Gummy: I dont know what inspired this story other than me attempting to find a prompt that may suit Hikari and Kaname for a one shot. But as I started working on this, it turned into a multichaptered fic. Fair warning, Hikari and Kaname (and possibly the other characters) may act a bit out of character and this is a slash between Hikari and Kaname. I'll probably flesh this story out later after i finish it. For now this is the first chapter. I dont own Nagi Asu or any of its characters. Just the idea behind this story.

Chapter 1: Regret
Rage seethed through him, his heart was beating rapidly in his chest, almost painfully so. His left hand throbbed painfully in a clenched fist, a small stream of blood slipping from his knuckles and palm, and falling to the ground below. Each drop of blood landed on the shards of glass on the ground below, almost glistening like red crystals, like flowers made out of red glass. It was almost a beautiful sight to behold, at least the blonde boy behind him thought so. But then again, Kaname has always had a skewed outlook on things.
The brown haired boy in front of him seethed with a strange calming rage, and he refused to look at him. They stood there in the middle of the classroom in an eerie silence until Kaname, not being able to stand the silence any longer, spoke. He spoke in that soft quiet voice of his. The voice that can almost always put those around him at ease.
"Hikari," He started.
Hearing his childhood friend and former best friend utter his name made his heart prickle with pain in his chest. It just fueled his anger even more. "Don't say my name!" Hikari growled, trying to control his rage, his body shaking as he spoke, "You have no right to address me after what you did."
"But I did what I thought was right," Kaname said quietly. He barely flinched at Hikari's angry tone. He kept himself calm and composed as he continued, "I did it for you."
Shock rippled through Hikari's body now and the brown haired boy quickly spun around on his heels to face the blonde boy. Two pairs of cerulean blue eyes locked, one raging with anger, like a storming ocean, the other as calm as the sea on a bright sunny day, calm and contemplative.
"You.. you did it for me? Why?! You…. you ruined everything! You ruined my life!" Anger raged within him once more and Hikari couldn't help yelling, letting his temper get the best of him. Just why did everything have to turn out this way?
Why?
Again, Kaname wasn't phased by Hikari's angry outburst. It just made Hikari even more…. Stunning…
The blonde simply smiled, his own blue eyes shining with tears. He then reached out and brushed the tears out of his friend's eyes, wiping the corner of his eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your life."
"Didn't mean to? You had the Sea God put everyone to sleep! Including the Land Dwellers!" his voice was louder now, but no one was around to hear them, except for the silence of the ocean. "You did it for your own messed up selfish desires!"
"Yes, but I did it for you, all for you, Hikari." Kaname whispered, tears starting to form in the corners of his eyes now.
