The Eternal Mother: A Tale of Love and Loss in Another World - Chapter 2

The next day, Kurt woke up, with his eyes still sleepy because he couldn't sleep much from uncomfort. He then stretched out, grabbed his D.I.Y fishing rod, and walked out of the dark alley, going to the fishing pond from the North-West of the capital.

As usual, when he arrived, there was no one who visits it, which was the more reason he came to fish alone with his fish rod. he picked up one of the fishing baits and put it on the hook of his rod. he then swung it to the pond, then waited it to just get the fish he needed to feed himself.

This went on before sunset, yet he didn't even have a single fish caught by the bait, much to his disappointment. He noticed that he had at least one last bait to use. So he took it and then put it on the hook and as usual, swung it to the pond. Not even 2 minutes later, he began to notice that the rod was getting curvy, a sign that means that he managed to catch the fish.

"The fish took the bait! I need to pull over strong enough to get it out of the pond." He said that, but he knew it was easier said than done. In fact, the caught fish was wiggling with a strength he never thought he could face against. yet he desperately tried to pull over with all he got.

"Come on…! Please go submissive…!" He was struggling as he began to lose his strength. He could tell that he might end up in the pond at this rate. But it wasn't long until he saw two hands coming out behind him and gripped on the rod. He turned around to see the person behind him. And he noticed that it was Eri Kurokawa, the same pregnant woman he met from yesterday. He was at a loss of words for the miracle.

"Y-You're… helping me out…?" He asked. In Eri's perspective, she saw Kurt struggling to get the fish out of the pond. So she decided to come over and help him out. Without saying a word as to not scare the fish away, she began aiding him by helping to pull the rod towards her so it would be easier to pull.

And when they finally caught the fish, Eri picked it up with her left hand and presented it to Kurt. "You did it, Kurt." She congratulated him. She smiled gently as she gave him the prize catch. The fish was a big one, weighing probably close to a kilogram of fish. Quite a meal for one person.

Again, Kurt was at a loss of words of what happened, mostly because he could tell that she was trying to help him out, something not even a single person would do. As he grabbed the fish from her hand, he was overjoyed. Because of that, he bowed to her as a thank you.

"T-Thank you for aiding me…! I appreciated the help from you." He thanked her. She laughed gently as she saw him in an overjoyed state. "No problem, Kurt." She said while smiling kindly. "It wasn't that big of a deal for helping my little one such as yourself." She said before telling him to enjoy his meal with a smirk.

"It's only right that you enjoy the delicious meal you worked hard towards." She assured him that she wouldn't eat what he wanted to eat. Of course, Kurt couldn't agree more on what she said. However, he suddenly had a thought that he didn't tell her of his past. The problem was that if he told her about it, would she hate him Or would she love him more? The mere thought of that was enough to turn his mailing face into a noticeable frown. Eri noticed that, and was worried about him.

"What's wrong, Kurt?" She asked, looking at him with a concerned expression. From his response to her telling her to enjoy his meal, she could tell that he was bothered by something. So she decided to gently pat his head in an attempt to cheer him up. She then crouched down to meet him face to face despite her swollen belly.

"If you don't mind me asking, what bothers you, Kurt?" She asked. Despite the fact that she might not like him, Kurt was desperate to tell her. But he felt like the pond wasn't the best place to talk about. "Is it okay that we go somewhere private? There's something I wanted to tell you that I didn't have the chance for.." He asked before explaining why he would ask her.

Eri looked at him with a concerned expression as he said that he wanted to say something private. It made her worry, thinking that he might be wanting to say something that she might possibly not like. But nonetheless, she wanted to listen to what he had to say, since she promised to hear you.

"Sure, we can go to a private location. After all, you do want to share something to me in private, so you can say it in a more comfortable place. I promise to listen, my little one." She assured him. He thanked her and off they went to a private place.

The private place looked like a children's park that was rarely used. It was the only place that Kurt could consider as 'private'. He turned to face her after they arrived, with his heart skipping beat after beat, in fear. "I wanted to tell you something that you didn't want to hear from me at all…" He said, with a worrying face, thinking that Eri might not like him anymore.

"What is it, Kurt? What is it that you need to say to me?" She asked, wanting to know more of what Kurt wanted to say. She looked at him with a concerned expression. She was confused as to what he wanted to say. All this time, she had a feeling that he might want to say something negative to me, and now she was starting to lose all hope of being a good sentence.

Of course, Kurt was never happy when it comes to his current situation. But he had to say it to her, otherwise, it would be a bad thing for him. "Well…" He began saying something, knowing that he would be sad the more he wanted to talk to his past. "Yesterday, before I got off the train, you said to take care of my family, right?" He asked.

Eri was confused as to why he asked that. Nonetheless, she was sure that she said that. "Yes, I did." She replied before asking him. "What's wrong, Kurt? Why are you asking such questions?" She asked. Her facial expression began to turn from a warm smile to a blank emotion. What was it that Kurt was about to say to her? her mind was racing with thoughts, thinking of why and what might be.

Kurt never liked the idea of being negative towards her kindness. But if he didn't say something about his situation, then he would live to regret it. "Well… I didn't want to hurt your kindness for me, but… Just hearing that was what I don't like to hear… since I don't have a family at all…" He replied before explaining his current situation.

