Long ago Pariah Dark ruled over the Ghost Zone with absolute fear. He destroyed the core of any ghost who opposed him, and if a human found their ways through the purple doors. The Dark King would give them to his worst advisors and torture them for information about their world. When it seemed hopeless, six beings, who were both human and ghost arrived and saved the realm from destruction.
The first one of these halfa that comes to mind was a woman named Freja. She stood tall with wide shoulders and thick stone like skin. Her face glowed bright from the tattoos she received from her homeland. And her armor was made from fur and leather, draped to hide her form. She was the third to arrive at the Ghost Zone.
She began her new half life as a warrior throwing her mace into the body of a minor skeleton commander, crushing him into ash. She believed the new world to be filled with evil spirits and stayed in her world, protecting the city of Volkegen from the spirits. The people there called her a descendant from the gods. The ghost referred to her as a cryptic monster.
That she stayed, until she met the first. He taught her how to open and close the doors to the Ghost Zone with the help of a few tools. In exchange for this he asked that she help him with the Ghost King. A force that threatened to invade their world if they didn't regain control of all the portals.
The First and the Third viewed each other with suspicion. As allies they could not use their weapons so they used their words as swords. According to onlookers, the two would never betray each other, even when prompted by allies of the Ghost King the two chose each other each time.
The Third took a human lover, a woman of similar build with thin red hair tied into two thick braids. While this woman was not like her lover, she was taught how to fight the ghost and her sly ways saved the ancients many times. This red hair woman was the one to bury the Third after the final battle.
Israel was the first to arrive in the Ghost Zone. He had left his clan to look for the truth about death, and found a purple door in the woods. When he fell one day, as the door was closing it ripped him in between each world. He existed as a ghost in both worlds, an intangible spirit that haunted places that no longer wanted him. Years, he spent like this, until one day he saw a spider spinning its web and realized he could slowly stitch himself back together. The process was slow and at the end he was still a stranger to both worlds. But now he was whole he could explore both worlds to his delight, traveling through doors and hidden pathways through life and death.
Both worlds changed around him, with Pariah Dark's influence spreading through the Ghost Zone. Ghost began to warn him about the King and begged him to hide if he ever came. The First did not heed these warnings, and he soon found himself summoned to the castle. Much like his past, the details of his stay in the Ghost King's castle are not known, but Pariah Dark gained the ability to manipulate portals to and from the Ghost Zone. And the First? He escaped the castle missing his eye. Was it then that he decided to start the rebellion? Was it when he saw the towns burned down from the King's conquest? Or did he begin his plans when the human world was threatened? The records of this time are long gone, and many have spent years analyzing the First's motives and actions. But he raised an army with five other Halfas and locked Pariah Dark away.
The Second to come to the Ghost Zone was a hopeless man. He gave up on human life and in a drunken stupor had fallen in a portal as it closed. Now half alive and half dead, the Second was unable to have a true death. When he tried to hang himself, his neck extended like a rope. He threw himself off a cliff and his body floated to the bottom. He showed his powers to the other people in his village, and as he wished, they burned him alive. The flames licked and snapped at his skin, burning his flesh and before he achieved his wish, the burning turned from hot to cold. His powers turned the flames into ice and the ice dug into his skin, burning it with cold. The ice trapped him in that frozen pyre and he stood there for weeks, until he saw the First with his missing eye. The First gave the Second purpose in life and taught him how to use his frozen powers. The Third would joke that the Second was like a puppy following the First around. The Third never said anything but followed the First into the final battle.
The Fourth to enter the Ghost Zone came willingly. She was a princess about fifteen years old, who was betrothed to her own Father. She had played many tricks on her Father to try and postpone the marriage, demanding dresses of gold, cloaks made from dragon scales, and strange magical items. These tricks could not go on forever, and she fled into the Ghost Zone. Her transformation was slow, the ectoplasm leaking into her skin, slowly turning her into a halfa. Her dragon scale cloak fused into her flesh, her gold dress dyed her skin golden, and her sword grew brighter and brighter. She seeked the First out, and begged him for her life back, but he was unable to free her.
She turned her grief into rage. She was the first into Pariah Dark's castle. Golden wings sprouted from her back, with her high pitch screams reducing the armies to fiery balls. She was the first to strike the King, and she was the one who carried the Third's body out of the castle.
The Fifth and the Sixth were twins. The Fifth was sly while his brother was stubborn. They never told anyone how they gained their powers, but they used it to better their lives. They sold stolen riches and wealth from the Ghost Zone to the Human World. They knew the First and the Third, for they had fought over many items. They did not have honor nor respect but they did fear the Fourth. So, when she came to them, with her golden scales and traded her blade for their help they were quick to join. They worked hard to gather supplies and block resources from going to Pariah's castle. The Fifth used his sly tongue to talk to the ghosts, and the Sixth used his fist to destroy the roads. It was the Fifth who created the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep from items he had stolen, and it was the Sixth and Second who slammed it shut on the king. The Fifth tried to leave the battle with the crown of flames and ring of fire, his long slender body faded into the dark, hiding from the grieving group. He could not run forever and the First found him soon after and crushed his core.
After the defeat of Pariah Dark. The First locked himself away in a tower and watched time fly by. His human body rotted away, and his ghostly form took over. But without his flesh he was unable to control his appearance. Strange and different he hides in his tower watching over the Ghost Zone.
After the death of the Third the Second was purposeless again. Leaving the First he traveled the Ghost Zone, shedding his human form and flesh for a dog-like form. Horns of ice grew on his head, and his body turned more beast-like year after year. Deep into the Ghost Zone he found an isle covered in ice and snow. He made a home there, and soon other lost souls would join him, until a small city of white beast-like ghosts gave him purpose.
The Third did not survive the battle, but her lover created a memorial for her, and planted blood blossoms around the body. Protecting it from evil ghosts. Without her core she was unable to live her afterlife, but her memory lives on in myths and legends about her life.
The Fourth stayed in the Ghost Zone. She accepted the role of queen and controlled the dragon ghosts. She took control of the chaos and power vacuum after Pariah's death and created the uneasy balance that maintains the Ghost Zone today. Her lineage is still in power in the form of Queen Dora, the great granddaughter of that golden ghost.
The Sixth took the crown and ring from the First and hid them in the Ghost Zone, where he thought no one would find them. He returned to his home but without his brother there, the Sixth fell into a deep depression. One day their grand home of gold and treasure sank into the ground with the Sixth sleeping inside. Never to be seen again. But a new ghost who only appeared in the dreams of others would soon appear in the Ghost Zone, with a tall slender body made up of teh darkness itself.
