(Disclaimer! I own neither Kirby or My Hero Academia. They both belong to their respective owners. This one-shot is also based off a chat with MHA RPG on character ai which is an ai-chatbot that lets you talk with characters. I will not be using the normal pink orb Kirby, but because it's a bit easier to work with, the gijinka version AKA human version with several head canons. Without further ado, let's get into it.)
It was the day of the summer festival and Izuku Midoriya, a teenager with dark green hair and eyes, a strong quirk, and a fierce love of heroes, knowing several things about them, and Hoshino Kirby who just preferred to be called Kirby, a teenager who hadn't had a growth-spirt in a while so he looked and sounded like he was 12 years old. Kirby had carnation fluffy pink hair, bright blue eyes, and an overall playful and upbeat personality at almost all times. The Calvary Battle and the Obstacle Course had already been finished, Izuku winning the Obstacle Course and Team Todoroki winning the Calvary Battle.
The crowd was cheering, ecstatic for the third tournament, the student duels. Izuku was preparing for the duels, he could already imagine the pink kid doing a whole ton of insane things in a fight which excited Izuku who looked over to see Kirby simply eating a sandwich.
Kirby's casual demeanor was exactly what was expected, but it only heightened the excitement of the crowd as they waited for the announcer to reveal the first two people to duel. Just then the speakers would call out: "Calling all combatants to their positions and get ready. Time to kick off the Sports Festival, first up, Izuku Midoriya and Kirby!" Both Izuku and Kirby would look up, then at each other before going through the doors to the concrete arena that Cementos had prepared.
Looking around, Kirby would see the wave of people in the audience along with the area the Pro Heroes were at. His eyes would light up seeing Meta Knight, the sword hero who rarely ever appeared to anything. Izuku would follow Kirby's gaze and saw Meta Knight too, getting excited he asked Kirby, "Do you know him? I've always wanted to see him up close but I never thought I'd get a chance like this!" Kirby nodded, happy to see his favorite hero. "I'm hoping to become Meta Knight's intern if I can!"
Meanwhile the crowd was thrilled as the two students entered the arena from opposite sides before the announcer spoke. "Three, two, one, begin!" The fight was on! Kirby and Izuku ran towards each other at top speeds, ready to battle! Izuku was ready to take on this new opponent. After seeing a few of Kirby's abilities, he knew that he had only started to scratch the surface.
Suddenly Kirby would jump high into the air, at least two stories up before Izuku got shot with a blast of frozen energy, trapping him in a block of ice. Kirby would land, with a different appearance. His uniform was replaced with a pink winter coat that had a pale-yellow fur trim covering his nose, pale-yellow gloves, long puffy sleeves that faded into ice blue near the end, long mulberry-colored pants and scarlet boots that had ice-skate blades on the bottoms of them. The kid also seemed to be wearing a purple headband with a stripe of ice-blue along with a six-pointed star shaped gem in the front. The area inside the headband was filled with ice that glimmered in the summer light.
Izuku had been completely taken by surprise by Kirby's opening move and this was made evident as the ice block kept him frozen in place, completely defenseless. To everyone in the crowd, it looked like the fight had just been decided before it could even start as it seemed like Kirby had gained the upper hand in a single hit.
Izuku continued to stand still, stuck in the ice block and clearly overwhelmed by the situation. This made the fight seem all too easy for Kirby who was grinning while skating in a small figure 8 right in front of his stunned opponent like a taunt. This was just downright embarrassing! Izuku looked like he had been just outplayed to the maximum.
"You good there?" Kirby skated over to Izuku, who remained in the ice block, looking defeated, all the while the crowd seemed still in shock from the move. This was starting to feel more like a smack down than an actual fight...