Listening to his explanation of his current situation, Eri was shocked to hear that Kurt had lived a terrible childhood. "Oh my… Kurt, are you saying that… you are an orphan?" She asked to make sure she heard right from what Kurt said. He nodded, knowing that she wouldn't understand his situation at all.

"A street orphan… Someone who had no choice but to grow up in the streets after losing one's family." He replied, explaining who he really was in terms of his own experience during his life in the capital.

Upon hearing those words, Eri's mouth was hung open, not knowing what else to say. Her mind was a combination of words such as sad and angry. As a doctor, she hated seeing children go through such a miserable life where they lost their family. But what really got to her was seeing how Kurt lived his life in pain, never knowing the feeling of loving his family. She could feel her heart shattered into smithereens when she found out that her little one was an orphan.

Of course, Kurt was getting angry because even if he told her about it, she would just ignore him and be on her way, just like the others before her. "I-I know that you were worried about me, but you were just going to ignore me and… be on your way after i told you that, right?" While he asked that, he began to feel like his negative emotions went haywire, only because no one, until now, understood what he had to go through. And before he knew it, he struck a tear from both eyes.

"How can I? How can I ignore you?" She wondered. Her eyes began to swell up with tears. Seeing her little one in such a devastated state made her want to hug him tight. The mere thought of ignoring him made her heart crack into pieces. For a child to grow up in such a miserable life must hurt, but for a child who still wants to try being loved by at least someone was what she admired.

"Kurt, I could never ignore a child such as you…" She said with a sad expression on her face. For Kurt, Eri was lying to him. But the only thing that he was trying to not let his anger out was because of her letting him caress her belly, despite him being a werewolf and her a human.

"Then… then…" At this point he couldn't help but try to let out his anger. but he was facing a pregnant woman, so it must be hard to just say it in words without being toxic to her. As if he was holding back because he was just a mere little werewolf who wasn't loved by anyone, not even their family. With just that thought and more of his tears struck from both eyes, he decided to cry to let out his anguish, while covering his eyes with his right arm.

Seeing that his emotions were starting to swell, she couldn't help herself. At this point, she was no longer the responsible doctor that she should've been. All she could think of was to embrace him and hold him in her arms as his sadness was breaking her into pieces. And so she kneeled down and hugged Kurt to make sure that he at least would have a place to cry.

"Kurt, my little one… let it out. Let all your emotions out. Cry. It's alright to cry." She whispered into Kurt's right ear. With just her whispering alone, Kurt began to cry on one of her shoulders. He didn't think until now that there was at least someone who understood what he had to go through. And just that thought alone made him feel a little bit better. As time passed, he calmed down a little so that he could thank her for looking after him.

"T-Thank you for helping me out again… *sniff* It made me feel a little bit happy…" he gave out a weak thank-you because he was still crying a little bit. But he felt like he was a burden to her. As he was letting out his emotions, Eri was able to see his pained expression. All she wanted to do at the very moment was to hug him close to her warm chest, hoping to comfort him a bit more. And as he thanked him for helping out, she placed a gentle hand on his head.

"Of course, Kurt. I'll always be there for you…" She assured him in a motherly voice. She softly smiled as she spoke. She didn't mind comforting someone that went through so much trauma. She then hugged him once more. Hearing her words about being there for him, Kurt had a hunch that Eri would say that just to make him feel better. But he couldn't tell if it was true or not.

"Y-You will…? Unlike my family who abandoned me…?" He asked to make sure that she would take care of him. She smiled, knowing that she'll make sure that he would get a better life. "Yes, Kurt… I promise you that I won't abandon you like your family did." She assured him as she gently put her hand on his head. After putting her hand on his head, she caressed it.

"You can always count on me. I'll always be there for you, okay? Now…" She said before continuing to hug him as gently as possible. "Get some rest, Kurt…" She whispered in one of Kurt's ears.

Hearing her whisper, it was only natural for Kurt to be tired after all of this. But he couldn't bring himself to ask her if he could come to her house. Yet he tried, mustering up all his strength. "Um… Is it alright that I'll go to your house to get some rest…?" He asked. Of course, not wanting to leave him, Eri nodded upon hearing his question.

"Oh, of course. You can stay as long as you need to." She answered before kissing him on his head. "No matter what, I'll watch over you." She said before giving him a warm smile as she offered to let him stay with her. "If you want, I'll fix up an extra room for you in my house. Just make yourself comfortable while you're staying there, my little one." She said, still hugging him.

Kurt thanked her before closing his eyes to get some eye-shut. Seeing this, she used her arms to grab him. Despite the fact that she's pregnant, she had an unspeakable strength, with her arms strong enough to grab and hold him.

With her strength, she lifted him into her warm arms and began walking towards her house. After getting inside her house, she saw Kurt still sleeping. This made her carry him to the house's second floor room. Getting inside the bedroom destined for Kurt, she put him on the bed before tucking him in and beginning to pat his head.

"Sleep tight, Kurt…" She whispered before leaving so that he could sleep quietly. When he was sleeping, he felt both warmth and comfort upon lying on the bed. He was trying to let his head open so that he could breathe cold air. With just what he could feel, he felt like he was in Heaven.
