It is a midsummer's day in the kingdom of Moon Haven. Leaf men and their hummingbirds buzz around doing their daily duties. The djinn citizens wander around the village enjoying the break from all the battles. Flowers bloom everywhere and scent the village with pleasurable smells causing once lost smiles to return.

Taking a break from her duties, the Queen of Moon Haven, Queen Tara, strides amongst her people who stop to have conversations with their beloved Queen. As the regal woman walks further into the village with her long petal dress smoothing a pathway through the fallen leaves, she is paused by all the young question filled djinn citizens. The royal smiles and bends down to be at the same level as the children.

"Why hello there sweethearts."

The djinn children jump up and down, shouting in excitement, "Queen Tara!"

The youngest djinn there who had the wildest red curly hair anyone could ever see, waddled up to her with his thumb shoved in his mouth. Tara lifted the young boy onto her lap, tickling him into a laugh. She recognized the boy to be none other than Finn's child.

Tara knew she would be in this spot for a while. Her long brown hair had already been let down and was now being braided into flowers by the little girls. Not to mention question after question were being fired at her.

"How many flowers do you grow a day?"

"Where did you get your powers from?"

"Can you grow a plant as big as me?"

"Do you like your palace?"

The Queen tried her best to answer each question and eventually calmed her crowd down by growing a blue marigold flower before their eyes.

All the children's eyes went wide except for one who had something on her mind. Her cheeks became rosy read when she worked up the courage to ask,

"Queen Tara?"

Tara smiled and was surprised she wasn't interested in the flower. "Yes dear?"

The djinn asked, pointing up to the tree's canopy "Why does your General always watch you?"

Tara looked up and noticed Ronin on his hummingbird tucked away amongst the shade of the leaves. Almost camouflaged. His ice blue eyes resting on her like a hawk. Daring not to drift off.

"Ronin just likes to make sure I'm safe."

"Is that the only reason he is a General? To make sure you're safe?"

Tara had a slight laugh, that was an interesting question from such a young djinn. "I wish I knew. Why don't you ask him yourself?"

She brought her fingers to her mouth and whistled loudly. Tara knew Ronin's hummingbird call; he had taught it to her when they were younger, and she has never forgotten it. She watched the bird become fully alert and catch Ronin off guard when it swooped down in front of her. Ronin was out of breath, he looked like his life had just flashed before his eyes.

He looked at her, dumbstruck, how did she remember his bird call?

Tara laughed, enjoying his facial expression, "Just making sure you're awake, Ronin."

Ronin jumped off his bird and said, "Your Highness, why must you do this to me? I almost fell off, which could have been serious and-"

She hated when he called her by her title and walked around him making him feel a feeling, he was not willing to admit.

"Yet you didn't."

He sighed, climbing back on his bird with little footsteps right behind him.

"General Ronin?"

Ronin turned and looked down at a small girl with green eyes and dirty blond hair who was at least about a tenth of his height. He glanced back at Tara who had a slight smirk on her face and turned back to the girl.

"Yes?"

"Do you like Queen Tara?"

Tara let out a quiet cough. His eyes went wider than an owl's and so did hers. What happened to just ask him why he was a General?

Ronin's cheeks even went a dark shade of red and he dared not to look into his Queen's eyes.

It took a while to answer. "Umm. I do work with her every day. You have to like someone you work with."

Another child asked, "So you have a crush on her?"

Ronin let out a dry cough matching Tara's. This was getting awkward. He thought he had just answered the hardest question ever but now this one was even harder. Tara just stood there, unable to move.

Seriously, what happened to the beginning question?

Although, her heart for some reason filled with hope for an answer.

A voice called from a distance "Sir! The trainers have returned!"

Ronin yelled back "In a minute!"

He turned back towards everyone, and this time had a quick glance at his Queen, having a small smile form on his face that she hasn't seen in many moons.

"I suppose, I do."

The hummingbird lifted and caused her hair to fly away from her shoulders. She watched as the bird turned into a speck as it flew further and further away. Her heart was no longer filled with hope, her question that she has been wanting him to answer for many years had finally been answered. When she was least expecting it! Tara thought she had lost him over the years when he became more stoic, and duty driven but always got the hint that he did care for her. Even if it was just a little bit.

It was now evening, and the sun was now merely a small orange stripe in the sky just making it visible enough for one to see properly. Tara made her way to the training campground that was almost empty. Only one remained. The one she has been looking for.

Ronin was unsaddling his bird and she said behind him, giving him a second fright for the day, "Did you really mean that?"

He placed the saddle on a hook still not turning around, "I did."

Her eyes softened completely, and he continued, "I know it's not proper for a General to care for his Queen but it's hard not to when she is the most beautiful and caring woman, he has ever laid eyes on. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I didn't want to ruin your duties or mine. I mean it's even more improper because you probably don't even feel the same."

"Awh…Ronin. Is that why you've never told me? Because of some duties?"

He nodded looking down at his feet, his face extremely red again. He was definitely not used to expressing emotions. Tara stepped in front of him, placed her finger on his chin and forced his gaze to hers.

"I care very much for you too, you know."

She heard him give out a small sigh of relief and to brighten her mood even more a large smile formed after.

"There's that smile."

Ronin brought his hands with hers and smirked, "You've made me soft."

Their lips met as the orange strip disappeared and stars rose above.

Their foreheads rest against one another and both fill each other's ears with whispers, holding each other close. Only they and the night heard those words.

Who says a Queen and her General cannot love? They are djinn too, you know.