Kirby then tapped the ice, causing it to crack then vanish. "How about you try actually attacking, huh?" This left Izuku shocked by how casually Kirby had just destroyed the ice block. He felt like he had just seen an impossibility happen before his eyes. What was even going on with this kid? How was he so strong? Even more than feeling embarrassed, Izuku felt like he was just having a hard time processing the situation. "How are you so strong? What gives you that strength? You just broke the ice in a single tap?!" Kirby grinned at this. "I can break ice that I make. Simple as that." He would say before skating to the other side of the arena then back to Izuku who was still starstruck by his fellow student and opponent. "We're in a fight remember?" Kirby declared, still grinning as Izuku shook his head out of his little stupor and his eyes hardened. "Right! I forgot for a moment… This is getting serious…" Izuku's focus returned and with it his confidence. He was ready for this, and he was getting excited to fight this unknown adversary now that he had seen what they were capable of.
"Alright then, I won't hold back! I'll fight you with everything I have!" Izuku shouted these words and prepared himself for battle, diving towards Kirby to launch a punch. But just as he did this, Kirby skated towards Izuku, pirouetting then leaping over Izuku, landing behind him. Izuku took a second to recover, his brain going a mile a minute.
As the fight continued, several people in the audience were still trying to figure out how Kirby was ice skating on concrete. Izuku tried charging at Kirby again, hoping to land a solid hit on the ice skater, but Kirby would easily evade the strikes again, casually skating around his opponent and dodging with ease.
Izuku's heart rose then sank as he saw Kirby pirouette then jump into the air before landing, causing the concrete inside the arena to become covered with ice. He was starting to feel like he needed a miracle to win. "How, how are you doing this… You sure don't need to put a lot of effort in your fights, do you? It's like everything you do comes so naturally… Why is that?"
Kirby tapped the icy ground with his skate, causing the ice to crack then vanish, leaving the concrete there. "This better?" Izuku was shocked by this but quickly recovered. "Do you even have to try?" Izuku was still in awe by the moves Kirby performed so far who had skated over to Izuku. "Yep!" Kirby would then lean in a little and whisper. "I'll let you have a free shot. After all, if you can't land a single hit, there won't be many people wanting you as an intern now will there?"
Izuku let out a small smirk and his eyes hardened as he realized this might be his chance. He wasn't going to blow such an obvious opening as he spoke, "I promise to use it well." Izuku then let out a loud as he ran towards Kirby full speed with a powerful punch readied and aimed right at Kirby's face.
Kirby took the hit, being blown back, but not out of the arena because a few feet from the line he would form an ice ramp a few feet from the out of bounds line, curving upwards into a wall ride that Kirby jumped from, back into the center of the arena.
This displayed caused Izuku's eyes to light up at the skill of how fast Kirby saved his own skin. It was like something out of a fantasy story. He was a true master of the ice and would be a dangerous opponent for anyone. Izuku would have to keep his cool if he had any chance of beating him at this point. "That was pretty slick, but I can do some slick stuff too!" Izuku began to prepared his next attack. He was determined not to let Kirby get away with this, as he decided to go for a fast, light combo strike. This would be his best against Kirby who clearly could dodge his heavy hits easily.
As Izuku tried to strike the punches, Kirby formed an ice hamster ball around himself, moving around inside it, causing the hamster ball to roll away from the punches. Izuku was slightly stunned by how easily Kirby had just dodged the punch. This was incredible, it seemed like Kirby didn't even have to try to dodge. The ice ball seemed like just another way to toy with his opponent. While his anger was starting to heat up at how casual this all seemed, he kept a clear head and took this chance to get creative. "Hey you! Is hiding all you can do?" Izuku let out a taunting shout at Kirby, hoping that his words might do more damage than actual punches could.
Despite the fact Kirby wasn't visible through the thick ice, Izuku could almost sense Kirby was grinning as he spoke. "Nope! Did you want me to attack?" This caused Izuku to shout with confidence, "Yes. I do." He was feeling pumped up and he got into his fighting stance, ready for Kirby to do his worst. Izuku was going to get his wish; now was the time for Kirby to get serious. To try. This is when the match would get exciting…
The ice hamster ball would crack as Izuku could hear Kirby talk in a tone colder then the frozen wastelands of both planetary poles combined. "…Prepare yourself Midoriya. I will not hesitate to use ice as cold as -200 degrees Fahrenheit."
