MISSING SCENE TO UTOPIA

Alright, alright. I'm sure it's been done a million times already. It just popped up in my head as I re-watched the episode. I needed it out. And I like to write screenplays. What can I say?

AMANDA (OS)

I like to sleep on my left side.

LEE (OS)

I like to sleep on my right.

We hear Amanda protest as they try to make themselves more comfortable for the night.

TIGHTER ON AMANDA AND LEE

LEE

If I move my arm like this and you do the same, maybe we can…

AMANDA

Lee, stop it.

She slaps his arm.

LEE

(hissing)

Shush. You're going to alert the guards.

AMANDA

Hey, I'm doing what I can, alright!

LEE

OK, OK. Let's try something else.

AMANDA

Lee! What are you doing?

LEE

Trying to move you to my other side. You said you prefer the left side, right?

AMANDA

Let's not fight over this, OK? Why don't we stay the way we are? I'm tired. And cold.

LEE

Wanna huddle some more?

We make out their silhouettes in the dark. Lee's wrapping his arms around Amanda and drawing her to him. They're facing each other. She settles her head in the crook of his neck and huddles closer, one of her legs between his.

AMANDA

Thank you.

She sighs in ease, inhaling his scent.

We see him tense.

LEE

(warning tone)

Don't do that. It's very distracting.

AMANDA

(drawls her answer, not sounding one bit sorry)

Sorry.

LEE

(huffs)

It's OK.

He draws her body closer to his.

Try to sleep. I'll keep watch.

AMANDA

(mutters, already half-asleep)

Lee, you need to sleep too.

LEE

That's OK, Amanda. You rest. I'm fine.

(beat)

Amanda, you're asleep?

He waits then chuckles to him.

Guess you are. Oh, Amanda.

He wraps his arms around her even tighter.

She mutters his name in her sleep.

He inhales the scent of her hair and drops a light kiss there.

Sweet dreams, Amanda.

(beat)

CLOSE UP ON CHARACTERS – STILL NIGHTTIME

We see him wake up in the dim, predawn light. It takes him a moment to remember where he is. Everything is very quiet.

Amanda is propped up on one elbow, her face just a few inches from his, watching him with a smirk on her face.

AMANDA

(teasingly)

Pretty interesting dream you were having, hum?

He props himself on his elbow too.

LEE

What? What time is it?

AMANDA

Time to hit the road, sleepy head.

She ruffles his hair playfully. She leans in and drops a gentle kiss on his cheek.

He looks suddenly alert.

LEE

How long have I been asleep? Have you heard any activity?

AMANDA

Relax.

She rubs her nose against his.

We're OK. We're gonna be OK. I'm sure by now Billy has sent a rescue team.

LEE

(shaking his head in disbelief)

You are always so perky in the morning, it's annoying.

She giggles.

AMANDA

And you're always so grumpy. But you're the adorable kind of grumpy so I don't mind.

She winks at him and scrambles to her feet, not giving him time to reply, leaving him flabbergasted.

CAMERA PANS BACK TO REVEAL THE SWAMP

Come on. We have some bad guys to catch.

LEE

Hey, that should be my line!
