Kitt wondered if Melissa understood the impact of her actions. Michael was concerned about his ward's health right now. But as soon as he knew she was fine, he was going to be furious. Like Kitt, Michael didn't have any pleasant memories of Karr. But . . .
From what Kitt had just seen, Melissa was a good influence on Karr. The other AI had been helpful, concerned, and otherwise demonstrating interpersonal skills Kitt hadn't see before. As Devon had observed, it was irrational to repeat the same actions and expect a different outcome. So perhaps letting Melissa work with Karr would give Karr a realistic chance. Something he hadn't had before.
Now Kitt just had to convince Michael. From past experience, he knew a lengthy conversation on the topic would degenerate – very quickly – into an argument. An argument Kitt couldn't win. A much better approach would be to make a statement, then change the topic. Wait and repeat. Over time, Michael would come around to Kitt's point of view, perhaps even thinking the idea was his to begin with.