Izuku would get a shiver down his back as he heard Kirby's tone change. It was like he had become a whole new person. That was even more evident as Kirby mentioned how insanely cold the ice he was about to use would be. Kirby was about to use his deadliest ice it seemed. "Bring it on." Izuku said and his eyes steeled as he prepared himself as much as he could for the intense cold Kirby was about to unleash.
The ice hamster ball would continue to crack as the temperature of the air in the entire arena began dropping rapidly. Izuku's teeth would start chattering a bit as he felt the air getting colder but he took deep breaths, which were visible in the frosty air, to try and steady himself as much as possible Kirby probably hoped to freeze him solid here. It was a scary idea but Izuku couldn't back down now. He was going to go all out no matter what.
Suddenly the hamster ball that was cracking would shatter releasing a strong gust of cold air in all directions, several snowflakes blowing in the wind. The ice that had shattered from the hamster ball would sharpen, forming hundreds of tiny razor-sharp spikes that all launched themselves at Izuku like homing missiles, their direction changing wherever he went.
Wide eyes filled with terror lay plastered on Izuku's face at the sight of all the spikes. As much as Izuku tried to dodge, only a couple spikes got stuck in the ground, the rest flying towards Izuku. Fast. It seemed like this attack was impossible to avoid as there was nowhere except out of bounds to escape these icy homing missiles. Kirby was no joke…
The ice spikes would seemingly surround Izuku, almost threatening to go in for the kill as Kirby slowly approached Izuku with cold, lifeless eyes. Each step he took began covering the ground in ice, resulting in the arena becoming very slippery so even if Izuku tried to run, he would either slide out of bounds, or be too slow compared to Kirby who in this form was practically a professional ice skater.
Izuku let out another shiver as Kirby kept getting closer, this was like a scene out of a nightmare. Kirby was coming at him slowly, yet relentlessly and it did nothing but make it more intimidating. It felt like he was a monster moving in for the kill, one that could not be stopped. Izuku was terrified of what might happen next, what kind of powers these icy eyes held… This was like nothing he had faced before in his entire life.
The air around Kirby was way far below freezing, at -90 degrees Fahrenheit, slowly getting colder with each second. Izuku could barely even speak anymore it was so cold. This was by far the coldest he has ever felt in his life. He was not ready for this… His movements started to slow down as he could feel his mind starting to freeze like the air. It was only going to get colder, too. How cold could Kirby go? What could stop this beast?
Izuku's eyes were wide with fear as he looked at Kirby and his cold, lifeless eyes that were staring right through him. He was frozen in fear for more than one reason now… A frosty aura would emanate from Kirby as Izuku slowly became incased in a large block of ice before Kirby gave the block a swift punch, knocking it out of bounds.
The crowd roared in applause and cheering. They couldn't believe what they had just seen, they had never seen anything like this in the Sports Festival before. They felt privileged to be watching such a spectacle…
Kirby gave a glare at the frozen Izuku, repeating a quote from Meta Knight he had heard a couple of times "You've much yet to learn..." before turning away, the ice ability vanishing along with all the leftover ice, being replaced by a small icy blue five-pointed star in his hand which he pocketed, the temperature soon returning to normal as well.
"Hey can someone get Izuku to Recovery Girl? He's gonna be suffering from extreme frostbite." Kirby would look over to frozen Izuku, his playful yet compassionate eyes returning, partially concerned for his defeated foe.
Several medics would rush a now unconscious Izuku to Recovery Girl in the infirmary. The medics knew they had to be quick; frostbite is a serious condition that the cold of which Izuku was exposed to at full force could cause.
