My mother had dropped me off at the Todoroki estate for me to hang out with Shoto while Rei watched the both of you. She'd said it was about a new job opportunity and she couldn't pass up the chance.

When I first arrived Shoto came running out and hugged me tight. We both laughed as we clung to each other before running inside together. Rei watched the encounter from the doorway with an affectionate smile on her face as Hikari walked back to the car and drove off.

Me and Shoto arrived at his room and went to play. Shoto turned to me with a excited expression, "Guess what Etsuko-chan!" He exclaimed excitedly as he raised both of his hands up so that they were in between the both of me, "I got my quirk!" I gasped and watched as he made a small bit of ice form in his right hand and a small red flame in his left.

"Thats awesome Shoto-kun! I can't wait until I get my very own quirk and then we can train together too!" I both bounce up and down at the exciting prospect of training together. Shoto lowered his hands and I ran over to him and hugged him hard, "I hope that we can both get awesome quirks like yours Shoto-kun!" I heard a door slam as I released Shoto. Hearing the big loud footsteps that could only mean Endeavor was back both of our smiles dropped from our faces.

I knew about what Endeavor did to his kids but couldn't help feeling as if he was like a father to me as he seemed to treat me like one of his own kids as I was at the Todoroki estate most of the week.

Endeavor opened the door to Shoto's room and I saw Shoto tense. "Shoto! I said we were training today not playing!" He turned his fiery gaze to me, "and you can come as well! I won't have my son associated with people who refuse to train themselves even before they have their quirks!" I nodded with a serious face and followed him out of the room to the training grounds, Shoto beside me.

I huffed as I finished the laps I was told to do around the training field and took a small breather to watch as Shoto pushed to produce as much fire as he could. As I straightened myself after catching my breath I decided to do a few more laps, or at least I did until I saw Rei come out of the house with tears in her eyes. My brows furrowed, Why is Rei crying? I wondered. Rei's eyes scanned the training ground as if looking for something. Both Endeavor and Shoto stopped as they noticed her. Her eyes stopped when she saw me and she began to walk my way. As she got closer a growing feeling of dread gathered in my stomach.

When she reached me she looked at the ground as if what she was doing pained her greatly. She swallowed and opened her mouth to speak but all that came out was a quiet sob. She swallowed again and was finally able to speak, "Etsuko I'm so sorry," she looked up at you finally tears now streaming down her cheeks.

I looked at her confused as to why she was apologizing, "why are you saying sorry you didn't do anything?"

She looked at me with a caring expression before her earlier saddness slammed back in. Backing up a bit she kneeled down so she was at my level, "Etsuko. Your mother she-" she was cut of by a small sob before she continued shakily, "she's dead."

I took a step back as I felt tears blur your vision, "n-no your lying. Mom can't be dead."

She looked up at me, "Its true Etsuko. They found her this afternoon. I'm s-so sorry." she tried to reach for you but you took more steps back before tripping and hitting the ground. I took several more steps back before tripping and curling into a ball as I cried out, "Your wrong!"

I heard Shoto running towards me with Endeavor behind him. I felt as ten objects erupted from my spine wrapping around me protectively as I shook. Several voices filled my head simultaneously all talking over each other, "I have to comfort her." "What happened is she ok?!" "Poor thing." "What's going on here?!"

I pressed my hands to my head, "shut up. shut up. shut up! shutupshutupshutupshutup!" I felt the tendrils surrounding me tighten and harden to form a spherical shield all around me curled form. I didn't feel my consciousness fade, only the relief as the voices quieted and all became silent.

Shoto's Pov

I stopped producing my fire as I saw mother walk out of the house toward Etsuko, Why is mom crying? Endeavor didn't yell at me for stopping as he had looked over to them as well. I looked up at Endeavor but snapped my gaze back to Etsuko as I heard her talk in a warbled voice, "n-no your lying. Mom can't be dead." Mom was on her knees now talking to Etsuko but I couldn't hear what she said as my thoughts raced wondering what they were talking about that had them both this rattled.

I snapped out of my thoughts as Etsuko took several steps back and cried out, "Your wrong!" I watched as ten black tendrils began to emerge from her spine and I began to run towards her hoping I could comfort her somehow. I heard Endeavor following me as well. I reached her just as the Black tendrils closed around her in a ball and hardened to form a sort of shield. What happened is she ok?! I went to approach her surrounded form but felt Endeavors hand hold me back, I turned and glared at him, "she needs my help."

He sighed, "I know. But she needs to calm down first or her quirk will lash out."

I stopped realizing he was right and turned back to look at Etsuko again, "I just want to help..."
