Chapter 2
Yua and the family had just sat down to eat. She just finished feeding the twins and then Shin shortly after. But then, her food got cold already. "Feeding three kids isn't easy…" she muttered.
Yua was about to partake in her cold meal when it was suddenly take away from her. Peering up, she saw Sukuna took her plate away and replaced it… with a hot meal! "Oh… thank you?" she said in a slightly unnerving tone. "Are you feeling… okay?" she asked.
He merely smiled. "Never better," before taking a seat… then eating her cold meal.
This… startled the table.
"Uh, you could get a fresh plate if you want to?" Gojo said offhandedly.
"Why didn't you get one for her?"
Did… that sound odd? Yua could hear the malic in his voice, almost questioning Gojo's loyalty to her!
"I was about to, but I am pinned in here!" he protested. After all, Suguru had joined them at their table now, he helps out with the twins.
"I doubt that, you've gotten out of tighter spots." Sukuna muttered as he continued to eat the cold meal.
Yua wasn't going to complain, most of the time her meals are cold when she eats them. The twins can be fickled and weaning Shin has not been easy.
Oddly enough, Sukuna did have a point.
Gojo hasn't offered to get her a fresh meal when her has gone cold after tending to the twins. Suguru has offered and done so a few times… why did Sukuna do so without asking?
She was about to eat until Shin got fussy. Before she could even put down her chopsticks, Sukuna tended to him instantly!
"Well, he does have four hands…" Gojo said and smirked.
She shook her head to it all, but she got to enjoy her meal.
When it was said and done, Gojo went on ahead with Suguru and the kids. Yua stayed behind to help clean up… so did Sukuna.
"What's with you? Or is that drug still lingering in your system?" she asked.
He kept a straight face. "You of all people have said I should do more around here… I'm trying." He muttered the last part but continued to help clean up.
She was oddly impressed at this point, but he didn't do this before. Why bother to start now?
Looking about, she found the five Fushiguros were also assisting, mainly because Megumi was. The brothers have been inching their way closer to him, wanting to talk. But, Megumi quickly finishes and leaves before any of them get a word in.
"I better talk to him," she muttered.
"Don't bother," came out of Sukuna.
Yua peered over at him oddly. "Why? He's obviously…"
"He is still trying to come to terms that the father who abandoned him has returned and they are trying to form a relationship, however as they attempted, the five brats that have come into the picture is disrupting it. He's worried that he is going to be stuck raising them over his old man since he never raised him. Toji has been looking after his brats, at the same time… he didn't give the same time nor courtesy to Megumi."
She froze oddly.
"Can you dismantle a problem like that all the time?" she asked curiously.
"No, I've possessed Megumi before, remember? This is just what I remember and from what I have observed."
She forgot about that… he has been in Megumi's head before.
"What can…"
"This isn't something you should interfere with, this is a Fushiguro family problem, and therefore the family needs to address it."
What… profound advice!
She nodded in agreement, since, after all, she feels she has to solve everyone problems around here… for some reason.
When everything was taken to the kitchen, washed and put away. Yua opted to go back home, yet, along the way. Sukuna trailed her. "Something wrong?" she asked.
He hesitated a little, until a weak. "Thank you," came out of him.
This took her aback most of all.
"Why are you thanking me?"
He sighed disgruntled. "Had it been anyone else, when I wasn't in the right frame of mind, I know they would have spoken of every misdeed, every death and chaos I had caused by my own greed. You didn't unless it was necessary. You took your time in explaining what had happened and why you didn't tell me the full story right away. You truly were trying to preserve my mind and not have me suffer… therefore… you have my gratitude."
For a moment, Yua felt something had broken in the world. Somewhere, somehow there was a disturbance in the force as the kids would say and joke about. "You're welcome, besides. I didn't know if I reminded you of your past, you would want to go back to it. At the same time… I think I understood now why my family did what they did. Why they wanted to help you. It makes more sense to me now."
A moment of pause came over him, she swore a smile nearly formed from Sukuna but it was quickly suppressed.
"I strongly believe your power has grown again, and I have seen this from time to time with the Tooru women after childbirth. It doesn't happen to all of them, but, when it does, it is how they determine who is the strongest as well as have the best technique or to inherit one," he explained. "I would be more than willing to tell you more if you are interested."
Something is wrong.
Yua paused once more, but peered at him oddly. "Do you still see me as Chusi?" she asked bluntly. "If you do, please don't. I'm not her, I could never be her to you…"
"No, you just remind me the best things about her and Mother Tooru," he said. "I will leave you be, good night, Yua."
…..
'Yua… he called me Yua?!' her mind screamed. He has rarely ever called her Yua, it's Tooru this or that. But… why the sudden change?
Something is DEFIANTLY going on!
