A Birthday Rescue

It was a very exciting day for the Eager Young Space Cadet. The pig quickly got dressed into his purple spacesuit before heading onto the main deck. As he expected the captain had once again overslept. The cadet looked at his watch, seeing they were already five minutes late. A few seconds later Duck Dodgers walked out onto the deck, yawning.

"G-g-g-good morning c-ca-ca-captain D-D-D-Dodgers." The cadet saluted.

"My someone's in a cheery mood."

"Oh, I am sir. After all, it's a r-r-r-r ur very s-s-s-special day today."

"What's so special about Wednesday?"

The cadet's smile turned into a frustrated frown. "Y-y-y-you forgot again, d-d-d-didn't you?"

"Forget what?"

"My birthday."

"It's your birthday today? Why didn't you remind me?"

"I-I-I-I've been m-m-m-mentioning it for the p-p-p-past s-s-s-serval days. I e-e-e-even wrote on the c-c-c-calendar," he stated, pointing to a calendar on the wall that had the Cadet's birth date circled in red with three giant arrows pointing towards it.

"Hu, I never noticed that before," Dodgers said just before they received a message from I.Q. Hi.

"Captain Dodgers. Your mission today is to rescue the princess of Neptune from Mars and return her to her home planet."

"Princess." Dodgers lovely said with hearts in his eyes. "Fear not, I shall rescue her before you can say Charles Martin Jones." he saluted.

"You better Dodgers. Oh and happy birthday Cadet." I.Q said before ending the call.

"A-a-a-at least someone r-r-r-remembers."

"Step on Cadet." ordered the captain. "There's a potential Mrs Duck in need of rescuing."

"Ay-ay-a-y-er yes sir." The Eager Young Space Cadet put the ship's engine into full power and they blasted off.

On the red planet, Commander X-2 had finished tying up the princess.

"Unhand me, you barbarians," she stated in her squeaky New York accent. "If you think my father will let you get away with this..."

"Oh, we're hoping for that." Queen Tyr'ahnee chuckled as she walked towards her hostage. "King ωκεανός will do anything to have his precious daughter back." she mocked, lifting her head by the chain. "Whether it's paying me billions or surrendering Neptune over to me."

"My father will never surrender Neptune over to likes of you, Queen Tyr'ahnee."

"We shall see, pig."

Just then they heard a crashing sound. The Martian queen turned around to see Dodgers and the Cadet on the floor, having crashed through the ceiling.

"What do you know, I'm alright." the duck stated as he checked himself over while the pig groaned in pain.

"Smooth Dodgers. Really cat-like." X-2 sarcastically stated.

"Flattery will get you nowhere bucket head." Dodgers taunted as he and Cadet picked themselves up. "Know then, release the princess and no one gets hurt."

"Wow." Cadet quietly said when the tied-up female pig.

Dodgers looked towards the readers. "Risking my life for pandered pig, oh brother. Is there any way my life can sink any lower?"

"Centurions! Sies these infare beings," ordered X-2. Suddenly the rescue team was surrounded by the robotic army.

"Guess that answers that question."

"Give up Dodgers and will let you live. It's your choice." the queen stated.

"Given the fact we're rescuing a swine I say..."

"Never. W-we-we-we'll s-s-s-save her or d-d-d-die trying." Cadet butted in.

"Crud."

"Suit yourself. Centurions! Attack!" the queen ordered.

The Centurions began their attack, shooting at the duo. The rescue team dodged serval beams before rushing past a few of the robots, making their way to the princess.

"E-E-E-Eager Y-Y-Y-Young S-S-S-Space C-C-C-Cadet and C-C-C-Captain D-D-D-Dodgers at your ass-assi-ass-er at your serves, y-y-y-your m-m-m-majesty." Cadet said.

"Thank you, Captain Dodgers," she said.

"He's not the captain. I'm the captain." Dodgers butted in.

"Seriously."

"Yes seriously. I'm the heroic leader of this mission."

The Cadet and the princess rolled their eyes.

"On the contrary Dodgers." X-2 interjected. "You're the dead leader." He shot his laser gum at the duck, who managed to dodge the beam, although it's catch his tail.

"Y-Y-Y-You d-d-d-deal w-w-w-with th-th-th-the ma-ma-ma-martian w-w-w-while I un-un-un-untie the pr-pr-pr-princess."

"Oh no you don't I'm the captain I give the commands around here." Dodgers corrected. "Now I'll deal with the Martians while you untie the princess."

"Y-y-y-yes s-s-s-sir."

Cadet rushed over to her and began to untie the rope.

"D-D-D-Don't worry y-y-y-your h-h-h-highness. I'll have you o-o-o-out in a g-g-g-gi-sec."

"Thank you, Cadet."

Dodgers meanwhile, were fighting X-2 and Tyr'ahnee with much difficulty. "A'ha, now prepare to face the power of my disintegrating pistol." he whipped out his yellow and red Acme disintegrating pistol. "And, brother, when it disintegrates, it disintegrates!" He pulled the trigger only for the pistol to instantly turn into dust. "Heh, well, what do you know? It disintegrated." he grinned sheepishly. X-2 began shooting at Dodgers who began to run as fast as his weeped feet could carry him. The Martians began chasing him, not noticing that the Cadet had managed to free the princess.

"Quickly before they come back." The Princess said.

"Wh-Wh-Wh-What ab-ab-ab-about Ca-Ca-Ca-Captian Dodgers?"

"He'll be fine."

"Well I su-su-su-suppose he has fa-fa-fa-face worse before." he shrugged.

They rushed back to the ship. They were just about to close the door when a firey explosion came from the building. Dodgers flew through the air before landing on the ground with a hard loud thud.

"Captain Dodgers quick before the Martians came for us." the Cadet ordered.

"But mummy, I don't want to go to school."

The pigs gave each other an unimpressed look before dragging him into the ship.

Queen Tyr'ahnee and Commander X-2 looked on as the ship took off.

"Curse you Dodgers!" they shouted in unison.

On the main desk, Dodgers sat in his chair, still in a daze. While Cadet chatted with the princess.

"Thank you for saving me. Happy birthday, Cadet."

"H-h-h-how d-d-did you know it was m-m-m-my bir-bir-bir-birthday?"

"The calendar." She pointed out.

"Oh. Well, th-th-th-thank you, your hi-hi-hi-highness."

"Please call me Πετούνια."

"Thank you Πετούνια."

"You're welcome, Cadet. By the way here's your birthday gift." she said before planting a kiss on his cheek."

The Cadet's face turned pinkish red as hearts formed in his eyes. Just as the scene faded to black he just made to stutter out. "Th-Th-Th-That's all folks."
