Roanoke, VA.
It was a quiet but solemn drive to the hotel from the burial ceremony for the Quantico unit. They'd just attended the funeral of Jason Gideon. It was hard for them to go through, let alone attend, seeing he was like a father figure to most of the members and an equal to some. They listened to the radio as the news reporter made a chilling announcement.
"Once known as The Nelson Sparrow Killer who terrorised Salem in the late 70s, Donald Malick may claimed a final victim. Virginia Authorities and FBI had established a link between him and the death of a retired federal agent Jason Gideon while a unnamed woman who was abducted by Mallick a few days after he killed Gideon before being rescued is expected to recover. Widely considered to be one of the founding fathers of Behavioural Analysis Unit of the FBI, Gideon was found dead late Tuesday inside his home in Roanoke, Virginia. The FBI released a statement... "
Even though they expected the obituary of their friend, it didn't make it easy to hear. It feels surreal as Rossi who was the designated driver, turned the radio off. JJ who sat next to Reid in the backseat with Morgan, glanced over to him who did his best not to be affected but it was no use. He was terrible of lying to the ones closest to him. Jason was the father figure he didn't know he got when he was recruited into the FBI by Gideon himself and helped him in many ways to come out of his shell which made his departure even more hurtful. He still reads the letter Gideon left behind from time to time.
"Hey Reid, what's the statistics of the average U.S .citizen that has dental fear?" Rossi asked. Normally het'd doesn't like hearing statistics but in this case, he'd make an exception. Just to take his mind off the news.
Reid was slightly startled by the question. "What?"
"Just humour me."
Reid cleared his throat to gather his thoughts. "Well, it's a well known fact that 75% of the general population in the United States alone are considered to have dental fear. There was a study that showed 9%..."
Unbeknownst to them, there was a bird, specifically a Nelson's Sparrow hovering above the SUV nearby before heading up to the heavens.
