I awoke in a room. More specifically the room that was mine at the Todoroki estate. They had given me one because of how often I had bean over here as my mother worked her night shifts. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. As the fog in my brain cleared I remembered the events that happened the day prior. I began to shake as tears began forming in my eyes again, feeling the tendrils begin to come from my back to wrap around me like before. I looked back at them in surprise finally realizing what they were. I'd gotten my quirk. How bittersweet that it would come only once my mother wasn't there to see it.
I heard a knock at the door snapping me away from my thoughts. "Etsuko?" It was Shoto, he'd probably come to see if I was awake. I went to the door and opened it for him. Shoto looked at me concern obvious on his face. "I hope she's alright."
"I'm alright Shoto you don't have to worry ok," I replied putting on a small smile to ease his worry.
His eyes widened at my response, "Etsuko? I didn't say anything just now."
My eyes widened too at that, "W-wait so does that mean..." I trailed off at your obvious implication. I'd gotten two quirks, one I didn't know where from and the other...my mothers quirk.
A few days passed. Police came to tell us what happened. Rei was there to console me afterward. Child Services also came but with the help of Rei and Endeavor they let me stay with them until the located any living relative of mine.
It had officially been two weeks since my mothers death. Every day began and ended the same. I woke up had breakfast with the Todoroki family, trained with Endeavor and Shoto, ate, went to sleep crying. Today was no different. I walked over to the small bench where my water sat slightly out of breath. Shoto walked over to me looking as if he wanted to saw something. He stopped in front of me and went to speak, "Etsuko-chan?"
"Yes Shoto-kun?"
"Are you ok?"
My smile faltered, "o-of course why wouldn't I be Shoto-kun?"
His eyebrows furrowed and he opened his mouth to speak again but was interupted by Endeavor, "Etsuko come here!"
I gave Shoto a look saying I'd be right back and rushed into the house where Endeavor was. I got to the main room and realized Rei was here also along with the Child Services person from before and a green hair women I didn't know. Shoto came into the room not a minute after me looking in-between the stranger people in the living room. The Child Services person from before began speaking first, "Etsuko Megumi?"
Shuffling my feet at being addressed directly I answered him, "yes that's me,"
He nodded and continued, "This women here is your last living relative Inko Midoriya. By law you will now be going to live with her."
My eyes widened at that and I turned to look at Endeavor to see if he was telling the truth. Endeavor nodded in my directing assuring me it was the truth. Not realizing my change the man continued, "You will have the rest of the afternoon to pack your things and say your goodbyes before I escort both you and Mrs. Midoriya back to your new home."
I felt tears grow in my eyes but pushed down the feeling and schooled my expression before responding, "ok." Shoto looked at me with surprise when I didn't lash out or fight it like he had fully expected me too. I looked back at him only shaking my head slightly before talking to him telepathically, "Theres no use in fighting it Shoto-kun it won't change the outcome, only make it harder."
He nodded feeling tears begin to well up in his eyes too.
So with watery words and goodbyes you packed your things and got into the car to begin your new life with the Midoriya's.
