"Guys… I have an idea" said Yosuke.
"Is this another one of your terrible ideas that always ends badly for us?" Kanji asked with great scepticism.
"Oh cmon! You haven't even heard what I have to say yet!" Yosuke complained.
"We're listening" said Yu.
"Ok… we should totally go on a group date with the girls. And this time, a certain someone won't ruin it" he said, glaring directly at Teddie.
"Who ruined it last time?" Teddie asked.
"You did!" Yosuke yelled.
"So what, we just all go on a date together? How does that even work?" asked Kanji.
"Well we split into couples obviously, then we charm them with our incredibly good looks and smooth flirting and boom, we have girlfriends!" explained Yosuke.
"Woah! I want a girlfriend! Let's do it!" Teddie cheered.
"This seems… very naïve. I don't really know if they would be interested in this at all" said Yu.
"I'm not interested" said Kanji.
"Would you be more interested if we paired you up with Naoto?" Yosuke teased.
"Shut up man! That has nothing to do with this!" Kanji yelled.
"Ok listen… we might be able to pull this off IF we have the right pairings AND we can convince them to actually do this" said Yu.
"Ok well we've got you Yu, so the convincing part is covered. We just need pairs…"
"Kanji and Naoto. Yosuke and Chie. Teddie and Rise. Me and Yukiko" Yu said.
"Hey wait! I don't wanna go on a date with Chie!" Yosuke complained.
"You guys would make a cute couple. You bicker like you're married already" Yu chuckled.
"We don't act like that… fine, I'll go with Chie" Yosuke finally conceded.
"Hey senpai, what's the deal with your date? Wouldn't it make more sense for you to go with Rise and Teddie to go with Yukiko?" asked Kanji.
"Sorry Kanji, the answer to that is best friend exclusive information…"
"I want to go on a date with Yukiko" said Yu.
"Oh, right. You ok with that, Ted?" asked Kanji.
"I can't wait to go on my first date! It's going to be bear-y romantic!" said Teddie, off in his own world at this point.
"Ted, do you even know what the hell is going on here?" asked Kanji again.
"Oh! Sorry, I was busy dreaming about my first date. It's gonna be so amazing and…"
"Yeah, yeah we get the idea. Alright… I'm cool with my date too I guess if we're actually gonna do this" Kanji said.
"Awesome, let's go talk to them!" Yosuke said with excitement.
The boys made their way up to the rooftop, where the girls were sat chatting.
"Hey, ladies. We have a proposal to make" said Yu.
"This is going to be a terrible idea" said Chie as she rolled her eyes.
"We want to go on a group date with you all" said Yu.
"Who would be dating who exactly?" asked Naoto, getting straight to the point of the matter.
"We were thinking Kanji and Naoto, Yosuke and Chie, Teddie and Rise, me and Yukiko, but we can make a couple changes if you like" said Yu.
"I'm not going unless I'm paired with senpai" Rise instantly insisted.
"Yeah, Yu. It might be a better…"
"Hey! I'm happy with my pairing, and I won't go if it's changed!" Yukiko now also insisted.
"Why the hell am I paired with Yosuke?!" Chie cried in outrage.
"What's wrong with being paired with me?!" Yosuke asked.
"I don't wanna go on a date with you!"
"Why not? I'm a perfectly fine date!" Yosuke barked back, bringing them both to argue back and forth like a married couple yet again.
"This is so stupid. I don't know why I agreed to this, it's not as if I'm like even interested or whatever" said Kanji.
"So you wouldn't have been interested in going on a date with me, Kanji-kun?" asked Naoto.
"Wait! No! That's not true… not that I'm saying I would be really interested in it! I would just be like, whatever about it, yknow?"
"So you are apathetic about going on a date with me?" Naoto asked yet again.
"No! That's not what I was saying! I was just talking about the concept of dating in general… not that I'm not up for dating…" he rambled as he continued to say stupid things in an attempt to backtrack.
"I had him first!" Rise said.
"No you didn't! You never had him!" Yukiko fired back.
"Yeah but I was making moves on him first so I get to have him!"
"He asked for my phone number before he knew you even existed! If anyone deserves a date with him it's me!"
Yu just stood there with Teddie as he watched the chaos unfold in front of him. Everyone was arguing or complaining or fighting. At this point he knew that no group date would happen, so he took matters into his own hands.
"Enough!" he shouted, making everyone stop what they were doing.
"I have places to be, and I'm not going to spend my time standing here watching you all argue for hours on end. Yukiko, are you free Sunday?"
"I… yes, I am."
"Great, wanna go have dinner at Aiya's at… does six work for you?"
"I-I would love to! Yes!" she gasped.
"Awesome, it's a date. Alright, I'll see you guys later" he said as he began to make his exit.
"Hey, wait a minute! What about the rest of us?!" Yosuke asked.
"Every man and woman for themself" Yu shrugged as he made his way down the stairs. The remaining seven of them stood in silence. Six of them were annoyed and upset, while one of them was the happiest girl in the world.
"So… are you girls still interested? Or…" said Yosuke.
"Read the room, Yosuke" grumbled Rise.
"Well uh… I think I'm going to leave" said Kanji who made his exit too. They all awkwardly began to exit as they all decided to just go home for the day. The idea of a group date between them all seemed cursed to fail no matter what, so nobody ever raised the idea again…
…
"Guys… I have an idea…"
"No. The answer is no, Yosuke" Kanji said.
"It's me and Yukiko's three month anniversary this weekend and we have plans, sorry" said Yu.
"What was the idea?" asked Teddie.
"Ugh… never mind" Yosuke sighed. The idea of a group date between them all seemed cursed to fail no matter what, so nobody ever raised the idea again…
For real this time.
