, Lady Lunafreya gave me a letter telling me to give it to you, something about Gentiana telling her that a visitor from another dimension needed it"

"I see"

As soon she pulled out the object they could see that it was a necklace, two of them actually and they both glowed briefly, Regis saw his savior close their eyes for a long moment before they smiled slightly

"You okay?"

"Yes, I...I was just given much needed reassurance regarding my powers, they'll return to me in full over time, though I won't know when the process will begin until I feel a surge of power"

"And why two necklaces?"

"That's...not understood at the moment, I just feel it might be needed in the future"

"Then I won't ask any further, though I do urge you to make sure that the chains are short enough that they won't be a hindrance yet long enough that they can slip off your neck and onto someone else's if needed"

"Yes sir"

Things were going well when suddenly weapons were thrown at the wrong time and the speed was which where even Regis would be hard pressed to do anything, but suddenly Nyx Ulric was turned around after hearing or feeling something against his skin and when looking down at his arm, there were no wounds. Everyone was shocked and tried to figure out how that was possible when they looked towards the newest member in their training group they saw that she had her hand stretched out, but now that she being stared at she brought her hand back and just stared at it for a moment in pure and obvious shock before closing it into a fist and taking a deep breath before speaking up

"Everyone to the sides of the room, now, I'm going to try something and I don't want any unintended injuries"

Once everyone was on either side of the room she suddenly crossed their arms into an x with some of the fingers curled and some straight and held together and then she said words that they were unfamiliar with

"Arranyan winds!"

Everyone could feel the power that she had because her eyes had gone wide with horror due to the fact that the winds had strayed and headed towards the training members of Guard and Glaive, but fortunately in their minds no one was hurt, finally though Cor spoke up

"Kerenai?"

"I...I have them back, and...and my allies can't get hurt unintentionally"

Everyone could see tears in her eyes as she spoke and they realized that she was under too much emotional shock to truly explain things at the moment and when that was realized Cor spoke up

"Kerenai, do you need us to give you alone time in this room?"

"I...I...don't know, I..."

"Okay, Elshett and I only guys, Drautos get the therapist and send him down here"

"Right"

It would take a few hours but finally Destiny was over the shock for the most part and did some basic training with her powers under the watch of Cor

"You're shaky after using your abilities to an extent, but it seems like I never get hurt and can assume that's for everyone else you fight alongside with. I think I'll just set a specific time period for you to practice your abilities in private but I also want you practicing them with the rest of the group so that we can get used to it and develop signals"

"Understood sir"

"By the way, I need to know, do you normally get exhausted after a short time of using your powers?"

"No, this is new, but then again...it's been a while since I've used them and my connection feels...off so that might be part of the problem"

"We'll see as we go on then, by the way what did you use to protect Ulric?"

"Shields Marshal, I used my shields on him, it's what I used the day I saved King Regis' life, though I didn't know that my shields would work that day and honestly thought we were dead as soon as I saw the sword coming for us"

"You were desperate and did something that was instinct even though you knew it wouldn't work"

"Yes, but they did, however I didn't have access to my powers again until today, and again I was desperate and thought I would fail to protect Ulric"

"But you succeeded Destiny, he's alive and will be okay, shocked probably like everyone else but he'll pull through it in time"

"True, now then you mentioned something about training in private?"

"Yes, that will start tomorrow though"

"Understood"

Destiny suddenly woke up from her dream and go ready for a normal day, only for it to become different
